Crossbones (Brock Rumlow) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is usually depicted as an adversary of Captain America, and played a part in the assassination of the superhero. Crossbones has been substantially adapted from the comics into multiple forms of media, including several animated television series voiced by Fred Tatasciore. Most notably, actor Frank Grillo has portrayed the character in the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Comparison pictures of ThreeA 2000AD Judge Dredd figure with Art Figures Karl Urban Dredd
continued from previous toy blog post...
After covering the recently released 2000 AD x ThreeA 1/6th scale Mega-City One JUDGE DREDD 12-inch Collectible Figure on my site HERE and HERE, I thought it'll be nice to put the ThreeA Judge Dredd alongside the Art Figures Karl Urban Judge Dredd for comparison. While the ThreeA Judge Dredd is very faithful to the 2000 AD comic magazine character, the Art Figures released 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop was based on the 2012 science-fiction action film which has Karl Urban portraying Judge Dredd. The film version Dredd wasn't as loud and fanciful as the comic magazine version which has the large gold eagle shoulder pad on one side and equally large pad on the other but it did try to stay close with the helmet design and badge on the left chest area, as well as elbow and knee pads plus the Lawgiver.
I think Karl Urban did a great job portraying Judge Dredd with the scowl on his face through most of the film and the producers knew better than to have Dredd remove his helmet, since Dredd has never shown his face in the comic series. The other actor who had played Dredd earlier - Sylvester Stallone - did remove his helmet in the 1995 Judge Dredd film and it didn't go down well with all the Dredd fans. Medicom Toys did release a 12-inch Sylvester Stallone as Judge Dredd figure way back in 1995. You can check out the action figure review posted earlier HERE.

continued from previous toy blog post...
Suicide Squad is a 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team of the same name. Figuring they're all expendable, a secret government agency led by Amanda Waller decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret black ops mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity. Will Smith stars as Floyd Lawton / Deadshot: An expert marksman and assassin.
This is the 2016 released Art Figures AF021 1/6th scale Dead Soldier 12-inch action figure which is basically Will Smith stars as Deadshot from Suicide Squad. I have already reviewed the figure with the mask on in my first part action figure review posted HERE, so here's how the figure looks without his mask. Hot Toys also released this figure (you can check out the preview pics HERE) but since I didn't want to spend more than I should, I went with Art Figures instead.

Comparison pictures of Art Figures 1/6th scale Judge Dredd and VTS Judge Anderson figures
continued from previous toy blog post...
After reviewing the VTS VM-013 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop 12-inch figure aka Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson from DREDD movie (action figure review HERE), let's see how she fares beside the 2014 released Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure (Reviewed earlier HERE and HERE). These two figures are released by different manufacturers and it's interesting to see how they look beside each other. Art Figures also released their version of Judge Anderson but she just didn't make the cut. Art figures' version looks rushed and certainly not up to standard compared with VTS version. You can see the preview pics of Art Figures AF-020 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Female) figure HERE.
These two figures look quite good together, even if they are made differently. The red color on the helmets are different, Judge Anderson's helmet is a tad brighter than Dredd's. Other minor differences exist but they are not as obvious. VTS 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop's (Judge Anderson) Lawgiver Mk. II has more colors than Dredd's which is mostly black. Knee pads and shin guards are different too.

Art Figure Soldiers of Fortune 4 aka The Expendables III Antonio Banderas as Galgo
The Expendables 3 (sometimes stylized as The Expendables III) is a 2014 American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is the third installment in The Expendables film series. The film features Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, and Victor Ortiz.
The story follows the mercenary group known as "The Expendables" as they come into conflict with ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), the Expendables' co-founder, who is determined to destroy the team. Antonio Banderas stars as Galgo: A former member of the Spanish Legion in the Spanish Armed Forces, Croatian war veteran, and expert sharpshooter. His character likes to talk a lot.
Art Figures seem to enjoy releasing 12-inch figures based on the characters from The Expendables films. This is their fourth Expendables inspired figure after Jason Statham as Lee Christmas (reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE), Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen (action figure review HERE and HERE), and Jean-Claude Van Damme (aka JCVD) as Jean Vilain (preview pics HERE). Art Figure Soldiers of Fortune 4 aka The Expendables III Antonio Banderas as Galgo will come with Head Sculpt, Male Figure Body, HK416D Assault Rifle, AK47 Assault Rifle, SIG P266 Pistol, Leather Elbow Pads, Tactical Glove Hands, Combat Boots, Headset / Throat Mic, Viper Fixed Blade Knife, Leather Belt, Watch, Cap, Shirt, Suspenders, Tactical Holster, Rifle Sling, Duty Belt.

October 2016 Haul: 1/6th scale Rey & BB-8 Two-pack Set, ArtFigures DeadShot + Phicen M32
This is my October 2016 haul: Hot Toys MMS337 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1:6 scale REY and BB-8 collectible figure set, Art Figures AF021 1/6th scale Dead Soldier 12-inch action figure and Phicen Limited PL2016-M32 1/6th scale Super Flexible Asian Male Seamless Body.
I have been pretty busy lately packing everything for the big move to the newer, smaller place which should be ready in December. Hence the lack of reviews lately :( Many figures will have to go as the display space will be greatly reduced but that hasn't stopped me from getting new stuff LOL. It will be mostly out with the old and in with the new as I'm quite the sucker for new things and the innovative ways 1:6 manufacturers (toy companies sound so wrong since the figures I collect don't fall under the TOYS category anymore) have come up with to produce collectible figures. Case-in-point would be the DollsOddSaga 1:6 scale "Outer Heaven" Exo-skeleton collectible figure which I have just reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE, the first of its kind with an working / articulated exo-skeleton attached to a 12-inch body.
Okay, back to the reveal just in case you think these are just empty boxes. It seems there are people who do just collect Hot Toys boxes although I think that's happening less these days. See my toy blog post titled "Hot Toys Collector or Hot Toys Box Collector? Age-old question: To open / not to open the toy1" posted HERE. When Hot Toys first came on the scene, almost every figure would be sold out fast but these days, many Hot Toys figures can still be available at many sites because the take up rate is not as high as before.

Art Figures 1:6 scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop 2.0 - new addition to the Judge Dredd family
Dredd is a 2012 science fiction action film directed by Pete Travis and written and produced by Alex Garland. It is based on the 2000 AD comic strip Judge Dredd and its eponymous character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Karl Urban stars as Judge Dredd, a law enforcer given the power of judge, jury and executioner in a vast, dystopic metropolis called Mega-City One that lies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Dredd and his apprentice partner, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), are forced to bring order to a 200-storey high-rise block of flats and deal with its resident drug lord, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey). While Dredd works his way towards Ma-Ma, she calls in the corrupt Judges Lex, Kaplan, Chan and Alvarez.
This is the third figure to be offered by Art Figures as part of their Judge Dredd series. Their first figure, Dredd himself, was a HUGE success (check out the Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch action figure review posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE) and Art Figures followed up with Judge Anderson (preview pictures HERE) but faced a serious challenge from VTS which offered a much better alternative (post HERE). So now Art Figures is adding a third figure into the fray.
Art Figures AF-022 1:6 scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop 2.0 12-inch Figure will come with: Detailed likeness head sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Helmet with visor, Leather combat jacket, Leather combat pants, Combat boots, Combat gloves, Bulletproof vest with Name plate, Tactical shoulder pads, Tactical knee pads, Smoke grenade, Stick grenade with Holder, Handcuffs, First aid kit, Tactical shotgun. It's too bad this figure doesn't come with the Lawgiver.

Art Figures AF021 1/6th scale Dead Soldier 12" action figure looks really deadly & impressive
Deadshot (real name Floyd Lawton) is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly as an adversary of Batman. He has traditionally been portrayed as a supervillain, but has more recently taken the role of an antihero. As the world's deadliest and most accurate marksman, Deadshot has become a staple member of both the Suicide Squad and Secret Six. The character will be portrayed by Will Smith in the upcoming film Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad is a secret government agency known as "Task Force X," led by Amanda Waller, that recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency and saving the world from an unknown but powerful threat.
Art Figures AF021 1/6th scale Dead Soldier 12-inch action figure will come with head sculpt (Deadshot), 12-inch male figure body with relaxed hands and feet, gun holding hands, mask with red eye scope, red eye scope, under armour long sleeve t-shirt, full body armor jacket protection gear, dual wrist weapons with pads, tactical pants, tactical belt, military web belt with belt pad, utility pouch. ART Figures 1/6th scale Boy Black 12-inch figure Review II - Vin Diesel as Riddick in Pitch Black
continued from previous toy blog post...
"Richard B. Riddick. Escaped convict. Murderer. All you people are so scared of me. Most days I'd take that as a compliment. But it ain't me you gotta worry about now."
Art Figures seem to have missed the mark lately or maybe Dam Toys / VTS is doing a better job with the same figures they are offering. But this is one figure they got right :) This particular ART Figures 1/6th scale Boy Black 12-inch figure is one of those figures that stand out for me. From the realistic Vin Diesel as Riddick head sculpt to the outfit and accessories (including the molded wrist guards) plus weapons, this figure scores in every area for me. I am thankful that Hot Toys isn't the only company offering quality products. Other 1:6 scale companies such as Art Figures and Dam Toys (also VTS) have also upped their game and are giving us good quality products with just as realistic and stunning head sculpts at half the price.
One can only have so many Iron Man 12-inch figures. And how many Stormtroopers does one really need? It's good to know other companies are producing and releasing other 1:6 scale figures Hot Toys will never touch because they are not of mass appeal. I for one would like to have a variety of figures from the different genres in my collection as I enjoy and appreciate all the nice details that go into making the different outfits and accessories.
This second part action figure review of the ART Figures 1/6th scale Boy Black 12-inch figure (aka Vin Diesel as Riddick in Pitch Black) shows the figure fully equipped with his accessories and weapons. ART Figures AF-018 1/6th scale Boy Black 12-inch figure comes with 1/6th scale head sculpt that features life-like likeness of Vin Diesel as Riddick in Pitch Black, 12-inch Figure Body, Egyptian style knife, Saber claw dagger x 2, Ancient dagger with sheath, Dust goggles, Wrist guard, Hydration back pack, Hydration tube, Tank Top, combat pants, Belt, Black boots, Handcuffs, Hands x 3 pairs.

Review 1: ART Figures 1/6th scale Boy Black is 12-inch Vin Diesel as Riddick in Pitch Black
Pitch Black is a 2000 science fiction action / horror film co-written and directed by David Twohy. The film stars Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, and Keith David. Dangerous criminal Richard B. Riddick (Vin Diesel) is being transported to prison in a spacecraft. When the spaceship is damaged by comet debris and makes an emergency crash landing on an empty desert planet, Riddick escapes. However, when predatory alien creatures begin attacking the survivors, Riddick joins forces with the surviving crew and other passengers to develop a plan to escape the planet.
Pitch Black was shot on a modest budget of $23 million USD. Despite mixed reviews from critics, it was a sleeper hit, grossing over $53 million USD worldwide and developing its own cult following, particularly around the antihero Riddick, further confirming Vin Diesel's star power.
This is the recently released ART Figures AF-018 1/6th scale Boy Black 12-inch figure. The naming of the product is obviously a way to throw some people off their trail but we know Art Figures certainly got their inspiration from the character played by Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. The great thing about these 12-inch figures is that the manufacturer has studied the film and looked at the character in very fine detail and has produced a 1/6th scale version of the movie character with all his outfit / costume and accessories done as accurately as possible and I like that a lot.

Art Figures AF-020 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Female) not in same league as VTS
Art Figures has released official pictures of their upcoming 1:6 scale version of Judge Anderson as seen in the 2012 film "DREDD" and having already seen the VTS Toys version (preview pictures posted on my toy blog HERE), I have to say, I'm afraid they fell short on this one. Art Figures did a bang-up job on their AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure - check out the action figure review posts HERE and HERE - but it seems they have dropped the ball on their follow-up figure. Art Figures AF-020 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Female) looks like it was rushed out in order to compete with VTS and somehow just misses the mark. They should have gotten their act together before releasing these pictures. The female head sculpt looked like they gave the sculpting job to the people at Triad Toys and even the helmet doesn't sit properly - see the pictures below :( It's really a shame because we were expecting more from Art Figures. After all, they did come on with a bang when they releases their Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle / The Punisher figure back in 2011. You can check out the action figure review and pictures HERE and HERE
Art Figures AF-020 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Female) will come with: Detailed likeness head sculpt, Body, Free hair sculpt for the previously released Heavy Armoured Special Cop. Costume: Leather combat jacket, Leather combat pants, Combat boots, Combat gloves, Bulletproof vest with Name plate, Tactical shoulder pads, Tactical knee pads, Helmet with visor, Gas mask. Weapon and gear: MP5 Submachine gun with magazine x 3, Smoke grenade, Stick grenade with Holder, Machine pistol with Holster, Clips with Holder, Tactical folding knife, Handcuffs, First aid kit, Gas mask bag

New from Art Figures: 1/6th scale Soldiers of Fortune 3 12" action figure (JCVD as Jean Vilain)
This is Art Figures next figure to be released: a 1/6 scale Soldiers of Fortune 3 action figure. This particular 12-inch figure looks a lot like Jean-Claude Van Damme (aka JCVD) who portrayed Jean Vilain in "The Expendables 2" movie. Jean Vilain, leader of an Albanian criminal group known as the Sang goes up against Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of merry men, and almost takes them out. In the end, there is the duel to the death between Ross and Vilain. I don't have to tell you who won since Expendables 3 has already been released.
Art Figures have already released the 1/6 scale Soldiers of Fortune 12-inch action figure who happens to resemble Jason Statham as former SAS soldier Lee Christmas in "The Expendables 2" (reviewed in my toy blog posts HERE, HERE and HERE) as well as 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen 12-inch figure (posted HERE and HERE) so this will be the third figure from their "Soldiers of Fortune" series.

Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure Review II
continued from previous post...
What can I say? Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure is certainly worth the wait. Having seen other collectors post their pictures, I just couldn't wait to get hold of mine which was a little slow in arriving but arrive it did and as the saying goes "Better late than never". This is one of the best figures of the year for me and I'm very pleased with the overall quality in terms of materials used, the stitching of the entire outfit and the very nice details of all the accessories and parts. Some assembly is certainly necessary but nothing fell apart in the assembling process and everything came together nicely for a great overall look.
Judge Joseph Dredd is a fictional character whose comic strip in the British science fiction anthology 2000 AD is the magazine's longest running, having been featured since its second issue in 1977. Dredd is an American law enforcement officer in a violent city of the future where uniformed Judges are empowered to arrest, sentence, and execute criminals at the scene of the crime. So great is the character's name recognition that his name is sometimes invoked over similar issues to those explored by the comic series, such as the police state, authoritarianism, and the rule of law.
Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure is very much inspired by the 2012 movie version of Judge Dredd as portrayed by Karl Urban and being true to character, Urban never removes his helmet, requiring him to convey emotion without using his eyes.

Review 1: Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure
It's finally here. This is the highly anticipated Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure I've been waiting months for. When the preview pictures were first released, it created quite a bit of hype and excitement all over the internet, with dealers and collectors scrambling to get their pre-orders in before this figure gets pulled off the shelves for obvious reasons. Good thing it wasn't and now we get to enjoy this figure for what it is: a great product with fine attention to details and true representation of a certain Judge. This figure is marvelous to behold and must be examined up close to be truly appreciated. What makes the deal even sweeter is the price since it's nowhere near the pricing of Hot Toys and Sideshow's products.
Some figures have been pulled of the shelves before and I was most afraid that this figure would suffer the same fate. In January 2012, DID released pictures of their upcoming Steve Jobs 12-inch figure (check out the pictures HERE) and it made so much waves that it even made the news (see my post HERE). Apple came down hard and DID caved (DID says "iQuit!" Steve Jobs 12-inch Figure a No-Go! Product Withdrawn, Apple Wins posted HERE). I'm just glad this figure made it to production and is now in my hands :)

Art Figures really came on the scene when they released their Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" 12-inch Figure. A lot of people didn't expect it to be that good and were caught by surprise. It then became a mad rush to get hold of the figure but due to the limited pre-order numbers, the supply was just not able to meet the sudden surge in demand. I was one of those who had pre-ordered and was able to get the figure and review it on my toy blog (see the posts HERE and HERE). IMHO I think Art Figures has upped the ante with the release of this Artistic Interpretation Heavy Armoured Special Cop figure. The choice of materials used and the mix of textures really brings out the authenticity of this figure.

End October 2014 Haul: Art Figures 1/6th Heavy Armoured Special Cop & two more Ninja Turtles
So the only 12-inch figure I got for the whole month haul of October 2014 is the Art Figures AF-015 Artistic Interpretation 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop. What can I say? October has been a pretty dry month for me but this one figure more than makes up for it. I've been waiting eagerly for months for this one particular figure and it's finally here. I've already seen pictures of the actual product posted on the internet and forums but nothing beats having the actual figure in your own hands. More of this later.
The other two figures I got for October 2014 are the Kaiyodo Revoltech Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNT action figures (Donatello and Michelangelo). I've already gotten Leonardo and Raphael earlier this month (see my post of the haul HERE) so this two completes the quartet. These are the most unique and creatively designed ninja turtles so far and really one-of-a-kind. I don't really go into smaller sized figures these days as I much prefer the larger scaled 12-inch figures for their attention to details and amazingly accurate and intricate accessories but these turtles just pulled me back in and I couldn't resist the temptation. If you wonder why I got hooked, check out the preview pictures HERE of these highly articulated ninja turtles.
