HPC Toys Film Series 001 1/6 scale John McClane "A Cop Never Dies" 12-inch figure

continued from previous post...

This is HPC Toys Film Series 001 1/6 scale "A Cop Never Dies" 12-inch figure fully dressed with the navy blue jacket, white and blue plaid shirt and carrying the brown Leather-like bag. I had covered the box packaging and contents in the previous post with close-up pictures of the 1/6 scale realistic head sculpt that bears a very good likeness and resemblance to Bruce Willis who plays John McClane in all the Die-Hard films as well as the new Narrow shoulder muscle PVC and ABS body. You can check out HPC Toys on FB and tell them you LIKE their page HERE.

This is what John McClane (Bruce Willis) was seen wearing when he arrived in Moscow, Russia to help out his son Jack McClane as seen in the latest Die-Hard film, "A Good Day to Die Hard", the fifth installment in the Die Hard film series. One of the consistent elements of the Die-Hard films is that John McClane starts off with a set of clean clothes and by the end of the movie, he loses most of his clothes and needless to say, what remains are no longer clean ;p

Review 1: HPC Toys Film Series 001 1/6 scale "A Cop Never Dies" 12-inch figure aka Die-Hard 5

This is a first-part review of HPC Toys Film Series 001 1/6 scale "A Cop Never Dies" 12-inch figure. When you read the title "A Cop Never Dies", immediately a certain movie character comes to mind. You instantly think of Bruce Willis' John McClane's character from the Die Hard film series, where he is known for more action, little talk, sardonic yet wisecracking single-liners, quick quips, and the famous catch-phrase "Yippee-ki-yay, motherf#@^er".

HPC Toys first project Film Series 001 1/6 scale "A cop never dies" comes with: Newly sculpted 1/6 scale realistic head sculpt, Narrow shoulder muscle PVC and ABS body (12-inch figure), two Extra hands (4 hands in Total), A black pistol, A navy blue jacket, A white and blue plaid shirt, A white t-shirt / vest, Brown pants, A Leather-like bag, Black leather shoes and A movie-like background attached with the figure box. It is limited to 500 pieces worldwide. Better get yours while you still can because this is a very good product and I highly recommend it to everyone who collects 12-inch figures. For purchasing the figure the best way is to buy it from HPC Toys directly on FB (link HERE). Scroll down to see all the pictures. This is a GREAT figure and product from HPC Toys.

Incoming: Brother Production Presents 1/6 scale "A Good Day To Die (hard) Johnny" 12" Figure

"Yippee Ki-Yay Mother Russia!"

A Good Day to Die Hard is a 2013 American action film directed by John Moore and written by Skip Woods. The title itself sounds like it could be something out of porn LOL Featuring the John McClane character that was based on the protagonist of Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp, it is the fifth installment in the Die Hard film series. Bruce Willis reprises the lead role of John McClane, who travels to Russia to help his estranged son, Jack (Jai Courtney), out of prison, but is soon caught in the crossfire of a terrorist plot.

Brother Production has a knack for releasing 1:6 scale Bruce Willis as John McClane figures and there have been so many I actually lost count LOL The one 12-inch John McClane 12-inch figure I have that I really like was released by Brother Production (check out the review in my toy blog post HERE with lots of pictures)

Brother Production Presents 1/6 scale Custom Hand Made "A Good Day To Die (hard) Johnny" 12-inch Figure will come with two 1/6 scale head sculpts, NORMAL version and Side looking "Battle-DAMAGE" version. It will be limited to just 150 pieces.

Incoming: DAM Toys 1/6 scale U.S. Navy SEAL Recon team leader 12-inch figure is Bruce Willis

"Tears of the Sun" is a 2003 American war film depicting a U.S. Navy SEAL team rescue mission amidst a civil war in Nigeria. Bruce Willis plays a Special-Ops commander (LT A.K. Waters) who leads his team into the jungle of Nigeria to rescue a doctor played by Monica Belluci who will only go with them if they agree to rescue 70 refugees too.

Finally! The one a lot of us have been waiting for - DAM Toys 1/6 scale U.S. Navy SEAL Recon team leader 12-inch figure (No. 93009) who is obviously very much inspired by Bruce Willis' character in "Tears of the Sun". As I had mentioned in my previous post, the names of movie characters play a big part in the film they are in. Bruce Willis' character's name is A.K. Waters because he's a United States Navy SEAL operator, SEAL being the acronym for Sea, Air, Land Teams. The acronym is derived from their capacity to operate at sea, in the air, and on land.

DAM Toys 1/6 scale U.S. Navy SEAL Recon team leader 12-inch figure will come with 1/6 scale real-like head sculpt, DAM 12-inch action figure body, black t-shirt, SOF woodland camouflage battle dress uniform (BDU), BDU belt, H-harness, LC2 S belt, Acadia boots, Nomex gloves (black), enhanced butt pack, 1QT canteen and canteen cover x 2, LC2 ammo pouch x 2, double pistol magazine pouch x 2, AN/PRC-148 radio and pouch, LASH I headset, military binoculars, SOPMOD M4 carbine with backup iron sight, COMP M2 red dot sight, AN/PVS-18 NVG with weapon mount, AN/PEQ-5 CVL laser, RIS rail panel, vertical grip, stock pad, 3-point rifle sling, USGI sling adaptor, M4 5.56 mag x 6, Mk23 Mod 0 pistol with suppressor, .45 pistol magazine x 3, pistol holster, M67 fragmentation grenade x 4, SOG X42 combat knife, Kandahar combat knife, PUK combat knife, hanging buckle, G-shock watch

What a difference a shemagh makes ;p Very Hot 1/6 scale Mercenary (sand ver) with kufiya added

continued from earlier post...

The keffiyeh / kufiya (Arabic: كوفية‎, kūfiyyah, plural كوفيات, kūfiyyāt), also better known as a ghutrah (غُترَة) or shemagh (شماغ), and also known by some as ḥaṭṭah (حَطّة), mashadah (مَشَدة), or in Persian chafiye (چَفیِه), and in Kurdish cemedanî ( جه مه داني), is a traditional Arab headdress fashioned from a square, usually cotton, scarf. It is typically worn by Arab men, as well as some Kurds.

It is commonly found in arid regions to provide protection from direct sun exposure, as well to protect the mouth and eyes from blown dust and sand. Its distinctive woven check pattern may have originated in an ancient Mesopotamian representation of either fishing nets or ears of grain, but the true origin of the pattern remains unknown. [source: wiki]

For decades, keffiyeh have been issued to British soldiers who now, almost exclusively, refer to them as shemaghs. Their use by some units and formations of the military and police forces of the former British Empire and subsequent Commonwealth dates back to before the Second World War. Since the beginning of the War on Terror (used to specifically refer to the ongoing military campaign led by the US, UK and their allies against organizations and regimes identified by them as terrorist), these keffiyeh / shemagh, usually cotton and in military olive drab or khaki with black stitching, have been adopted by US troops as well, a reversal of previous policy which saw them strictly forbidden during the Gulf War (2 August 1990 – 28 February 1991).

Even mercenaries have sniper teams and two mercs are definitely better off than one ;p

continued from earlier post...

A marksman, markswoman, or marksperson is a person who is skilled in precision, or a sharpshooter shooting, using projectile weapons, such as with a rifle but most commonly with a designated marksman rifle and / or a sniper rifle, to shoot at long range targets. The main difference between a marksman and a normal sniper is that a marksman is usually considered an organic part of a team of soldiers, whereas regular snipers tend to work alone or with other snipers.

A sniper is a highly trained marksman who operates alone or in pair who maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engages targets from concealed positions or physical distances exceeding the detection capabilities of the enemy personnel, without being detected. These sniper teams operate independently, with little combat asset support from their parent units. Snipers typically have highly selective and specialized training and use high-precision rifles and optics, and often have sophisticated communication assets to feed valuable combat information back to their units.

Review Very Hot 1/6 scale Mercenary uniform set (sand version) for 12-inch military figure

Another 1/6 scale Bruce Willis 12-inch figure? Why not since Bruce Willis has been keeping himself pretty busy with "The Expendables 2", "Looper", "Fire with Fire", "G.I. Joe: Retaliation", "A Good Day to Die Hard" and "RED 2". Because of Bruce Willis persona and his roles as an action hero who never seems to quit and cannot die, he has been the subject of quite a few 1/6 scale manufacturers and target of toy companies when making and releasing 12-inch figures.

This is just 1/6 scale Bruce Willis modeling the recently released Very Hot 1/6 scale Mercenary uniform set (sand version) for 12-inch military figure. Since the set doesn't come with a figure, I thought I'll just use this Bruce Willis 12-inch figure for the kitting up and display. The latest Bruce Willis figure released was the Art Figures 1/6 scale City Police 12-inch Figure reviewed earlier HERE and HERE. This particular 1/6 scale Bruce Willis head sculpt was a custom head I bought and used to kitbash a 1/6 scale Bruce Willis as John McClane 12-inch figure from Die-Hard 3 (You can view the pictures HERE).

But enough about Bruce. Let's see what Very Hot 1/6 scale Mercenary uniform set (sand version) for 12-inch military figure has to offer. By calling this a mercenary set, Very Hot doesn't have to be accurate in terms of the gear and equipment since mercenaries don't belong to any army and buy their stuff from all over. Hint: I bought this particular set mainly for the M40A1 sniper rifle. I'm going to need that when the DAM Toys 1/6 scale USMC in Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm 1991) 12-inch "Jarhead" Figure is released (see the preview pictures HERE). Scroll down to see what is included with this Very Hot set...

Comparing Art Figures 1/6 City Police with VTS (Virtual ToyS) Stone Cold Killer 12-inch figure

At least two 1/6 scale companies / manufacturers have produced and released 12-inch figures based on the 2005 film adaptation of Frank Miller's Sin City John Hartigan character. In the 2005 movie, John Hartigan is played by Bruce Willis and it seems Mr Willis is a very lucrative character to be made into 1/6 scale because there have been countless 1/6 scale figures released that bear a resemblance to Bruce Willis, so much so that I actually have a label on my TOYHAVEN toy blog just for Bruce Willis :)

There are other interesting characters from the Sin City film that could be made into 12-inch figures as well such as The Salesman (Josh Hartnett - at least Dragon Models did release two 12-inch figures of him - Pearl Harbor HERE and Black Hawk Down HERE), Jackie Boy (Benicio del Toro), Dwight (Clive Owen) and most notably Marv (Mickey Rourke) but we haven't see any of them hit the market. The girls in the film are even more exciting: Goldie (Jaime King), Shellie (Brittany Murphy), Becky (Alexis Bledel), Gail (Rosario Dawson), Miho (Devon Aoki) and Nancy (Jessica Alba - Dragon also released a Jessica Alba lookalike 12-inch female action figure as well - see the pictures HERE).

In the 2005 American crime thriller film "Sin City", a neo-noir based on Miller's graphic novel series of the same name, aging police officer John Hartigan (Bruce Willis) tries to stop serial child-killer Roark Junior (Nick Stahl) from raping and killing eleven-year-old Nancy Callahan (Makenzie Vega). Scroll down to see comparison pictures of the two 12-inch John Hartigan figures released so far.

Art Figures 1/6 scale City Police 12-inch Figure Review II - More Sin City John Hartigan pictures

continued from previous post...

At the start of That Yellow Bastard, Hartigan is "pushing 60." He has a distinguishing cross-shaped scar on his forehead. He is presented as a muscular and imposing man, capable of holding his own in almost any fight. He also suffers from angina, which consistently affects his work, despite his attempts to ignore and fight through it. He is almost always dressed professionally, most commonly wearing an oxford shirt, tie, and dress slacks, along with his signature trenchcoat.

Hartigan possesses a seemingly indomitable will, able to withstand multiple bullet wounds without collapsing, and most notably being capable of willing himself back to life after being hanged. Hartigan has a distinctive way of narrating: he often talks to himself in his head, referring himself as "stupid old man". Who better to play John Hartigan in the 2005 film adaptaion of Frank Miller's "Sin City" than Bruce Willis, the die-hard man :)

Review 1: Art Figures 1/6 scale City Police 12-inch Figure is Bruce Willis as John Hartigan

Detective John Hartigan is a major protagonist in the "Sin City" series of graphic novels, written by Frank Miller. He is the central character in "That Yellow Bastard", and has a small cameo in "Just Another Saturday Night".

A veteran police detective of Basin City, Hartigan is gruff, stoic, and cynical. He is also completely selfless; he cares little about his own well-being as long as he can protect his fellow citizens. He risks his own safety and reputation to achieve safety for those he cares about, but this dedication eventually destroys his life.

Hartigan is portrayed by Bruce Willis in the 2005 film adaptation of Sin City. According to many interviews, Willis, upon seeing one or two minutes of The Customer is Always Right short that Robert Rodriguez had brought with him as a proof of concept tool to get actors and other talent (most notably Frank Miller) on board, paused the DVD, turned to Rodriguez and said that whatever he saw from that point onwards, he wanted to be part of the project. Michael Douglas was considered for the role before Willis came on board. [source: wiki]

Preview Art-Figures AF009 1/6 scale City Police 12" Figure with "Sin City" Bruce Willis likeness

Sin City, also known as Frank Miller's Sin City, is a 2005 crime thriller film written, produced and directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. It is a neo-noir based on Miller's graphic novel series of the same name. The film is primarily based on three of Miller's works: The Hard Goodbye, about a man who embarks on a brutal rampage in search of his one-time sweetheart's killer, killing anyone, even the police, that gets in his way of finding and killing her murderer; The Big Fat Kill, which focuses on a street war between a group of prostitutes and a group of mercenaries, the police, and the mob; and That Yellow Bastard, which follows an aging police officer who protects a young woman from a grotesquely disfigured serial killer.

In "That Yellow Bastard", Bruce Willis plays ageing police officer John Hartigan who tries to stop serial child-killer Roark Junior (Nick Stahl) from raping and killing eleven-year-old Nancy Callahan (Makenzie Vega).

Art-Figures AF009 1/6th scale City Police 12-inch Figure (slated for October 2012 release) is basically inspired by Bruce Willis' John Hartigan character from "Sin City". Besides coming with a 1/6th scale head sculpt that will have Bruce Willis likeness, the 12-inch figure will also be attired in 1/6th attire / apparel worn by the character from the movie.

Incoming: Brother Production Presents New York Detective "DIE HARD JOHNNY"

Yet another 1/6 scale Bruce Willis 12-inch action figure. This is also another Bruce Willis as Detective John McClane figure from the Die Hard film series. "Live Free or Die Hard" (released as "Die Hard 4.0" outside North America), is a 2007 American action film, and the fourth installment in the Die Hard series.

The fourth film "Live Free or Die Hard" aka "Die Hard 4.0" was released in 2007, 12 years after the third film "Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995)" but still proved that Bruce Willis has what it takes to be an action hero :)

Brother Production Presents New York Detective "DIE HARD JOHNNY" is obviously an unlicensed 1/6 scale Bruce Willis as Detective John McClane 12-inch figure as he appeared in the fourth Die Hard movie and I think this is the best interpretation of the famous actor as John McClane by far.

Incoming from Heroic: 1/6 Crazy COP outfit set

Another Bruce Willis figure? This is an upcoming release by Heroic and it's called "Crazy Cop". Bruce Willis has a knack for playing never-say-die characters since his role as John McClane in "Die Hard" in 1998 and it seems 1/6 manufacturers just cannot seem to get enough of him as they are always trying to sell us 12-inch Bruce Willis figures. There are so many blog posts /entries on Bruce Willis that I had to create a label just for him :)

Heroic 1/6 Crazy Cop outfit set will include the following items: Headsculpt (Normal), Neck Connector (suitable for HT, TTL, EnterBay 12-inch bodies), Hands (2 pairs), Feet with pegs (1 pair), Colt Python .357 Magnum 6-inch, Colt Python .357Magnum 2.5 inch, black jacket, Handcuffs, Sunglasses, Casual shoes, Sock tops (not a full sock since the shoes are attached by pegs and not slipped into the feet), Jeans, White Vest, Belt, Police badge, Double shoulder holster, Nokia mobile phone, Baton, Ring, magazine pouch. Body NOT included!

REVIEW II: Art-figures Navy Seal Special / Lt AK Waters (Bruce Willis) 12-inch Figure

continued from previous post...

This is the fully kitted out Art-figures: Navy Seal Special 1/6 scale AF Collectible Figure OR "Tears of the Sun" Bruce Willis as Lt AK Waters 12-inch ACTION Figure (especially since Bruce Willis is one of the ACTION MAN of his generation, and also the next). I had covered the box packaging of this figure and the parts as well as accessories included with this set in my last post. One of the fun aspects of this hobby is putting everything together :) It's like dressing up for the actual mission itself, only everything is so much smaller and some parts need the assistance of a pair of tweezers. Most importantly, PATIENCE is the key ;p plan ahead and do it right or you may have to undo everything and start over.

Having shown where the Art-figures 1/6 scale Navy Seal Special Forces 12-inch figure's 1/6 Ka-Bar Tanto Black Knife, SP4 Spec Plus Navy Knife, double magazine pouches, left-hand side drop-down pistol holster and AN/PRC-148 radio all go on his lower body in the previous post, now Lt Waters is decked out with the rest of his gear i.e. LCE (Load Carrying Equipment) consisting of H Harness webbing / LCE suspenders, Pistol belt with belt pad, 02 x ammunition pouches, M67 High-Explosive Fragmentation hand grenade x 04, water canteen and holder / carrier, and "butt pack" (2-day pack).

Art-figures: Navy Seal Special / Lt AK Waters (Bruce Willis) 12-inch Figure REVIEW 1

In "Tears of the Sun", a 2003 American war film, Lieutenant A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) and his United States Navy SEAL Team are sent by Captain Bill Rhodes (Tom Skerritt) to the West African country of Nigeria amidst a civil war to extract a "critical persona", one Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci), a U.S. citizen by marriage. Their secondary mission is to extract the Mission Priest and two Nuns.

Bruce Willis produced Tears of the Sun through Cheyenne Enterprises, his production company, and took the title from an early sub–title for "Live Free or Die Hard", the fourth film in the Die Hard series; he filmed the sequel on condition he could use its sub-title for his SEALs war film. The actors who portrayed SEALs underwent a two-week boot camp; during principal photography, they had to address and refer to each other by character name — even off camera, to improve interaction. "Tears of the Sun" is the first film photographed on the Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. [ source: wiki ]

This is the recently released Art-figures: Navy Seal Special 1/6 scale AF Collectible Figure OR they could have just called this the "Tears of the Sun" Bruce Willis as Lt A K Waters 12-inch Figure because that is exactly what this boxed figure set is about.

New from Art-figures: Navy Seal Special OR Lt A K Waters (Bruce Willis) 12-inch Figure

"Tears of the Sun" is a 2003 American war film, depicting a United States Navy SEAL team rescue mission amidst a civil war in the West African country of Nigeria. Lt. A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) commands the team sent to rescue U.S. citizen Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci) from the civil war en route to her jungle hospital.

And now coming from Art-figures will be this 1/6 scale Navy Seal Special Forces 12-inch figure that bears a strong resemblance to Bruce Willis as Lieutenant A.K. Waters as he appeared in the film, including the attire he wore i.e. Woodlands camouflage outfit plus gear and accessories.

1:6 Bruce Willis as John McClane from Die Hard - FINAL version

This will be the final look of my 1:6 scale Bruce Willis as John McClane 12-inch figure from DIE HARD. I wasn't totally happy with the overly dirtied shirt that Brother Production included with their Natural Born Hero Series 001 New York Detective "Dirty Johnny" 1:6 scale figure (worldwide limited to 150 pieces) which I'd reviewed earlier HERE, so I switched shirts and included a few other items.

Brother Production "Dirty Johnny" (Bruce Willis as John McClane) REVIEW II

continued from an earlier post...

John McClane is a fictional character and the protagonist in the Die Hard series of films. He is portrayed by actor Bruce Willis in the four films, beginning with Die Hard in 1988. He is described as being a foul-mouthed, wisecracking, no-nonsense New York cop with an itchy trigger finger, an aversion to Eurotrash terrorists, and a never-say-die spirit. [source: wiki]

This is the recently released Brother Production Presents Natural Born Hero Series 001 New York Detective "Dirty Johnny" 1:6 scale 12-inch figure (worldwide limited to 150 pieces) with a very distinct Bruce Willis head sculpt. Here's a shot of him without his shirt, wearing just his undershirt (tank top / singlet), shoulder holster with Beretta 92FS pistol and a spare pistol magazine in the double magazine pouch, Police Badge, watch, pants with leather belt, socks and shoes.

In the third film, "Die Hard with a Vengeance", McClane is back in New York. He must solve a number of riddles and challenges put to him by terrorist Simon Peter Gruber (Jeremy Irons) in order to keep the bombs from going off.
