The film is based on events in Tombstone, Arizona, including the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and the Earp Vendetta Ride, during the 1880s. It depicts a number of western outlaws and lawmen, such as Wyatt Earp, William Brocius, Johnny Ringo, and Doc Holliday. Kurt Russell portrays Wyatt Earp.

WOLFKING Western Story 1:6 scale Red Head Danny 12-inch action figure - smoke not included

This WOLFKING Western Story 1:6 scale Red Head Danny 12-inch wild west action figure has a rather strong anime vibe to it. I can't put my finger on it but I keep thinking I've seen this character before or he looks very similar to another cartoon / anime or manga character. Perhaps he reminds me a little of Daisuke Jigen, a fictional character created by Monkey Punch for his manga series Lupin III, which debuted in Weekly Manga Action on August 10, 1967. Jigen is the trigger man, sharpshooter, aide-de-camp and close friend of Arsène Lupin III. Another reason is the ridiculous looking revolvers with the huge barrels and the super pointy cowboy boots, all of which can only be anime / manga inspired.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a 1966 Italian epic Spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach in the title roles respectively. The film is known for Leone's use of long shots and close-up cinematography, as well as his distinctive utilization of violence, tension, and stylistic gunfights. The plot revolves around three gunslingers competing to find fortune in a buried cache of Confederate gold amidst the violent chaos of the American Civil War (specifically the New Mexico Campaign in 1862), while participating in many battles and duels along the way.

In the Southwest during the Civil War, a mysterious stranger, Joe (Clint Eastwood), and a Mexican outlaw, Tuco (Eli Wallach), form an uneasy partnership -- Joe turns in the bandit for the reward money, then rescues him just as he is being hanged. When Joe's shot at the noose goes awry during one escapade, a furious Tuco tries to have him murdered. The men re-team abruptly, however, to beat out a sadistic criminal and the Union army and find $20,000 that a soldier has buried in the desert.

Clint Eastwood is "Blondie" (a.k.a. the Man with No Name): The Good, a subdued, cocksure bounty hunter who teams with Tuco, and Angel Eyes temporarily, to find the buried gold. Blondie and Tuco have an ambivalent partnership. Tuco knows the name of the cemetery where the gold is hidden, but Blondie knows the name of the grave where it is buried, forcing them to work together to find the treasure. In spite of this greedy quest, Blondie's pity for the dying soldiers in the chaotic carnage of the War is evident. "I've never seen so many men wasted so badly," he remarks. He also comforts a dying soldier by laying his coat over him and letting him smoke his cigar.

R.I.P.D. is a 2013 American science fiction action-comedy film starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. Robert Schwentke directed the film based on a screenplay adapted from the comic book Rest in Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov.

Veteran lawman Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges) works for the R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department), a legendary police force charged with finding monstrous spirits who are disguised as ordinary people but are trying to avoid their final judgment by hiding out among the living. When Roy and his new partner, Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds), uncover a plot that could end all life, they must discover a way to restore the cosmic balance or else watch the tunnel to the afterlife start sending angry souls back to the world of the living.

This looks like a 1:6 scale version of Jeff Bridges as Roycephus "Roy" Pulsipher, a United States Marshal and former American Civil War soldier from the Wild West and veteran officer of the R.I.P.D.

Incoming: Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant – 1/7 scale Batman: Timeless Wild West

Imagining Batman in the wild west is not new. DC Comics did publish a wild west Batman comic as part of their "Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne" 6-issue limited series and there was even an action figure released as well. That particular Wild West Batman action figure didn't grab my attention.

But this one certainly did!

From Square Enix comes this Play Arts Kai "Batman Timeless" line which will be depicting the Dark Knight in various time periods and the first figure out of the DC Comics variant series will be Batman: Timeless Wild West and he looks mighty interesting.

This new interpretation of the Dark Knight sees him fully fully outfitted for the wild west frontier with a detailed cowboy costume consisting of cowboy hat, distinctive mask, wild west style outfit, chaps, spurs cowboy boots, cowboy belt with holster, grapple gun, batarang, knife, tomahawk axe and extra interchangeable hands. The brown colors make him stand out a little too much although the leather texture looks nice. I would have preferred if they had worked with black or very dark grey colors. He's the DARK Knight after all ;p

It's fast coming to the end of the year. It's going to be another year, another milestone. It's quite amazing how fast time flies when you are having FUN! These are some of the stuff I managed to get for the second half of November 2014. I already posted an entry of my early November 2014 haul HERE. These are things that came after the earlier haul. Hot Toys MMS217 The Lone Ranger: 1/6 scale Johnny Depp as Tonto Collectible Figure Review2

Having already done a first part review earlier, I wanted to go into the nice details that come with this movie-accurate Hot Toys MMS217 (Movie Masterpiece Series) The Lone Ranger: 1/6th scale Tonto Collectible Figure. Tonto features: Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Johnny Depp as Tonto head sculpt with real-like facial expression, detailed wrinkles, face paint and gesture as seen in The Lone Ranger. Includes real fabric hair implantation in black long straight hair with tribal accessories plus detailed crow and bandana sculpture on head.

Johnny Depp's Tonto character wears black-and-white face paint and a deceased crow on his head. According to Depp, the inspiration for the costume was a painting entitled I Am Crow by Kirby Sattler. I wasn't used to the look of this Tonto as he was definitely different from all the other Tontos I've come to know. I guess Depp was trying to take the character to another level just like what he did with the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (see my post HERE where I covered the various 1/6 scale Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow head sculpts that have been released by Hot Toys)

Johnny Depp's Tonto costume is made up of: One black and bronze-colored tribal necklace, One leather-like black belt, One multi-colored belt, One orange-colored belt, One pair of brown pants with pouch and tribal decorations, One pair of brown moccasins. He also has on him One brown and white tribal armband, One white and bronze-colored bracelet, One bronze-colored bracelet. Weapons: One dagger with sheath, Two axes, One revolver. Unfortunately, he doesn't come with a trigger hand for holding the revolver even though he comes with seven interchangeable hands.

Review 1: Hot Toys MMS217 The Lone Ranger: 1/6th Johnny Depp as Tonto Collectible Figure

The Lone Ranger is a 2013 American action western film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films and directed by Gore Verbinski. Based on the radio series of the same name, the film stars Johnny Depp as Tonto, the narrator of the events, and Armie Hammer as John Reid (The Lone Ranger). It relates Tonto's memories of the duo's earliest efforts to subdue the immoral actions of the corrupt and bring justice in the American Old West. It is the first theatrical film featuring the Lone Ranger and Tonto characters in more than 32 years.

It was a box office bomb! Critics praised the acting performances, western style, but criticized the long length and lack of originality. Charlie McCollum of the San Jose Mercury News wrote, "In the end, The Lone Ranger is one hot mess — an entertaining one, to be sure, but still a mess."

That aside, we have Johnny Depp as Tonto. He seems to pop up as part of Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series collectible figure rather often. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark / Iron Man have also been produced a lot of times by Hot Toys but that's always as Tony Stark / Iron Man (one of Hot Toys' cash cow). Johnny Depp has appeared as different characters each time - as Captain Jack Sparrow (three times), as Edward Scissorhands, as Sweeney Todd, and now as Tonto. Medicom Toys has also released 1/6 scale versions of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Ichabod Crane, Sweeney Todd and Mad Hatter.

Wild West forts weren't built to withstand sieges, simply because the Natives had no opportunity to use artillery or even massed assaults (except for very rare situations). The Army had no need to prepare for any sort of large scale battle, and instead needed to construct something that could at least keep the Natives out as well as to secure an area and give a location that soldiers and civilians could retreat to if necessary.

Besides the fort itself and soldiers, Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave set also came with two Native Americans and their horse, plus weapons. The horse is different from that of the United States Cavalry and both American Indians are not identical.

Indigenous peoples of the United States are commonly known as Native Americans or American Indians, and Alaskan Natives. The European colonization of the Americas forever changed the lives and cultures of the peoples of the continents. Although the exact pre-contact population of the Americas is unknown, scholars estimate that Native American populations diminished by between 80 and 90% within the first centuries of contact with Europeans. Native Americans suffered high mortality rates due to their lack of prior exposure to these diseases. "Welcome to the Wild West!" Review of Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave – Call for the Cavalry!

As a kid growing up in the 70s, Westerns were the stable on television at the time with TV shows like "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin", "Bonanza", "Gunsmoke", "Have Gun – Will Travel", "Kung Fu", "The Lone Ranger", "The Wild Wild West" and "Zorro". So it was no surprise that I had a thing for cowboys and indians and it formed a part of my childhood. The Western Fort was something I was always into because they were built like the medieval castles, as a stronghold with high walls to protect those within and keep out intruders.

I got a huge surprise the other day when my wonderful wife decided to get me the Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave set out of the blue, no occasion called for it. She knew I was into Playmobil because in some way, they were the mini-mes to the 1/6 scale figures I collect. One of the earliest Playmobil figures I got was the Playmobil 3949 Deep Sea Diver (reviewed HERE) which was a miniaturised version of the GI Joe 1/6 scale 12 inch Deep Sea Diver (posted HERE). Since then, I've always been on a look out for similar Playmobil figures and the collection has grown.

But I have never bought any play sets because they were huge and would need a large display area. Knowing my liking for this particular Playmobil Western Fort Brave set, my dear wife decided to splurge and got me this fortress which I was obviously not going to decline :) This is the biggest Playmobil set I've ever owned and will probably be the only fort set I'll ever have.

Incoming: COO MODEL - Item No: 18002 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brothers #2 - improvement?

It seems Coo Model does take collectors' feedback and comments into account. After the horrendous looking previews of the Coo Model Item No:18001 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brothers Big Brother (with Movable eyes) - pictures HERE - COO MODEL has now released new pictures of their Item No: 18002 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brother #2 12-inch cowboy skeleton figure. What's the difference? Coo Model has decided to go back to using the realistic looking skull head and skeletal hands from their original 12-inch skeleton soldier figure (to be reviewed in the NEXT post) which looks much better IMHO

COO MODEL Item No: 18002 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brothers #2 12-inch skeleton figure will come with 1/6 scale skull Head, 12-inch Skeleton body, skeletal Hands x 6, a pair of cowboy Shoes, cowboy Hat, gun Belt and normal belt, two Holsters, Shotgun (looks like a Winchester 1866 Model Yellow Boy), Pistol / Revolver (looks like a Colt 1851 Navy .36 with cartridge conversion), Metal Bullets x 6, Shotgun bullets x 6 (Winchester comes with shotgun cartridges?), pair of Eyes, Robe, Scarf, Clothes (?)

The 1/6 scale outfit and accessories, including weapons included with this set is almost identical with Coo Model Item No:18001 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brother BOSS figure (except for the vest with nipple tassels? hahaha) which makes me wonder if Coo Model will be releasing both versions (different item numbers) or just this latest version after getting all the negative feedback regarding the first previewed version. This definitely looks much better than the previous version (seen HERE) but how well it does will depend on the final factor and that is the PRICE! How much will this cost?
