First sent as a holding force to shore up the Italian defense of their African colonies, the formation fought on in Africa, under various appellations, from March 1941 until its surrender in May 1943. The unit's best known commander was Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.

Soldier Story 1/6th scale Kommando Spezialkräfte Marine VBSS (KSM-VBSS) with LIGHT-UP GPNVG-18!

Germany's postwar commando amphibious warfare force are called the Kampfschwimmer ("Combat Swimmers", abbreviated "KSM") or Verwendungsgruppe 3402 (Deployment Group 3402). They are the only special-purpose force of the German Navy. The Kampfschwimmer were set up particularly because Germany joined NATO and there was felt to be risk of war with the Soviet Union. A unit was needed which could help to secure the Baltic Sea exits through the Danish Straits. On 1 August 1958 Group 3402, as these commando frogmen were called by the navy, was set up.

The Axis Powers is a term for those participants in World War II opposed to the Allies. The three major Axis powers, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and the Japanese empire, referred to themselves as the "Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis." The Axis powers ruled empires that dominated large portions of Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, but they were ultimately defeated at the end of World War II.

The Wehrmacht (lit. "defence force") was the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1946. It consisted of the Heer (army), the Kriegsmarine (navy) and the Luftwaffe (air force). The Wehrmacht formed the heart of Germany’s politico-military power. In the early part of World War II, Hitler's generals employed the Wehrmacht through innovative combined arms tactics (close cover air-support, mechanized armor, and infantry) to devastating effect in what was called a Blitzkrieg (lightning war). The Wehrmacht's new military structure, unique combat techniques, newly developed weapons, and unprecedented speed and brutality crushed their opponents. By the time the war ended in Europe in May 1945, the Wehrmacht had lost approximately 11,300,000 men, about half of which were killed in action.

IMHO The German military uniforms of World War II were most impressive and appear to be the best among all the armies. They were the best looking uniforms (the sharpest) and the German leaders seem to understand the value of branding and propaganda - the Nazi party spared no expense in looking good while doing bad.

While cleaning the display shelves for my 12-inch figures, I always try to take group pictures of my collection when they are out of their glass prison. KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces Command, KSK) is an elite special forces military unit composed of special operations soldiers handpicked from the ranks of Germany's Bundeswehr and organized under the Rapid Forces Division. KSK has received many decorations and awards from NATO, the United States and its affiliates and KSK operatives are frequently requested for joint anti-terror operations, notably in the Balkans and Middle East.

From 1973, until the KSK’s formation in 1996, the West German (and later German) government assigned all counter-terrorist and special operations activities to the GSG 9, a highly trained police force created shortly after the hostage-taking that transpired during the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Prior to 1973, the army’s Fernspäher (Long-Distance Reconnaissance), the navy’s Kampfschwimmer (Combat Swimmers/"Frogmen"), and (until 1989) the Special Weapons Escort Companies - Sonderwaffenbegleitkompanien were the only military units comparable to anything that other nations may have seen as dedicated special forces units. In the HELLBOY comics created by Mike Mignola, Karl Ruprecht Kroenen was a relatively unremarkable Nazi SS scientist, whose most distinguishing characteristic was that he always wore a gas mask and protective bodysuit, which Mignola attributes to a disfiguring accident of some kind. Director Guillermo del Toro created a significantly expanded biography for the character, to appear as a villain in the 2004 film adaptation.

In the film biography, Kroenen became head of the Thule Society, a group of German aristocrats obsessed with the occult. He helped them to spearhead Project Ragna Rok, engineering the portal generator that would conjure the Scarlet Beast, Hellboy, in October 1944. A masterful fencer, he also became renowned for his swordsmanship and created his own signature swords.

During World War II, the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) raised a variety of airborne light infantry (Fallschirmjäger) units. The Luftwaffe built up a division-sized unit of three Fallschirmjäger regiments plus supporting arms and air assets, known as the 7th Flieger Division.

After mid-1944, Fallschirmjäger were no longer trained as paratroops due to the strategic situation, and fought as infantrymen. Near the end of the war, the series of new Fallschirmjäger divisions extended to more than 12, with a reduction in quality in the later units, which, however still inflicted moderate losses on the advancing Allied troops.

In 1944, the Germans counterattack across the Ardennes and the Meuse valley but they were eventually thwarted after fierce battles. Their most advanced position was the "nose" of the salient, just in front of Dinant and the Meuse river. They had wanted to move northeast and reach Antwerp and the North Sea.

The Ardennes (Luxembourgish: Ardennen; also known as Ardennes Forest) is a region of extensive forests, rough terrain, rolling hills and ridges formed by the geophysical features of the Ardennes mountain range and the Moselle and Meuse River basins.

Allied generals in World War II felt the region was impenetrable to massed vehicular traffic and especially armor, so the area was effectively "all but undefended" during the war, leading to the German Army twice using the region as an invasion route into Northern France and Southern Belgium via Luxembourg in the Battle of France and the later Battle of the Bulge.

Military camouflage is part of the art of military deception. The main objective of military camouflage is to deceive the enemy as to the presence, position and intentions of military formations. Camouflage techniques include concealment, disguise, and dummies, applied to troops, vehicles, and positions.

I think among all the combat forces fighting in World War II, the German military probably has the most types of camouflage patterns than any of the other armies. The role of uniform is not only to hide each soldier, but also to identify friend from foe. Issue of the "Frogskin" uniforms to US troops in Europe during the Second World War was halted as it was too often mistaken for the German Waffen-SS uniform.

Original Effect Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure Review II

This is how Original Effect Army Attractive series Vol. 1 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure looks complete with all her accessories. I had covered the basic female figure out of the box along with the box packaging, included comic in the previous toy blog post HERE. As I mentioned before in my part 1 review, this Original Effect Army Attractive series female figure is not really in 1/6 scale because she is 13.5 inches tall which makes her too tall to be one sixth scale. The leg joints are really really loose (did I emphasize that enough?) and her legs just pop out of her body when you touch it or brush against it :( Her corset top doesn't want to stay up and keeps sliding down while her skirt keeps sliding up and every time her legs pop out, you have to pull up her stockings and adjust everything all over again. Review 1: Original Effect (OE) Army Attractive series 1/6 Viola 13.5-inch female action figure

This is the recently released Original Effect Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola female action figure (femfig) which I had gotten in March 2013 (see my toy blog post HERE of my other hauls) but have not reviewed yet until now. Too many toys / figures and too little time ;p

Original Effect Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola female action figure comes with 1/6 scale Viola head sculpt, 13.5-inch tall female figure body with high-heeled feet, pair of gloved hands, revolver, cap, Bra / corset top, skirt, belt with holster, stockings, black overcoat with belt, arm band, cigar, tie and comic: Army Attractive Vol.1.

What drew me to this figure was the stylized female head sculpt (blond hair, blue eyes with the come-hither look - what's there not to like haha) combined with the German Nazi-like black dominatrix outfit, all of which speaks of seduction, submission and sensuality. Plus she's an "action" figure and you know I collect action figures and NOT dolls ;p a point I always try to make whenever I can - check out my post HERE for the differences between an action figure and a doll although the line can be rather thin at times, especially when it comes to female figures.

Incoming: MC Toys 1/6 scale KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte Flecktarnmuster 12" military figure

In 1976, the Bundeswehr in Germany developed a number of prototype camouflage patterns, to be trialled as replacements for the solid olive-grey "moleskin" combat uniform. At least four distinct camouflage patterns were tested during Bundeswehr Truppenversuch 76 ("Bundeswehr Troop Trial 76"). One was called "Dots" or "Points", and one was called "Ragged Leaf" or "Saw Tooth Edge". Of the patterns tested, that which is today known as Flecktarn was selected for adoption. The word is a composite formed from the German words Fleck (spot, blot, or pattern) and Tarnung (camouflage). The Bundeswehr kept its green combat dress throughout the 1980s, however. Preview MC Toys Armed Girl series 1/6 scale Desert Flecktarn Suit for 12" female figures

Flecktarn (German: "spotted camouflage"; also known as Flecktarnmuster or Fleckentarn) is a 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-colour disruptive camouflage pattern, the most common being the five-colour pattern, consisting of dark green, light green, black, red brown and green brown or tan depending on the manufacturer. The use of spots creates a "dithering" effect, which eliminates hard boundaries between the different colours in much the same way the squares in the newest digital camouflage patterns do. The pattern is designed for use in temperate woodland terrain. It has been adapted as desert camouflage by varying the colours.
