Studio Sundowner 1/6th scale Advent of Marvelous League Kinnara (Snow version) figure

Studio Sundowner new series of creation, Advent of Marvelous League, is inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. Fusing mythology, religion, and sci-fi elements, these form the background of this story in order to create a future world located nowhere.

Kinnara is careful person, with a strong sense of responsibility. Good at close combat, his major weapon was a pair of tiger paws and a pair of vajra pestles.

This is the limited edition Snow version. You can check out the regular version pics posted on my toy blog HERE.

Check out preview pics of Glitch 1/6th scale CMPLXD Batman 12-inch (32cm) action figure

Pre-order this figure at Glitch store (link HERE for regular version and HERE for deluxe edition)

From the same company that brought us God Complex and its myriad of uniquely styled heroes, Glitch now gives us a glimpse at a familiar character in a whole new different light. This is Glitch 1/6th scale CMPLXD Batman, an officially licensed product by Warner Bros & DC. IMHO It has more of a Batman of the Future vibe although the costume does look somewhat like it could be worn in the Victorian / Gotham by Gaslight setting. What can I say? I'm LIKING it :)

Glitch SVCX01 1/6th scale CMPLXD Batman Figure (designed by Bryan Lie) features: Batman helmet, Approximately 32 cm tall body with over 30 points of articulation, 4 pairs of interchangeable hands, tailored Batman suit, tailored cape, pants, bat emblem, gauntlets, utility belt, grappling hook gun, batarang

Studio Sundowner Advent of Marvelous League #3 1/6th scale Makora female figure preview

Pre-order from BBTS (link HERE)

continued from previous toy blog post...

As one of the 12 holy generals under the banner of Genesis, given that General Mao is so powerful that she could not control herself, Genesis decided to split her in half to balance her power, thus creating Makora and Mahoraga. The weapon of Pangu Axe that was possessed by General Mao was also split into Yaksha Blade and God Killer Hammer.

The relationship between Makora and Mahoraga are like yin and yang, who are both in opposition and dependant on each other simultaneously. Makora has a passionate and enthusiastic personality, but also tends to be impulsive and fractious, making her resemble the sun. Her weapon is God Killer Hammer, when Makora and Mahoraga strike together, the Yaksha Blade and God Killer Hammer they each possess can be combined into the Pangu Axe, thus demonstrating its apocalyptic destructive power.

Studio Sundowner Advent of Marvelous League #3 1/6th scale Mahoraga female figure will come with: Head sculpt, female Body, Shirts x2, Pants, cloak, hand types x4, Mechanical arm x2, Mechanical leg x2, God Killer Hammer, Mask x2, stand

After showing us the Monkey and Tiger, now we get the Rabbit. Nine more animals left in the Chinese Zodiac to be showcased. Keep them coming, Studio Sundowner :)

Mahoraga has a callous and calm personality, while her loyalty toward friends is hidden underneath her inaccessible appearance, making her resemble the moon. GOD COMPLEX gets the comic book treatment

Writers Paul Jenkins (Inhumans, Wolverine: Origin) and Bryan Lie team up with artist Hendry Prasetya (Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers) for an all-new mystery thriller in GOD COMPLEX, an ongoing series launching from Image / Top Cow this October.

GOD COMPLEX is set in the futuristic city of Delphi where a young digital-forensics investigator named Seneca finds himself embroiled in the bizarre murders of three church acolytes. Guided by his cryptic mentor, the Ruler named Hermes, Seneca uncovers a stunning conspiracy and a mystery that will turn his entire world upside down.

Join the GOD COMPLEX team on a unique vision of a digital future powered by mythological gods. GOD COMPLEX is the first original toy line-up from Jakarta-based GLITCH. It features sci-fi and high-fashion re-imaginings of mythological gods from various beliefs / regions like Greek, Egypt, China, and Japan.

GOD COMPLEX is created by Bryan Lie, who is GLITCH co-Founder and CEO. GLITCH is bringing the IP to worldwide attention, collaborating with Top Cow Productions to publish the comics to tell the rich stories behind characters and the GOD COMPLEX universe. The first comic is GOD COMPLEX: DOGMA and questions the nature of gods, religion, truth, and human faith, set in age of misinformation and post-truth.

I received this FoxBox Studio 1/6th scale "God Complex: Hermes" 12-inch figure back in October 2011 (see the action figure review posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE) and its blend of high fashion with mythical and sci-fi elements is still very refreshing up to this day :) I never tire of looking at the figure and marvel at the wonderful and clever design of Bryan Lie. Great to hear that GOD COMPLEX will be a comic book series soon.

Studio Sundowner "Advent of Marvelous League" General Antira 1:6 scale zodiac fantasy 12" figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

After WWIII, human civilization grows after a nuclear blast. Only 0.1% of the world’s population survived the holocaust. Many souls are unable to revive by entering the wheel of fortune, wandering between the spiritual world and our world. The spirits with a strong desire possess other people or an animal’s body, and even machines. They are called as “Armageddon-Atman”. These unstable and violent forms will become the nightmare and disasters of Armageddon.

The twelve Heavenly Generals or yaksha have different personalities. Some of them are fierce and some benign. Each of these twelve generals has seven thousand soldiers and dependents, and eighty-four hundred dharma mates. The twelve Heavenly Generals are divided into twelve earthly branches or twelve animal signs. They guard this world in turn 12 hours through days and nights, and the four seasons in twelve months (ancient classic).

General Antira – the guardian god of the hours of shen (3-5 pm). Passionate and energetic, he was a kind of action person. Good at close combat his major weapon was a subduing demon pestle. In the battles between gods and demons in the remote past, he was a comrade of Kinnara and a close friend of Pajra. At that time, they reanimated in this world with the summoning of the Psionic Association. They vowed to annihilate all “Armageddon-Atman” in this world.

Studio Sundowner "Advent of Marvelous League" #2 Kinnara 1:6 scale zodiac fantasy 12" figure

Studio Sundowner new series of creation, Advent of Marvelous League, is inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. Fusing mythology, religion, and sci-fi elements, these form the background of this story in order to create a future world located nowhere.

General Kinnara – the guardian god of yin (3:00-5:00am). With a yellow body, he appears to be angry. Wearing a tiger pattern hat, he holds a precious stick in his hand, according to historic documents.

Kinnara is careful person, with a strong sense of responsibility. Good at close combat, his major weapon was a pair of tiger paws and a pair of vajra pestles. Different from the guardian god of Antira, who was passionate and helpful, Kinnara felt nothing towards people and found their behavior foolish for destroying themselves by starting nuclear wars. However, due to his strong sense of mission, he put his prejudices aside and stepped onto the road to conquer.

When it comes to the Chinese Zodiac, most companies start with the Monkey but Studio Sundowner decides to go with the Tiger. An interesting choice nonetheless.

Seen@STGCC2015 Part 5: Glitch Network Bone Head TestSubject, LimeBones and GodComplex

continued from previous post...

Besides the other 1:6 scale figures featured at STGCC 2015 (shown in my previous toy blog post HERE), I found myself attracted to the display put up by Glitch Network.

Glitch Network has taken over where Foxbox Studios left off. Foxbox Studio came up with the concept of GodComplex and the premise that the Greek gods still exist and rule the world. In that vein, they created a whole world of Greek gods dressed to the nines in business suits operating in a modern world. And most recently GodComplex landed right at the heart of Singapore at this year's Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2015. More of GodComplex later in this toy blog post.

I want to bring your attention to the particular 12-inch figure posted. This is Glitch Network's Sixth Vision BoneHead Test Subject 56 1/6th scale collectible figure which comes with Authentic Test Subject 56 figure in 1/6th scale, 3 (three) pairs of interchangeable hands, custom Baseball bat with hidden blade (Die-cast), Mech Slayer and A5 size limited print. I quite like the overall look and feel.

Sixthvision 1/6th scale God Complex: Tsukuyomi by Glitch Network looks pretty awesome too!

God Complex: Tsukuyomi is one of the Three Great Rulers of Nippon. “Silence of the Night” is a title the humans gave him since he only appears during a stormless sundown. Being a quiet and reserved character, little is known about him. His mystery gave birth to legends and rumors. Ancient humans believed that the traditional blade he is carrying was so sharp that he used it to cut up the moon, and at every quiet night, he would slice it little by little to appease the wrath of the ocean until one day a new moon replaces the old one. Another legend said the moon was the eye of an enormous demon where misfortunes came from, and Tsukuyomi is the guardian of the night to protect humans from them.

It seems Foxbox Studio is no longer continuing the God Complex 12-inch figure series they started. See my last review of the 2014 Thailand Toy Expo FoxBox Studio exclusive Black Hermes Psychoprompus HERE and HERE. Check out the group pictures of Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex 12-inch Hermes, Hades, Inari figures posted HERE.

This latest figure from the God Complex line looks more insect-like as compared to the fox looking Inari figure. First impression I get of the head sculpt is that of a grasshopper which brings to mind the Japanese TV series "Kamen Riders" or "Masked Riders" which I watched as a kid -  check out my posts of the Kamen Riders HERE, HERE and HERE.

Group pictures of Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex 12-inch Hermes, Hades, Inari figures

continued from previous post...

After all that we have seen of the 2014 Thailand Toy Expo FoxBox Studio exclusive God Complex: Black Hermes Psychoprompus 12-inch figure (only 20 pieces were offered) which was reviewed earlier in my toy blog HERE with comparison pictures posted HERE standing side-by-side with the original (version 1.0) Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex Hermes (limited to 100 pieces), I guess it's time to put all of them together for a group shot / picture :)

Pictured above and in the rest of this post are the four figures from FoxBox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex series, with the latest 12-inch figure Black Hermes Psychoprompus standing in the centre and flanked by original Hermes on the left of the picture, Inari on the right with Hades at the back.

Comparison pictures of Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex Hermes 12-inch action figures

continued from previous post...

So far two 1/6 scale God Complex Hermes 12-inch figures have been released by Foxbox Studio and they are both extremely limited in numbers and hard to come by. The first hermes figure was also the first Foxbox Studio figure and since that figure's release, they have been on a roll and released quite a number of God Complex figures with more on the way. The God Complex line has struck a chord with many collectors and gathered quite a lot of fans to the story and styling. The designs are very unique and refreshing and offers collectors a different perspective from the usual military lines and movie related merchandise products / figures.

The second Hermes figure aka Black Hermes was released recently at the 2014 Thailand Toy Expo (which was held from May 1-4 @ Central World, Bangkok) as an event exclusive limited to only 20 pieces, and priced at 8500 Thai Baht, available via Raffle only.

So how do these two Hermes figures fare? Let's put these two Foxbox Studio God Complex Hermes figures side-by-side for a one-to-one comparison and see how different the second figure differs from the first. The latest released figure, Black Hermes Psychoprompus, is as the name suggests, very much black in color whereas the first released Hermes figure is predominantly gray / silver with a tinge of white.

Review 1: 2014 Thailand Toy Expo FoxBox Studio exclusive Black Hermes Psychoprompus

Backstory by Foxbox Studio:
Acropolis Inc., the first corporation to distribute energy to the people of Hellenic Republic, was founded by a primary Ruler, Zeus. Zeus has many sons and among them is Hermes. Although he is chosen to be among the big twelve in the company, he has never been Zeus' favorite. He is always the one doing most of the work even if the glory always falls on his brothers. Apollo being the great one or Ares as the brave one. While he never seemed to have much ambition, nevertheless cunning is Hermes' greatest strength. He needs neither physical prowess nor great charisma to get his way. Instead, he can manipulate Acropolis' dying capital utilizing only his quick wit, and although he never really cares about Acropolis' fate, he saved it time and again using his relationship with Hades. Despite being born a Ruler, Hermes is a human sympathizer and he will be a central character in aiding the humans to rise against the Rulers.

This was the 2014 Thailand Toy Expo (May 1-4 @ Central World, Bangkok) FoxBox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex “Black Hermes Psychoprompus” 12-inch action figure, an event exclusive limited to only 20 pieces, and priced at 8500 Thai Baht, available via Raffle only. I feel very privileged to have this limited edition figure for a review and to be able to post pictures for all to enjoy :) It seems like FoxBox Studio God Complex Hermes is meant to be a quite unattainable and very rare figure since both times he is released in very limited numbers.

This is Foxbox Studio's second 1/6 scale "God Complex: Hermes" 12-inch Figure, the first was released back in 2011 and there were only 100 pieces produced. You can check out my reviews of the FIRST Foxbox Studio God Complex: Hermes 1/6 scale figure HERE, HERE and HERE. Foxbox Studio God Complex 1/6 scale Hermes, Hades and Inari 12-inch action figures together

continued from earlier post...

I've already reviewed Foxbox Studio's latest release of 1/6 God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure with Kitsune Rod in my toy blog posts HERE, HERE and HERE so the next logical step would be to pose Inari alongside the other two previously released Foxbox Studio God Complex 12-inch figures: Hermes (right at the back of picture below) and Hades (on the left in picture below).

God Complex: Hermes was the first 12-inch figure to be released by Foxbox Studio back in October 2011. You can check out the reviews HERE, HERE and HERE. Hermes was followed by God Complex: Hades, released a year later in 2012. See the pictures and reviews HERE, HERE and HERE. Review III: Foxbox Studio 1/6 God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure with Kitsune Rod

continued from previous post...

This is Foxbox Studio's latest release from their 1/6 scale God Complex series: Inari, the ruler of Nippon which was first reviewed HERE. Being the third figure in the series and having learnt from previous experiences, Foxbox Studio can only get better and better :) In Japanese folklore, Inari is the kami (god) of foxes, of fertility, rice, tea and Sake, of agriculture and industry, of general prosperity and worldly success, and one of the principal kami of Shinto.

Drawing from that inspiration, Bryan Lie of Foxbox Studio has created a masterpiece in the Inari design by making the head / helmet look like a fox and also look armored as well. I really like the concept of Inari being white, whereas Hermes (reviewed earlier HERE, HERE and HERE) and Hades (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE) are dark gray and black altogether. The combined look of having armored helmets / heads with civilian outfits instead of elaborate costumes is also a refreshing change. These God Complex figures look like they just walked out of a fashion magazine. Scroll down to see more pictures of Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure with Kitsune Rod.

"What Does the Fox Say?" Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex: Inari 12-inch figure Review II

continued from previous post...

"The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)", is an electronic dance song and viral video by Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis. The video was posted on YouTube on September 3, 2013 and has over 174 million views as of October 29. Currently, "The Fox" is number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest-ranked song by a Norwegian artist on the chart since a-ha's number-one song "Take on Me" in 1985.

This toy blog post is not about the song by Ylvis but the timing could not have been any better haha. These foxes are part of the 1/6 scale accessories that came with the recently released Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure (see my first part review HERE). Foxbox Studio's previous releases of Hermes and Hades do not have any creatures accompanying them but Inari does because taking inspiration from Japanese folklore, Inari is after all a god of foxes, among other things. Review 1: Foxbox Studio 1/6 scale God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure - It's just WOW!

We break from regular programming to bring you this latest report :)
Foxbox Studio God Complex Inari 1/6 scale figure is OUT! And he looks FANTASTIC!

Backstory:
High strain between the Rulers and the humans can be felt throughout the Earth. However, in the exotic land of Nippon, a different atmosphere took place. Undeterred by the human's highly advanced technology and science in the region, both races live in harmony. The Rulers race in this region are a philanthropic bunch and using their connection to nature, they helped the people of Nippon to get back on their feet after their dark and traumatic past. In many places of the land, the humans built many temples in honor of their deeds, and more than one-third of the temples are dedicated to their favorite Ruler, Inari.

Inari shares many similar characteristics with one of the Ruler of Hellenic Republic, Hermes. They are not only similar, they know each other quite well. To quote the words of Hermes to Inari: "A guy as lucky as you, I better have you on my side."

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures of this latest release by Foxbox Studio: 1/6 scale God Complex: Inari 12-inch Collectible Figure.

Check out Foxbox Studio 00: Hawke (Ser Isaac's Armor) 1/6th Scale Custom Showcase Figure

From Foxbox Studio:
NOTE: This is a showcase item. Custom NOT for sale figure done by our artists at FoxBox Studio.

We at FoxBox Studio are a fan of Visceral's Dead Space and Bioware's Dragon Age series. What better way to pay homage to those amazing games by making a figure out of their mashup? So here is our rendition of Hawke in Ser Isaac's Armor.

The chilling tales of Ser Isaac of Clarke are a favorite of bards performing in the wee hours of the night. In dank taverns throughout Thedas, these horror-filled stories captivate listeners and bring nightmares to those faint of heart. — From Codex entry: Ser Isaac's Armor

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures. Since this is a custom figure and NOT for sale, these will be the only pictures we ever see of this figure. How's that for rare!

Preview Foxbox Studio "God Complex: Inari" 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure - It's so Awesome!

What a GREAT piece of news for the year-end and so much to look forward to in 2013!

Backstory from Foxbox Studio site: High strain between the Rulers and the humans can be felt throughout the Earth.

Inari is among the most fortunate of all Rulers. It is believed that many who follow after Inari will also experience great fortune, thus the reason he has many followers. He never let his stature to shadow his purpose and he walks among people as one of them, never to let them turn into zealots. Rumor has it that the Kitsune Rod on his right arm is his tool to annihilate misfortunes.
