Kitbash 1/6 scale Samuel L Jackson as NYPD Detective John Shaft

"Pulp Fiction (1994)" was widely considered the most influential American movie of the 1990s for its outrageously violent scenes, time-twisting events and most interesting characters.

The Oscar-winning script by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary intertwines three stories, featuring Samuel L Jackson (as Jules Winnfield) and John Travolta (as Vincent Vega), in the role that single-handedly reignited his career, as hit men who have philosophical interchanges on such topics as the French names for American fast food products; Bruce Willis as a boxer out of a 1940s B-movie; and such other stalwarts as Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken, Eric Stoltz, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, whose dance sequence with Travolta proved an instant classic.

Click on the picture for a larger and better view :)

When you search images of "Pulp Fiction" on the internet / worldwide web, the most seen image is that of the two hit men Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L Jackson) with guns raised and aimed at "Man #4". This image has been parodied many times.

Enterbay 1/6 Real Masterpiece Scarface War Version Preview

"Say Hello to my little friend!"

Scarface is a 1983 American epic crime drama movie directed by Brian De Palma, written by Oliver Stone, produced by Martin Bregman and starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana. A contemporary remake of Howard Hawks' original 1932 film of the same name, the film tells the story of Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who comes to Miami in 1980 as a result of the Mariel Boatlift, and becomes a drug cartel kingpin during the cocaine boom of the 1980s. The movie chronicles his rise to the top of Miami's cocaine empire.

Kitbash 1/6 scale John Travolta as Vincent Vega 12-inch Figure in Pulp Fiction

The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. "Pulp Fiction" is a 1994 American crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino, who co-wrote its screenplay with Roger Avary. The film is known for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and host of cinematic allusions and pop culture references. A major critical and commercial success, it revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta, who received an Academy Award nomination, as did costars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

John Travolta is Vincent Vega. Vincent is a hitman working for mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames). He is usually partnered with Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) when he is ordered to kill someone.

Incoming: Art Figures 1/6 Delta Force - SFC 12-inch Figure

There have been so many Black Hawk Down 12-inch figures lately including the ones I already have that I have a label just for them on my TOY HAVEN blog. Dragon released at least FOUR 1/6 scale Black Hawk Down figures, two when the movie was released in 2001 and two more in 2003 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Task Force Ranger's engagement at the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia from 3rd to 4th October 1993. That was followed by Playhouse D-Boy and most recently, VTS released their 75th Ranger Chalk Leader and also gave us a preview of their 75th Ranger Grenadier, Operation Gothic Serpent SOMALIA 1993.

Now we are getting PREVIEW pictures of Art Figures 1/6 scale Delta Force - SFC 12-inch Figure which is essentially a Delta Force operator in 1993 Somalia when the Black Hawk helicopter was shot down. The 2001 film "Black Hawk Down" is about how 123 elite U.S. soldiers (comprising United States Army Rangers, Delta Force, and 160th SOAR) are deployed in Somalia to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord and find themselves in a desperate battle with a large force of heavily-armed Somalis when their Black Hawk helicopter gets shot down.

In "Black Hawk Down", William Fichtner stars as SFC Jeff Sanderson (which is based on real Delta Force operator SFC Paul Howe). Art Figures 1:6 scale Delta Force - SFC 12-inch Figure is based on William Fichtner as SFC Jeff Sanderson, hence the 1:6 scale likeness / resemblance in the head sculpt.

CmToys H004 & H005 1/6 Roman Gladiator 12-inch Figures

1/6 scale Roman Gladiator 12-inch figures seem to be very popular this time of the year :)

Hot on the heels of the recent releases of Kaustic Plastik's 12-inch Roman gladiator figures and ACI's Flamma, CmToys has released pictures of their 1/6 scale gladiator figures as well. CmToys 12-inch Roman gladiator figures are based on the television series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand".

Spartacus: Blood and Sand is a Starz television series that premiered on January 22, 2010. The series is inspired by the historical figure of Spartacus (played by Andy Whitfield), a Thracian gladiator who from 73 to 71 BC led a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic.

The main actor, Andy Whitfield died on September 11, 2011, from complications of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Spartacus producers and Starz executives weren't sure they would go forward without Andy Whitfield, who they said had brought "gravity and heart" to the role of the famous warrior. "It's unheard of to recast your titular character in a television show, and we did a lot of soul searching about whether we even wanted to try", DeKnight said. "And then Andy [Whitfield] said, 'I really think the show should go forward without me. I give you the blessing. I want this story told.'"

Playmobil 4801 Stingray Bareback Rider

I've always been fascinated with the Manta Ray. They look so majestic as they gracefully swim under the sea. Manta rays are the largest rays and are closely related to sharks. These harmless rays have a short tail and no stinging spine. They are very acrobatic and have been known to leap up from the water. Manta rays have a distinctive body shape with triangular pectoral ‘wings’ and paddle-like lobes extending in front of their mouths.

I couldn't resist not getting this Playmobil Manta Ray when it was on sale recently. I do find Playmobil boxed set prices quite high as I feel that they shouldn't cost that much but when they are going at half their usual price, I jump right in :) hook, line and sinker! Click on the pictures for a bigger and better view ;p

Click on the picture for a bigger and better view :)

Mantas have a variety of common names, including Atlantic manta, Pacific manta, devilfish, and just manta. The term manta derives from the Spanish word manta, meaning cloak or blanket. This term originated from a type of trap traditionally used to catch rays that has a form resembling a blanket.

Incoming: Subway 1/6 Detroit 8 Mile Road "Eminen" 12-inch Figure

8 Mile is a 2002 American hip-hop drama film written by Scott Silver, directed by Curtis Hanson, and starring Eminem, Mekhi Phifer, Brittany Murphy, and Kim Basinger.

The film is an account of a young white rapper named Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith Jr. (Eminem) growing up in a poor area of 1995 Detroit, Michigan as he struggles for respect among his (mostly African-American) peers. Contrary to popular belief, the film does not detail Eminem's life growing up in Detroit, but instead, the average life of a rapper in Detroit, as stated by Eminem in interviews about the film. Despite this, the film is considered to be semi-autobiographical.

Subway will be releasing this 1/6 scale Detroit 8 Mile Road "Eminen" 12-inch Figure. The set will come with 1/6 scale "E" head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, Watch Hat (Deep Blue), Blue Denim Jacket, Gray Hooded Sweat Shirt, Light Blue Hip Hop Denim Jeans, Deep Blue belt with buckle, white underwear, V150 headphones, Sony Walkman, Wireless Microphone, Ballpoint pen, flyers x 2, pair of Direct Attach Soft Toe Work Boots (Tan).

Incoming: Brother Production Presents New York Detective "DIE HARD JOHNNY"

Yet another 1/6 scale Bruce Willis 12-inch action figure. This is also another Bruce Willis as Detective John McClane figure from the Die Hard film series. "Live Free or Die Hard" (released as "Die Hard 4.0" outside North America), is a 2007 American action film, and the fourth installment in the Die Hard series.

The fourth film "Live Free or Die Hard" aka "Die Hard 4.0" was released in 2007, 12 years after the third film "Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995)" but still proved that Bruce Willis has what it takes to be an action hero :)

Brother Production Presents New York Detective "DIE HARD JOHNNY" is obviously an unlicensed 1/6 scale Bruce Willis as Detective John McClane 12-inch figure as he appeared in the fourth Die Hard movie and I think this is the best interpretation of the famous actor as John McClane by far.

3A Real Steel Ambush Robot Figure Preview

A different type of gladiator from the one in the previous post but this fighter also fought in the ring, although it was a bull ring that we saw it compete ;p

3A (threeA) will be producing a 1:6 scale model of AMBUSH, the robot boxer from "Real Steel". Not a lot of information is available as of now so just enjoy the pictures released by 3A (pictures are from 3A website)

Real Steel is a 2011 science fiction film starring Hugh Jackman and directed by Shawn Levy. The film is based in part on the 1956 short story "Steel" by Richard Matheson, though Levy placed the film in U.S. state fairs and other "old-fashioned" Americana settings.

Review 2: "Astacius" Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Retiarius 12-inch roman gladiator figure

After revealing the Kaustic Plastik "Astacius" basic figure and the box contents in the previous post, I now present the fully equipped Kaustic Plastik 1/6 "Astacius" Retiarius 12-inch roman gladiator figure ready for battle in the arena!

The retiarius (plural retiarii; literally, "net-man" or "net-fighter" in Latin) was a Roman gladiator who fought with equipment styled on that of a fisherman: a weighted net (rete, hence the name), a three-pointed trident (fuscina or tridens), and a dagger (pugio). The retiarius was lightly armoured, wearing an arm guard (manica) and a shoulder guard (galerus). Typically, his clothing consisted only of a loincloth (subligaculum) held in place by a wide belt, or of a short tunic with light padding. He wore no head protection or footwear.

Review 1: Kaustic Plastik 1/6 "Astacius" Retiarius 12-inch roman gladiator figure

This is the Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale "Astacius" 12-inch Retiarius roman gladiator figure as he is seen in Rome, Italy, circa 300 A.D. I have already posted pictures of the box packaging earlier HERE, so let's go right into the figure review itself :)

Some information about the company that made these figures: Kaustic Plastik emerged from the ashes of Twisting Toyz, formed by Fabio Varesi, former Twisting Toyz historical chief consultant and Danilo Leo, former Twisting Toyz chief prototyper. Kaustic Plastik products are TOTALLY designed in ITALY. Being headquartered in Italy, they have wide access to some of the world’s finest historical artifacts out there and they have managed to bring these very fine 1:6 scale replicas to us.

Kaustic Plastik has taken some creative license with the 1/6 scale head sculpts of their 12-inch roman gladiator figures. The 1/6 scale head sculpt of this "Astacius" 12-inch Retiarius roman gladiator figure was inspired by Italian Footballer Francesco Totti.

Random Pic: Star Wars 1/6 scale Bounty Hunters

These are the 1/6 scale Bounty Hunters from a galaxy far far away...

The Star Wars universe is filled with these mercenaries for hire who tracked down and captured or killed anyone with a price on their head, although they were also known for doing nearly anything for the right price including the protection of clients. In all the Star Wars films, there has always been an intergalactic bounty hunter, starting with Greedo in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)".

These are some of the Star Wars 12-inch Bounty Hunters I've collected over the years :) Hasbro is the only company that has released almost all of the Star Wars intergalactic bounty hunters in 1/6 scale.

Click on the picture for a bigger and better view :)

In "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)", Darth Vader enlists the bounty hunters Boba Fett, Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM and Zuckuss to find the Millennium Falcon for a "substantial reward" aboard the Star Destroyer Executor. Scroll down to see the recreated scene in 1/6 scale :)

Playmobil Fi?ures - go figure ;p

Playmobil Fi?ures are a new Playmobil theme that was recently launched. Playmobil Fi?ures consist of polybagged Playmobil Figures, in two different assortments (pink for girls, blue for boys). They appear to be based off LEGO's popular Collectable Minifigires. Jamie Dickinson, marketing manager at Playmobil said: "The figure is at the heart of every toy Playmobil makes. It was the first Playmobil product designed, so it’s a natural progression that the figure has its own dedicated range with an exciting twist."

I was intrigued by this new Playmobil Fi?ure series when I came across it last Friday at Takashimaya. At SGD3.95, they were cheaper then the single boxed Playmobil figures (usually SGD5.95) and worth a shot. Anyway, for a mystery figure, being packed in a bag is way better than a box because you can actually feel the package to know if the Playmobil Fi?ure you really want is inside the package. And I only wanted a particular figure out of the entire series 1 line.

Review III: Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale "Celadus" Roman gladiator 12-inch figure

Here's the third part review of the stunning figure that is Kaustic Plastik's 1/6 scale "Celadus" Thraex Roman gladiator 12-inch figure. Having looked at the box packaging HERE, the newly developed 12-inch figure HERE and the ultra detailed die-cast helmet and armored greaves HERE, now's the time to show you pictures of how all the parts come together to make the whole: a complete Thraex Roman gladiator 12-inch figure! Verdict: It is EXCELLENT!

Even with the 1/6 scale die-cast metal Thraex Gladiator helmet and die-cast armored greaves, the newly developed Kaustic Plastik 12-inch Realistik Muscle Body stands steady and upright without any problem, able to take the full weight of the die-cast metal armor parts without falling over :)

Veryhot 1/6 USMC Barrett M82 Sniper uniform set Preview

Remember what I said in the previous post about Very Hot being a sniper company, going sniper crazy and just releasing every type of 1/6 scale sniper there is? Well, I wasn't kidding :) Very Hot is not just releasing one more sniper to the earlier ones they have already shown us, they are releasing TWO more sniper 12-inch figures.

This upcoming Very Hot USMC Sniper uniform set is of a USMC Marine sniper wearing the Desert MARPAT utility uniform (MCCUU) and will come with a camouflaged .50 cal Barrett Sniper Rifle, and is outfitted in coyote brown gear.

As with all of VeryHot uniform sets, NO 1/6 head sculpt or 12-inch figure body will accompany this uniform set. The pictures released with figure are just to show off the uniform and sniper kit and how the outfit looks on the figure so don't expect any BODY when you purchase this VeryHot USMC Barrett M82 Sniper uniform set.

Unlike MultiCam which is a single camouflage pattern designed to help the wearer hide in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions – It is a 7-color, multi-environment camouflage pattern developed by Crye Associates in conjunction with U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center (also known as U.S Army Natick labs) – the Marine's MARPAT camouflage has to be switched when operating in different environments, hence the need for desert MARPAT as well as Woodland MARPAT.

Veryhot 1/6 USMC M40A3 Sniper uniform set Preview

Very Hot might as well be called a company of snipers, i.e. 1/6 scale snipers ;p Very Hot really seems to be on a Sniper frenzy. Last month, they announced the early Iraqi War era USMC Scout Sniper uniform set, and the Tactical Concealment inspired Army Sniper uniform set, complete with CheyTac Intervention 200 Sniper Rifle.

Not having enough of snipers, they are now back to showing some love for the United States Marine Corps, with their USMC Scout Sniper Uniform and Kit Set in Woodland MARPAT utility uniform, complete with bergen and M40A3.

The US Army have their ACU and MultiCam while the USMC have their MARPAT (MARine PATtern) MCCUU (Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform). In fact, the Marines were the ones who were already putting on digital camouflage in 2002. When the uniforms were first introduced, Dragon Models Limited wasted no time in producing 1/6 scaled MARPAT MCCUU and the first of these was the USMC LRRP "John" in 2002. He came fully decked with his USMC MOLLE (MOdular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment) which consisted of his FLC (Fighting Load Carrier) along with his main rucksack secured to a lightweight frame together with his sleeping mat and additional pouches. Check out my post HERE for a look at this stunning figure that was ahead of its time :)

Asmus Toys 1/6 Sasaki Kojiro 12-inch Figure Preview

Sasaki Kojirō (佐々木 小次郎, also known as Ganryū Kojirō) (1585? – April 13, 1612) was a prominent Japanese swordsman widely considered as a Kensei, born in Fukui Prefecture. The literal translation of "kensei" is "sword saint". Thus, the term is considered by some to imply a higher degree of perfection and was an honorary title given to a warrior of legendary skill in swordsmanship. He lived during the Sengoku and early Edo periods and is most remembered for his death while battling Miyamoto Musashi in 1612.

This will be Asmus Toys upcoming release of a 1/6 scale Sasaki Kojiro 12-inch Figure which will include: 1/6 scale Sasaki Kojirō head sculpt and fully articulated 12-inch male body, exclusive sword, bucket, pair of clogs, traveling bag, metal stand and 3 pairs of swapping hands.

Review IV: Hot Toys "Resident Evil: Afterlife" Alice with Jacket

Having already covered Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS139 1/6 scale Milla Jovovich as "Resident Evil: Afterlife" Alice 12-inch collectible figure in three previous posts (last posted HERE), here's a final look at Hot Toys Alice female action figure (NOT a doll / dollie!) wearing her gray winter jacket with fur collar.

In the movie, after Alice (Milla Jovovich) manages to survive the plane crash that supposedly killed Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts), she is seen flying a two-person plane as she follows a repeating emergency broadcast from a survivors' safe haven known as "Arcadia" in Alaska. She hopes to reunite with the other survivors from the previous film "Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)".

In Alaska, Alice puts on this winter jacket to keep herself warm. Even if she's cold, we won't be able to see it (wink and cheeky smile). I've covered all the accessories that come with this Hot Toys "Resident Evil: Afterlife" Alice 12-inch collectible figure except this, the 1/6 winter jacket (described as dark blue colored jacket but looks very much blue gray to me).

Hot Toys 1/6 Edward Scissorhands 12-inch collectible figure REVIEW

Halloween (or Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. Celebrated primarily but not exclusively in English speaking countries, it is popular among both children and adults alike. Much of its appeal comes from its inclusive, secular nature and as well as the creativity and freedom of expression it promotes.

Since it's Halloween today, I guess it's appropriate to revisit a post published earlier on April 20, 2009 :)

This is Hot Toys MMS-82 Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6 scale fully poseable action figure of Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands from the movie of the same name, directed by none other than Tim Burton, most famous for his dark and often quirky films, such as Beetle Juice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, his reinvention of Batman and the sequel Batman Returns, Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride and most recently, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Johnny Depp is in seven of his films and Burton's wife Helena Bonham Carter has been in his last six films.

Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars Utapau Shadow Trooper Preview

The brainchild of Armand Isard, Director of Republic Intelligence and Director-General of the Senate Bureau of Intelligence, the shadow trooper division was created mainly as a reconnaissance tool. Designed to augment the dwindling number of ARC troopers, shadow troopers operate singly or in pairs. They operate covertly, yet still in armor, posing as mercenaries of bounty hunters to slip quietly in and out of locations while quietly gathering intelligence.

Shadow trooper armor is based on standard Phase II clone armor. Strategically placed magseals allow the attachment of deceptive plating that alters the appearance of a shadow trooper. Different styles allow the shadow trooper to appear to be Hutt-hired mercenaries, Black Sun operatives, or independent bounty hunters. The plating is primarily cosmetic; it does disguise a clone trooper's sensor signature against detection devices. The plating also alters regular movement, preventing observers from recognizing the characteristic "clone gait."

Pre-order Revoltech Pixar Figure Collection 002 – WALL-E

This is just too cute :) WALL•E, is a 2008 American computer-animated science fiction film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Andrew Stanton. The story follows a robot named WALL-E, who is designed to clean up a waste-covered Earth far in the future. He falls in love with another robot named EVE, who also has a programmed task, and follows her into outer space on an adventure that changes the destiny of both his kind and humanity. Both robots exhibit an appearance of free will and emotions similar to humans, which develop further as the film progresses.

WALL-E has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews among critics, scoring an approval rating of 96% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. It grossed $521.3 million worldwide, won the 2008 Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the 2009 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature as well as being nominated for five other Academy Awards at the 81st Academy Awards. WALL-E ranks first in TIME's "Best Movies of the Decade"!

And now Kaiyodo Revoltech is bringing to us this exceptional WALL.E robot toy figure as part of their Pixar Figure Collection. WALL.E Revoltechs up very nicely, too! Fully pose-able, with a gaggle of accessories, he's ready to recreate scenes from the Pixar movie or follow your own script. I think this is one of the BEST WALL.E robot toy figures I've come across :)

Pre-order Revoltech Finding Nemo Pixar Figure Collection 001

Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated comedy family drama film written by Andrew Stanton, directed by Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich and produced by Pixar. It tells the story of the overly protective clownfish Marlin (Albert Brooks) who, along with a regal tang called Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), searches for his abducted son Nemo (Alexander Gould). Along the way, Marlin learns to take risks and to let Nemo take care of himself.

The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It was the 2nd highest-grossing film of 2003, behind The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, earning a total of $868 million worldwide.

And now Pixar's Finding Nemo star Nemo himself is getting the Revoltech treatment as a fully pose-able figure. Yup, you heard it right – Fully pose-able fish! Includes different faces, and dizzy Dory as an accessory! Even his "special fin" is faithfully reproduced! Comes with two types of different facial expressions and the face can be removed so that you can easily change the look.

Review II: Kaustic Plastik's 1/6 scale "Celadus" Roman gladiator armor, equipment & weapon

We've seen the Kaustic Plastik Thraex 1/6 scale "Celadus" Roman gladiator 12-inch figure in the previous post and the boxed packaging before that, now let's look at the crazy details that are found with this boxed figure. All the Roman gladiator figures by Kaustic Plastik are completelly designed in Italy (Kaustic Plastik is based in Rome, home of the gladiators) with just the final prodution done in China. Kaustic Plastik is an Italian company and this gives them the opportunity to make a "direct" research on the archelogical places, where the Ancient Roman lived.

All the armor is made from die-cast metal and are based on the original models discovered in Pompeii. This gives the figure an added weight and also a nice feel to it because it is now heavier. Kaustic Plastik has taken note of this and has made the "LEGS stronger then EVERYBODY ELSE's (i.e. competitor's) in the market" so that the figure can take the full weight of his armor and equipment. Kudos to Kaustic Plastik for thinking of all these and coming up with solutions for collectors :)

This is the 1/6 scale Thraex Gladiator Helmet made of die-cast metal. All the metal parts of Kaustic Plastik gladiator releases (including the metal blades, weapons, pieces of armour and helmet are TOTALLY MADE of METAL! - how's that for authenticity!!) Even better, they are not the classic "white metal" often used in die cast productions but the "right kind" of metal for each piece. So the bronze parts are made in a league of Metal mixed with real bronze to get it as close to the real thing as possible. For this reason, the "look" of the armours as you can see it's totally realistic!!

Review 1: Kaustic Plastik 1/6 "Celadus" 12-inch Roman Gladiator Figure

MORE pictures of Kaustic Plastik's 1/6 scale "Celadus" Roman gladiator 12-inch figure. Having shown pictures of the box packaging in an earlier post HERE plus a brief introduction of the company that makes these exceptional figures, let's now zoom in on the figure itself.

This is the Kaustic Plastik Thraex "Celadus" Roman gladiator 1/6 head sculpt which was inspired by UFC Fighting Champion Randy Couture. The actual final product headsculpt is a VAST improvement from their earlier prototype preview pictures.

This is a totally new 12-inch body type designed, produced and released by Kaustic Plastik. Their body comes with 35+ points of articulation. The NECK and SHOULDER have internal mechanism hidden by the PVC Torso. This give a lot of flexibility to NECK and shoulder as well.
