Ace Toys 1/6th scale US (Mobile Strike Force Command) MIKE Force “Baron” 12-inch figure

The Mobile Strike Force Command, or MIKE Force, was a key component of United States Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War. They served with indigenous soldiers selected and trained through the largely minority Civilian Irregular Defense Group (CIDG) and were led by American SF and Australian Army Training Team Personnel AATTV. MIKE Force was a force multiplier, operating what is today called a Foreign Internal Defense mission.

MIKE Force was active under MACV, Army Special Forces, from 1964 to 1970 and under ARVN until 1974. MIKE Force waged special warfare against the Viet Minh, NLF (Viet Cong), and PAVN (North Vietnamese Army) liberation forces in various detachments, volunteering in support of MIKE Force missions. MIKE Force's mission was to act as a country-wide quick reaction force for securing, reinforcing, and recapturing CIDG A Camps, as well as to conduct special reconnaissance patrols. Search and rescue and search and destroy missions were also assigned. The conventional unit alternative to Special Forces detachments like MIKE was Tiger Force, which was primarily tasked with counter-guerrilla warfare against enemies from behind their lines that emphasized body-count rather than force multiplication.

A grim Jedi Master with an amethyst-bladed lightsaber, Mace Windu was the champion of the Jedi Order, with little tolerance for the failings of the Senate, the arguments of politicians, or the opinions of rebellious Jedi. Mace Windu is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by actor Samuel L. Jackson in the prequel films and voiced by voice-actor Terrence C. Carson in other projects. Hot Toys MMS366 ALIEN 1/6th scale Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley Collectible Figure Review

This was part of my November 2017 haul (posted on my toy blog HERE)

This Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS366 ALIEN 1/6th scale Ellen Ripley Collectible Figure was supposed to be released Q4 2016 - Q1 2017 but didn't arrive in Singapore until November 2017 which is Q4 2017 which makes it almost a year late. Quite a number of Hot Toys figures have a habit of arriving later than estimated recently, so much so I don't really bother with the projections anymore but just wait for them to turn up. I got my Hot Toys 12-inch Punisher figure even before Daredevil and Daredevil has already been released in many other countries. Alien is a 1979 science-fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott, and starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto. In deep space, the crew of the commercial starship Nostromo is awakened from their cryo-sleep capsules halfway through their journey home to investigate a distress call from an alien vessel. The terror begins when the crew encounters a nest of eggs inside the alien ship. An organism from inside an egg leaps out and attaches itself to one of the crew, causing him to fall into a coma. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Sigourney Weaver portrayed Ripley, the warrant officer aboard the Nostromo. The role of Ripley was Weaver's first leading role in a motion picture, and earned her nominations for a Saturn Award for Best Actress and a BAFTA award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Role. The producers wanted the Nostromo's crew to resemble working astronauts in a realistic environment, a concept summarised as "truckers in space". According to Ridley Scott, this concept was inspired partly by Star Wars, which deviated from the pristine future often depicted in science fiction films of the time.

TB League 1/6th scale Majestic Crusader 12-inch Female Action Figure - History be damned LOL

The Crusades were a series of religious wars sanctioned by the Latin Church in the medieval period. The most commonly known Crusades are the campaigns in the Eastern Mediterranean aimed at recovering the Holy Land from Islamic rule but the term "Crusades" is also applied to other church-sanctioned campaigns. These were fought for a variety of reasons including the suppression of paganism and heresy, the resolution of conflict among rival Roman Catholic groups, or for political and territorial advantage. At the time of the early Crusades the word did not exist, only becoming the leading descriptive term around 1760.

In the modern age, many liberties are taken. Because of political correctness and its sensitivity towards society, everyone has to thread carefully, watch their tongues and choose their words wisely for fear of offending any particular group of people. History has been tweaked and rewritten for the movies we watch because the films have to cater to every gender and race. For instance, the African Americans did not fight alongside their white American brothers in World War II but had their own Black units. However, in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Steve Rogers fights alongside both black and white American troops. Of course, it's all fiction since there were no superheroes in WWII either. In the film U-571, the Americans are the ones who capture a German Enigma machine in the spring of 1942. In reality, the Enigma was broken at Bletchley Park on 1 June 1941. The British had gotten their hands on an Enigma one year earlier. Now, with some wild imagination, we can have females fighting the Crusades. With long flowing hair even! Hahaha Fantasy Females are certainly the rage at the moment.

Aerospace engineer spends $70,000 on home fit for superheroes with $4,000 S.H.I.E.L.D logo

When he watched Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman 37 years ago, she became the first superhero he fell in love with.

Last year, Mr Jason Koh, 47, spent $70,000 renovating his five-room flat in Punggol into a superhero-themed flat. It even has a $4,000 S.H.I.E.L.D logo that is 2.4m high.It was so big that it had to be carried 12 storeys up to his home as it could not fit into the lift. A superhero fan since he was 10, Mr Koh decided on a superhero theme when he wanted to renovate his flat after renting it out for three years while working overseas.

The aerospace engineer had initially considered a Manchester United theme. Said Mr Koh: "I thought a flat based on one football club might be boring. And I have many friends who are superhero fans."

The flat features Marvel Comics and DC Comics superhero figurines, wallpapers and home decor items, such as bedsheets, cushions, a carpet and a clock. Displayed in a floor-to-ceiling cabinet in the living room are 21 superhero figurines bought for $7,000 from Hong Kong toy manufacturer Hot Toys. They include Batman, Superman, the Hulk, Thor and Black Widow.

Mr Koh also used a 3D printer to print unit-number plaques with the S.H.I.E.L.D logo. Said Mr Koh: "I am not young any more, so I want to spend my money on something that makes me happy."

He is not alone in splurging on his passion.

Hot Toys 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal The Punisher action figure and his cache / arsenal of weapons

What's the Punisher without his armory?

Hot Toys TMS004 Marvel's Daredevil 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal as Punisher 12-inch Collectible Figure comes with a Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) rifle, Smith & Wesson Model 327 Performance Center TRR8, GE M134 mini-gun and Ka-Bar knife. And not much else. For a vigilante who wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry, what Hot Toys has given the Punisher seems insufficient and inadequate.

So I thought I'll add some more weapons to the Punisher's armory. On the table are the Hot Toys Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) rifle with folding stock, removable magazine, detachable sniper scope and the mith & Wesson Model 327 Performance Center TRR8 but around him are other weapons added for effect. On the floor in front of him is a M2 Browning .50 Caliber Machine Gun. Next to it is the GE M134 mini-gun, 4-barreled rocket launcher - M202A1 FLASH, Valmet M78/83 with a synthetic thumbhole "Dragunov Style" stock and removable magazine, Remington 870 shotgun with a specialized under-barrel laser sight, Heckler & Koch G36, and AR15 carbine with reflex sight, suppressor, grenade launcher. On the 1/6th scale mannequin is a tactical vest with shotgun shells, three M67 hand grenades, two M18A1 Claymore anti-personnel mines in bags, binoculars and a Uzi submachine gun with extendable stock and removable magazine. Most are courtesy of Hot Toys MMS276 1/6th scale Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Matrix 12-inch figure from the 1985 American action thriller film "Commando". Review II: Hot Toys Marvel's Daredevil 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal as Punisher Collectible Figure

In Marvel's Daredevil, a Netflix Original Series, war hero Frank Castle’s life was changed forever when his family was brutally murdered before his eyes. Taking matters into his own hands, Frank decides to avenge his family’s death by eliminating all those responsible. Lethal with his methods, Frank becomes a notorious vigilante in the criminal underworld earning the moniker – The Punisher.

This is my second-part review of this recently released Hot Toys TMS004 Marvel's Daredevil 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal as Punisher 12-inch Collectible Figure which was part of my November haul (posted earlier HERE). In this post, I've removed his black leather-like coat which tends to restrict his movement as the coat fits very snugly. Also without the coat, you can see better the nice details found on the Punisher's bullet-proof vest with his signature skull motif.

Also like I mentioned in my earlier post, the Hot Toys body type used for this Punisher figure is not the best choice as far as the arms are concerned. The elbows are not double-jointed but uses a rotating hinge instead. This greatly restricts the articulation in the arms as you cannot close the gap between forearm and biceps. In the case of Hot Toys "G.I. Joe Retaliation" 1/6th scale Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock 12-inch tall Collectible Figure, the double-jointed elbows were used - see my review posted HERE, HERE and HERE. It didn't work for the Rock but it would've worked here because the joints would be hidden under the coat.

Hot Toys Marvel's Daredevil 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal as Punisher Collectible Figure Review 1

This was from my most recent haul (posted HERE)

The Punisher (Francis "Frank" Castle) is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru, with publisher Stan Lee green-lighting the name. The Punisher made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 (cover-dated Feb. 1974).

The Punisher is a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence, and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his wife and two children, who were killed by the mob for witnessing a killing in New York City's Central Park, the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry. A war veteran and a United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper, Frank Castle (born Francis Castiglione) is a master of martial arts, stealth tactics, guerrilla warfare, and a wide variety of weapons.

Jon Bernthal portrays the character in the second season of Marvel's Daredevil as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bernthal is set to reprise the role in The Punisher, his own self-titled series.

This is the Hot Toys TMS004 Marvel's Daredevil 1/6th scale Jon Bernthal as Punisher 12-inch Collectible Figure and he comes armed with a M134 Minigun. An M134 Minigun is found in a weapons cache uncovered by Frank in "The Dark at the End of the Tunnel" (S2E12). He later is seen handling the weapon in the Season 2 finale "A Cold Day in Hell's Kitchen" (S2E13).

She-Ra: Princess of Power is an American animated television series produced in 1985 by Filmation. A spin-off of Filmation's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, She-Ra was aimed primarily at a young female audience to counterbalance He-Man's popularity with young males. Unlike the He-Man cartoon, which was based on the Masters of the Universe toy line by Mattel, the creation of She-Ra was a collaboration between Filmation and Mattel. Mattel provided financial backing for the show, as well as an accompanying toyline. The series premiered in 1985 and was cancelled in 1986, after 2 seasons and 93 episodes.

The show follows the adventures of Princess Adora, Prince Adam/He-Man's twin sister, who leads a group of freedom fighters known as the Great Rebellion in the fight to free Etheria from the tyrannical rule of Hordak and the Evil Horde. With her Sword of Protection Adora can become She-Ra, just as Prince Adam can become He-Man.

Human beings seem to have a propensity towards destruction. There are many films that paint a dystopian future, a society characterized by human misery, as squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding permeate. Zombies and the undead seem to have a place in such a future and the remaining human race must fight for their survival against all odds.
