Anglo-Zulu War, 1879

The Anglo-Zulu War was fought in 1879 between the United Kingdom and the Zulus.

The 24th Regiment of Foot was involved in the Battle at Rorke's Drift, Zululand South Africa where about 130 British Soldiers stood fast against an overwhelming force of 4,000 Zulu warriors. The overwhelming Zulu attack on Rorke's Drift came a hair's breadth away of overwhelming the tiny British garrison. The successful defense of the outpost is held as one of history's finest defenses.

A film was made in 1964 of this battle: ZULU starring Michael Caine
