Medicom released this limited edition figure (only 1,000 pcs were produced) in 2004 [ Sorry Brad :( it's out of circulation, I think ] and I love the figure right off the bat! Came in a very nice packaging.
Snake is wearing the tiger-striped camouflage outfit over his D.A.C.Q.C. (Direct Action Close Quarter Combat?) Suit.
He is armed with a .45 Pistol with removeable suppressor
Attached to his web belt are his two ammo pouches and water canteen in holder
Also has his butt pack and radio in pouch
His holster for pistol
Last but not least, his combat knife strapped to his lower leg
Hey Alex! Thanks for the great photos of Snake! Like I told you before, you have an amazing collection of figurines - if I'm ever in Singapore I'd love to swing by and take a look (I'd call first of course)! I appreciate all the time, effort, and cash you've put into this - and then for you allow the world to take a look is icing! Thanks again!

Hi Brad, thanks for all your compliments and the correspondence we've been having. You are always welcome to visit and it's really nice to know that you appreciate my blog. I was searching the net before for pictures and couldn't find any; that's why it dawned on me that I should put some of my pictures so that others can get a good reference.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,
ReplyDeleteLove MGS !! Any idea where in Singapore can I get MGS action figures ?
cheers,
deric
Hi Deric, you can try China Square Central. The latest MGS by Medicom is MGS4 where Snake is old and wears a rubber suit instead of BDUs. Thanks for looking :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one sick action figure. I really need it :0 But now have to wait for the Cold War version.
ReplyDeleteHi Mohamad, Cold War version is equally sick, man. Gotta love Snake!!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S the REAL Snake! I really like all the MGS figures except MGS4 'cause of the rubber suit. I just hope that Medicom can do better if they make some other MGS figures.
ReplyDeleteBtw, Alex. Can I link you on my blog?
And can I borrow your "Direct Action Close Quarters Combat" line? 'Cause I wanna make a post about my Naked Snake ~Cold War~ version with his D. A. C. Q. C. suit.
Hi Munir, I didn't get the MGS4 Snake becoz I saw the suit & like you said, it SUCKED big time!!!
ReplyDeletePlease feel free to link to my blog :) I've put you on my blog list as well - nice "modding" of the two snakes BTW
No worries about the D.A.C.Q.C. term - I found it on the net as well - there's no copyright issue on that ;p
Yeah, it IS sucked.
ReplyDeleteA few days ago when I was playing around with my Old Snake, some part of the rubber is torn a bit. I try to look up on Google if they have any problems about Old SNake in US and well, there's lots of them saying something about the suit that can bring the quality down. And his M4 SOPMOD, too. IonPrime's review of Old Snake (from YouTube) also saying that his SOPMOD's barrel is snapped right off when he tried to bend it back.
Plus, check this; pitu23 also complain about the figure of MGS4 saying the price should be U$125 instead of U$175 ($300+ in both Singapore and Brunei).
And you already link'd on my blog. ;)
Alex, do you have any MSN or Facebook? 'Cause if you do, maybe we can chat sometimes.
thanks munir for the information. makes me really glad that i didn't get it at all. CHEERS!
ReplyDeleteHi there. love the medicom snake but im kinda disappoint abit about snake accessories which is so little compare to hot toys product where they gives u tons of guns and accessories like shiva in resident evil. Im just wondering because im planning to buy some 1/6scale gun for this medicom snake, will it fit to his hand. thnx.
ReplyDeleteHi wafissss, unfortunately Medicom's scale though 1:6 is much smaller than all other 1:6 figures from other manufacturers PLUS Medicom figures have even smaller hands which are actually not proportionate to the body so any other 1:6 product including weapon not released by Medicom will be too BIG for the the medicom snake to hold, and it will also look UPsized :(
ReplyDeleteThnx for the fast reply dude. man thats a bummer >..< i was hopping it does. just wish medicom put more accessories to it in to thier product. thnx for the info man :)
ReplyDeleteU R most welcome wafissss :) thing is, medicom is overpriced and just doesn't give collectors a lot of accessories, that's why many 1:6 collectors are dissing them CHEERS!
ReplyDeleteI've just brought a loose snake eater and the wet suit is 'flake-ing' off...kind of like the rubber substance getting old and detaching from the black elastic clothing underneath snake's uniform. It is very obvious on the arms and I have removed the 'rubber-material' from snakes black wet suit on the arms. Anyone had the same situation for their snake eater? Cause if this is a isolated case, then I might get a new snake eater ^_^ Please advise. Thanks Kok Heong.
ReplyDeleteThis is Kok Heong again. I've tried the pistols from soldier story and machine guns from hottoys, it do fit into snake's hand...in fact, the pistol included is slightly bigger than soldier story.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:- Correction; it's "bought", not "brought".
ReplyDeleteAnd must've been the quality of that suit. Just asking, where did you buy that loose Naked Snake figure?
'Cause I bought 2 Naked Snake ~Cold War ver.~ from one of my local toy shop and they all fine. I recommend you to buy the box set rather than a loose figure.
Hi, this is Kok Heong. I've bought the toy from an ebayer with i.d Kenshin_7278 and he said that the toy is only taken out for inspection only and then placed back. When the snake came, the suit around the arms already had some tear and when I touch it, the black rubber substances came off and I have no choice but to remove all of them. I guess I've been conned. Now thinking of getting a new snake eater from USA.
ReplyDeletehey Kok Heong, sounds like the curse of disintegrating rubber due to humidity in stored boxes. Some products / outfits with rubber and or leather material will decompose when kept in the box over a long period of time. all my MGS figures are displayed and they are still good :)
ReplyDeleteI once bought a very old (vintage) boxed Action Man uniform set and when the package arrived, I opened it and when I picked up the uniform, it just disintegrated in front of me. I found out later that it was the black dye used on the outfit which caused it to become brittle over time being stored in the same position and disintegrate the moment the package was opened. The same outfit which was put on a figure and sold as a loose item was still good.
Hi alex, kok heong again ^_^ I've just found out that there are reproduction of this snake figure and had bidded on one in ebay. The guy said it is new batch...hopefully the figure will come with ok and better wetsuit. I intend to keep the new figure in it's sealed box but after you have said, I don't know whether to get another one...but already bidded on the auction and it will be ending soon. I think this snake I have had been taken out before and played with, thus the rubber cracked. I found that the alternate hands was placed at the wrong slot :O I think if I win this snake in ebay, then I will put dehuminifiers in the box to remove the moisture.
ReplyDeleteHi, cool figure review. I'm about to buy one MGS3 figure, the zombie camo one. Just wanted to check the figure comes with a rubber suit underneath? cos I've got bad bad experience with medicom figures rubber/ pvc suits be it displayed or left inside boxes for long time. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe rubber suits on mine are still okay but I agree: careful when you buy - best if you can check the rubber suit condition. CHEERS
ReplyDeleteOk, guess I have to check carefully first, Thanks for the tips. & freakin cool collection you have there!
