Other than the impressive AT-AT Imperial Walkers we saw on Hoth in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, we were also introduced to the Imperial Snowtroopers of the Galactic Empire. Just as I was "wowed" by the Stormtroopers in Episode IV, the Snowtroopers were no different.
Equipped with breath heaters under their face masks and their backpack heater cum comms unit, they were able to operate in ice and snow environments.
Together with their AT-AT Driver, Hasbro released the Snowtrooper in 1998.
hey i have was wondering if this snowtrooper came from this toy set. i never seen this set anywhere else unless im not looking hard enough. and its for sale.

ReplyDeletei posted the photos on my blog
hey cheko, yup that's the one :) The snowtrooper was also sold as a single boxed piece which is what i got. Many of the face mask/hood has deteriorated over the years
ReplyDeleteBTW, those are very nice pictures you took
oh thanks man im still learning.
ReplyDeleteoh i was wondering how much do you thing the set that i have is worth. im thinking of getting rid of it. and i have no idea what its worth.
hi, nice blog, great figures...
ReplyDeleteis it possible to customized this figure like using a different base body, are the clothings/accesories on this figure easy to remove?
is the hood on the helmet made of plastic or cloth ??? the helmet is removable right???
thanks, AL.
hi there, thanks for the compliments :) i haven't tried customizing this figure as I've displayed it as it is since i got it. Hasbro used their older Hall of Fame type bodies for these figures and that makes the uniform larger because of the bulkier bodies plus slightly shorter arms. the snowtrooper is not really wearing a helmet but the entire head consists of the helmet and hood.
ReplyDeletehi again, i was able to purchased this snowtrooper! yep as you said the helmet is connected to a head! but read from some forum that this can be separated, its been glued, looks a lot of work to do to customize this one!
ReplyDeleteBut as-is out-of-the-box this figure is cool, i recommend it to any star wars fan!
Hoping Sideshow or Medicom or even Hot Toys will make this figure!!! :)
-AL.
Hi AL, glad you bought this Snowtrooper and find it cool. This 12-inch Snowtrooper from Hasbro looks good even with the Hall of Fame bulky body type, unlike their bloated, oversized and obese Stormtroopers which really sucked! Another Hasbro nice out-of-box Star Wars Imperial figure is the Scout Trooper (check out my post here: http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2009/03/star-wars-scout-trooper-by-hasbro.html)
ReplyDeleteCertainly hope that Sideshow will produce this Snowtrooper too as they have been improving on their Imperial armored troopers which they have been releasing so far. Forget Medicom (TOO EXPENSIVE - you can get two Sideshow troopers for the price of one Medicom figure!) - and Hot Toys ain't got the license to produce these, which is good in a way otherwise they'll jack up the price too.
my SnowTrooper is now ongoing a facelift hehe :) 'WIP'...
ReplyDeleteYes the Scout Trooper with his speeder bike! got outbid most of the time at ebay! :(
Thanks by the way for posting so many figures here, i get a chance to review them before deciding to buy :)
-AL
hey AL, it's my pleasure :) I enjoy reviewing them as well and sharing my passion (some would call it spreading the poison - ha! ha!)
ReplyDeleteUS is great in a way that you can still get stuff on ebay. There's not much of vintage stuff in Singapore, only new releases and even then, they go pretty fast. If I were to bid on anything on ebay, after working in the shipping and insurance costs, the item becomes rather expensive :(
So I'm glad you can still get good stuff over there.
CHEERS!
