The year is 2065 and Earth is under siege. A meteor has crashed onto the planet, unleashing millions of alien creatures, Phantoms, which roam the Earth. Decimating field and city alike, these predators are threatening to extinguish all life on the planet. Dr Aki Ross and her mentor, Dr Sid, have a plan to destroy the Phantoms without damaging the planet. Terminally infected by an alien, Aki holds the key to discovering the secret to defeating the alien predators.

Dr Aki Ross is voiced by the lovely Ming-Na Wen in "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within". It was released on 13 July, 2001 in the US and it was the first animated feature to seriously attempt photorealistic CGI humans.

Her gun and the 6th spirit, which is a plant. Dr Aki Ross' mission is to capture all 8 spirits and transmit them directly to the Phantom world spirit. This would free the Earth of the Alien intruders.

Shortly after the release of the film, Dr Aki Ross became the first computer-generated character entry in Maxim's Hot 100 - LOL!!
