C-3P0 and R2-D2

Just like Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, C-3P0 and R2-D2 provided the comic relief in Star Wars. George Lucas has acknowledged the influence of Akira Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress" on "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope", particularly in the technique of telling the story from the points of view of the film's droid characters, C-3PO and R2-D2.

Released by Hasbro in 1997, C-3P0 and R2-D2 are still in pristine condition. It's been more than ten years and no other company (Sideshow??) has released an update of this iconic pair in 1/6 scale. After all, they are two of the four characters to appear in all six of the Star Wars feature films, the other two being Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi.






C-3P0, the only character portrayed by the same actor in all six installments of the saga. In all his various appearances, he is portrayed by Anthony Daniels speaking with a british accent, much like the butler Alfred for Bruce Wayne/Batman.

R2-D2 - It couldn't talk but certainly spoke volumes to all, especially Star Wars fans and fanatics everywhere.
