From the movie "Aliens (1986)", a sequel to the sci-fi horror "Alien (1979)" by Ridley Scott, we were introduced to the United States Colonial Marines (USCM) with their warship the USS Sulaco, dropship, APC and so called sci-fi weapons of AD2179 which still used rounds (?!!). The marines were armed to the teeth but the firefight was one-sided with them being swarmed in the nuclear-powered atmosphere-processing station by the xenomorphs and had to rely on Ripley to rescue them.
Hicks is geared from head to toe with M10 pattern ballistic helmet, USCM 'warm, temperate' BDUs, M3 armor vest, helmet mounted sight with microphone stalk, shoulder lamp, motion tracker, hand welder and armed with the M41A Pulse Rifle (made from a Thompson SMG with an attached fore end from a Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun), a Remington 12 Gauge Model 870P Shotgun, M4A3 pistol and combat knife.
The M41A fires 10x24mm caseless ammunition and has a maximum capacity of 99 rounds.

Another member of the team is Vasquez (Smart Gunner)
Hot Toys also released The Power Loader with Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and Nostromo Crew Members Dallas and Kane
I like the HT "Alien" series. Didn't buy as there are too many of them in this series..Very expensive!!
ReplyDeletehi desmond, i only picked up Hicks and Vasquez. The others were like rehash with different head sculpts - wasn't thinking of building the squad either. But gotta get the Power Loader - that's a beauty :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Corporal 'better nuke the site from orbit, just to be safe' Hicks is definitely a smarter choice then 'game over man!' Hudson.
ReplyDeleteSome of those lines still crack me up. But I'll bet you would've got Hudson if Hick didn't come with a motion tracker.
On the subject, next time you watch the movie, pay attention to when they're running through the vent ducks with aliens hot on their trails,10x24mm spent casings can clearly be seen popping out, so much for 'caseless'...
hey tony "Aliens" was a GREAT movie - pure entertainment :) they certainly had some hilarious lines - just glad Hicks came out first along with Alpone & Vasquez. Hudson & Drake came later, otherwise I would've grabbed either one of them and still end up buying Hicks (it's Michael Biehn - Hollywood's military man!) Thanks for the heads up about the spent casings. Did you get the special edition DVD? It has 17 minutes of restored footage, mainly of the colonists discovering the nest as well as behind the scenes footage.
ReplyDeletenice.where you bought it from? On Ebay its like US$700 plus
ReplyDeletehi anon, i was able to get it when it first came out so i didn't have to pay the high prices i've heard it's fetching on EVILbay!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeletedo not think that using rounds in future is that wrong. Even in space is a decent balistic not to underestimate. As well those reasonable movie elements maked this movie so great.
