Rocketeer version 1 by Medicom, 2002
"The Rocketeer (1991)" is a period-adventure movie produced by Walt Disney Pictures and based on the character of the same name created by comic book writer/artist Dave Stevens. It starred Billy Campbell as stunt pilot Cliff Secord who discovers a jet pack that enables him to fly. The movie also starred a much younger and fuller Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, Timothy Dalton, Paul Sorvino and Tiny Ron Taylor. Set in 1938 Los Angeles, California, The Rocketeer's heroic deeds attract the attention of Howard Hughes and the FBI, as well as sadistic Nazi operatives.
Medicom released the first version of The Rocketeer in 2002. The box art is really nice and faithfully depicts the period of the movie as well as the late 1930s automobiles where the movie is set.
Medicom 1/6 scale 12-inch Rocketeer version 1 out of box. He only comes with one set of fisted hands (gloved, of course) and another pair of spare hands which is useless since as the Rocketeer, Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) never takes off his gloves.
A very good 1/6 realization of the Rocketeer helmet and outfit. The helmet isn't removable but Medicom had sculpted the straps under his chin. The helmet itself is very well done and movie accurate.
From the boots to the pants to the jacket, everything is done right :) The leather jacket has ACTUAL buttons and a working zipper. The jet pack is strapped in with a buckle like the real thing.
What's the Rocketeer without his rocket pack? This removable rocket pack comes already strapped onto the figure, which is a good thing as it is quite a hassle if you decide to take it off for whatever reasons. But knowing that it is removable is a bonus!
