Here's a kitbash 1/6 scale 12" SAW Gunner from the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, part of Task Force Ranger at the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia, 3-4 October 1993. I've posted pictures of Dragon 1/6 12" Master Sergeant Gary Gordon, US Army Delta Force Sniper Team Leader HERE, Dragon 10th Anniversary Commemorative Edition 1/6 scale 12-inch "Danny McKnight", Commanding Officer of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment military figure HERE, Dragon 1/6 scale 12-inch US Army Delta Force Snatch Team Leader "Jeff" of Task Force Ranger HERE, and Dragon US Army Ranger Staff Sergeant "Matt", 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment HERE. The Battle of Mogadishu was covered in the book "Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War" by Mark Bowden and made into the film "Black Hawk Down (2001)" by Ridley Scott.
This kitbash SAW Gunner from the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment is equipped with PASGT helmet with six color Desert camouflage cloth cover, combat goggles, woodlands body armor, t-shirt, three color Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU), US flag insignia, web belt with LC-2 Y harness, compass pouch, two M16 ammunition pouches, two M67 fragmentation grenades, two water bottles with pouches, M9 .45 ACP in M9 holster, M249 SAW (Section Automatic Weapon) Minimi light machine gun, knee pads and desert combat boots.
This is the Dragon 1/6 scale M249 SAW. The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) is an American version of the FN Minimi, a light machine gun manufactured by the Belgian company FN Herstal (FN). The M249 is manufactured in the United States and is widely used by the US Armed Forces. Comparing this to Hot Toys' version, Hot Toys 1/6 scale M249 SAW seems much bigger in size (I'd covered the Hot Toys USMC M249 SAW Gunner in an earlier post HERE)
I had covered in greater detail the "Battle of Mogadishu (1993)" as depicted in the film "Black Hawk Down (2001)" in an earlier post HERE
There's also a post on the 1/6 AH-6 Little Bird attack helicopter HERE
The machine gun is cool..
