Kitbash 1/6 Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane

Following the announcement of yet another Iron Man movie-related figure from Hot Toys, the Tony Stark (Mech Test version) - pictures HERE, it's time to look at other characters in the movie. Jeff Bridges portrayed Obadiah Stane in the "Iron Man (2008)" film. He shaved his hair and grew a beard for the role. Obadiah Stane was Tony Stark's 2nd-in-command but overcame with greed and a lust for power, he steals the plans for the Iron Man armor to create the Iron Monger armor.

Hot Toys has yet to announce plans for another character other than Iron Man Mk I, II & III plus gun metal version and lots of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) head sculpts so I figured I'll kitbash my version of Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane. This head sculpt and figure is from the Soldier Story 1/6 scale 12-inch Private Military Company Instructor set (previewed HERE). The sculpting and paintwork is superb, down to the veins on his head.

Surprise! Surprise! This head doesn't seem as small as the others that Soldier Story has been dishing out.

1/6 scale 12-inch Obadiah Stane and Tony Stark side-by-side

IMHO The Obadiah head sculpt is far superior than Hot Toys Tony Stark head sculpt. This was the first version Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) head sculpt that came with the Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark III version - more pictures HERE

Hot Toys latest version of Tony Stark is definitely a vast improvement from this head sculpt. With so many Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark head sculpts already, Hot Toys should consider producing a Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes figure from his upcoming film "Sherlock Holmes".

Now give us the 1/6 Iron Monger already. On another note, Jeff Bridges will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn in "Tron Legacy", a sequel to the 1982 film Tron. Medicom Kubrick produced some great TRON sets (group pictures HERE)

  2. @ desmond - I wasn't willing to pay the full price for this set until the recent TFH SALE which made it more affordable as the original set is pretty bare - good for bashing!
