No Country For Old Men

"No Country for Old Men (2007)", a crime thriller film adapted for the screen and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, and starring Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin, is an exceptional film that has to be watched.

This post has nothing to do with the film but just to state the obvious i.e. Keeping Up with the Jones Part 4 (Part 3 posted HERE). Almost all the 1/6 scale 12" figures with Sean Connery likeness in my collection is shown in the picture below. All except one - the Sideshow "Thunderball (1965)" Sean Connery James Bond because he'll feel out of place since he's not properly dressed, being in shorts and with his legs showing (pictures HERE).

Knight Hospitaller Sean Connery (more pictures HERE). As King Richard, Sir Sean Connery returns from the Crusades and blesses the marriage of Robin and Marian in the 1991 movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves".

Sean Connery as a British Army Colour Sergeant, 24th Regiment of Foot (posted earlier)

Medicom version of Sean Connery as Professor Henry Jones Sr, Indy's father in "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" (covered HERE)

The most recent 1/6 scale head sculpt of Sean Connery, Sideshow Collectibles Henry Jones Sr (reviewed HERE)

This one goes all the way back to Clark Quay Flea Market days - 1/6 head sculpt of Sir Sean Connery as CPT John Patrick Mason of Her Majesty's Secret Service who guides the NAVY SEALs and one Dr Stanley Goodspeed (Nicholas Cage) into Alcatraz via the catacombs beneath it in "The Rock (1996)" - GREAT movie!!

And this ones harks back to Sean Connery's younger days and his first James Bond film "Dr. No (1962)". "Dr. No" was produced with a low budget, but was a financial success, leading to a series of films that continues to this day. Sir Thomas Sean Connery's breakthrough role was that of British Mi6 secret agent 007 James Bond. He played the character in seven Bond films: Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Never Say Never Again (1983). All seven films were commercially successful.

This was Sideshow Collectibles version

And this is probably one of the oldest 1/6 head sculpts made of Sean Connery, produced by Medicom in 1998. He has an anime/manga feel to him but still unmistakeably vintage "Bond, James Bond".

One more Sean Connery figure to add to the collection would be hunter and adventurer Allan Quartermain from "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)"

  1. I watched the movie "No country for old man". The killer was damn big size, tall, scary and fierce..

  2. The killer was played by Javier Bardem, a Spanish actor who was also in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". He is the first Spanish actor to win an Oscar (the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Anton Chigurh).
