Hot Toys 1:6 Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel

It was Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel's (15 November 1891 – 14 October 1944) leadership of German and Italian forces in the North African campaign that established him as the Desert Fox. He is considered to have been one of the most skilled commanders of desert warfare in the war. He later commanded the German forces opposing the Allied cross-channel invasion in Normandy.

Rommel is regarded as a chivalrous and humane officer because his Afrika Korps was never accused of any war crimes. Soldiers captured during his Africa campaign were reported to have been treated humanely; furthermore, he ignored orders to kill captured Jewish soldiers and civilians in all theaters of his command. Besides the World War II German Wehrmacht Officer released by Hot Toys in 2001 (see my earlier post HERE), this was the only other Second World War military figure released by Hot Toys. Hot Toys 1:6 scale Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel “Desert Fox” 12-inch military figure of North Africa, 1942 came with Fully hand-weaved General’s Schirmmutze (Officer’s Cap) with captured British lightweight goggles, Tropical tunic with shoulder strap and collar patch over green shirt, Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, Red lampassen side-striped breeches, Field Marshal’s staff, General’s Green Overcoat with Afrika Korps cuff title, 10 x 50 binoculars, map and black riding jackboots.

Late in the war, Rommel joined the conspiracy against Adolf Hitler, but he opposed the failed 20 July Plot of 1944 to kill the dictator. Because of his great prestige, Hitler allowed him to commit suicide rather than be tried and executed. [ source: wiki]
