When Dragon released their twin pack of World War Two DUEL AT STALINGRAD 1:6 scale 12-inch Action Figures in 2001 featuring
Soviet Sniper "Misha" and
German Jäger "Major Kater" (everybody knows they are supposed to be Vasily Zaytsev and Major König from "Enemy at the Gates", a 2001 war film depicting the Battle of Stalingard starring Jude Law and Ed Harris), Hot Toys also released their World War II German
Wehrmacht Officer.
Wehrmacht was the name of the unified armed forces of Germany from 1935 to 1945. It consisted of the Heer (army), the Kriegsmarine (navy) and the Luftwaffe (air force).
This was only one of two World War II 1:6 scale 12-inch military figures released by Hot Toys, the other was another German - Desert Fox Erwin Rommel. This was early days for Hot Toys and way before their super successful venture into movie-licensed figures. And this was their attempt at a 1:6 scale Ed Harris head sculpt.

Also included with this boxed set: Fur-lined jacket, fully hand-weaved
Schirmmutze (Officer’s Peaked Cap), Luger service pistol with removable magazine and 6x30 binoculars
Hot Toys 1:6 scale WWII German Wehrmacht Officer comes fully decorated with lots of medals. He wears the German Tunic (Feldbluse) with Iron Cross, Silver Knight’s Cross (War Merit Cross), Wound Badge, Officer’s belt with leather holster for his Luger service pistol with extra magazine, Breeches (trousers), and jackboots.

Next: Hot Toys 1:6 scale 12-inch Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel
Did'nt know this was a Ed Harris headsculpt! I thought they base this figure in the Schindlers List movie. I think this was released same time as the movie???
ReplyDeleteHi AL, Schindler's List was released in 1993 and Ralph Fiennes was Schutzstaffel (SS) officer Amon Göth whereas this figure was released in 2001, same time as "Enemy at the Gates" and i do see the Ed Harris resemblance ;>
ReplyDeleteah hehe 1993? wow that long ago?!? my mistake, but yep this figure reminds me of the Schindlers List movie :)
ReplyDeleteyup, he looks more like a German officer than a sniper from "Enemy at the gates". i think Hot Toys was toying with the head sculpt to offer collectors more than one option, other than Dragon's version.
