HT T2 T-800 & Die-cast T-800 Endoskeleton

And here's Hot Toys MMS117 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" ("T2" for short) 1/6th scale T-800 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) collectible figure facing off with the Aoshima die-cast T-800 Endoskeleton. The Aoshima die-cast T-800 Endoskeleton is very heavy due to its mostly die-cast metal parts and has lots of working pistons and joints. The figure comes with a stand that clamps onto the back of the figure to provide stability when posing due to the extremely top heavy body.

A close-up comparison of the two T-800 heads - the Hot Toys version with Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness and the bare "bone" endoskeleton version without flesh and skin. When stripped of its organic elements, what remains is the machine itself, in James Cameron's own words "a chrome skeleton, like death rendered in steel."

And here's a merged photo showing how the machine is "hidden" under the skin. The Terminator is a formidable robotic assassin and soldier, designed by the military supercomputer Skynet for infiltration and combat duty, towards the ultimate goal of exterminating the human resistance. It can speak naturally, copy the voices of others, read human handwriting, and even genuinely sweat, smell, and bleed. To detect the Terminators, who are otherwise indistinguishable from humans, the human resistance uses dogs to alert humans to their presence.

Hot Toys "T2" 1/6th scale T-800 and Aoshima die-cast T-800 Endoskeleton face off. In all of the movies, this never happened of course. The first film in the series features only one cyborg: the one portrayed by Schwarzenegger. In two sequels, Schwarzenegger's Terminator is pitted against other Terminators, and appears briefly in the fourth as a CGI model. But it's always nice to see how they face up to each other.

As Kyle Reese (played by Michael Biehn in the first Terminator film) puts it to Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), "The Terminator is an infiltration unit, part man-part machine. Underneath it's a hyperalloy combat chassis, microprocessor controlled, fully armored, very tough. But outside it's living human tissue. Flesh, skin, hair, blood, grown for the cyborgs."

It has been shown that Terminators' flesh coverings are somehow grown identically, producing many multiple copies of the exact same physical appearance, indicating the use of specific physical templates for different variations of a model or series. The most well known is that worn by multiple T-800/850 Model 101 units portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The 'Arnold' model came to be known as the 101, which refers to its likeness and skin type.
