Now this is more my cup of tea. There has been quite a lot of hoo-hah for the upcoming Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention 2010 to be held at Suntec Singapore Halls 401 & 402 from 10-12 December with MORE emphasis on COMIC (most notably MARVEL comics) than toys which is quite different from how the show was envisioned at the beginning. For 1:6 collectors like me, there really wasn't anything exciting to shout about until now, well maybe a small cheer haha
Soldier Story together with U-toy will be releasing two Expo Exclusives at the Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention 2010 (STGCC 2010) and they look rather interesting.
One of the STGCC Expo exclusive will be a revamped 1:6 scale US Army 10th Special Forces Group operator in multicam operating in Afghanistan. The US-led coalition forces have been fighting the war in Afghanistan for more than nine years now, 7 October 2009 was the anniversary of the day in 2001 when the United States bombing began, just under a month after the attacks on New York and Washington on 9/11 (see my previous post coverage on this) and they are still there putting down the insurgency.
This figure had been released already this year (see my post HERE) but this battledress / attire is more updated and current (Gen 2 multicam uniform) than the previous and I'm glad that I didn't get it before because now I can get the exclusive version when it comes out :)
As you know, Soldier Story has been producing high quality collectibles from the modern military era and all their releases have been top notch, with each new release surpassing the previous so you know this has got to be GOOD :)
The other exclusive 12-inch figure to be released by Soldier Story at STGCC 2010 will be this Man in Suit with Advanced Narrow Shoulder body. Hey, if Hot Toys can do it, the others won't be far behind.
What is most interesting is not just the new Advanced Narrow Shoulder body but the 1:6 head sculpt and suit that it comes with.
It is none other than Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane from the first "Iron Man"movie. The head sculpt had been released earlier as well. Soldier Story had released a PMC Instructor in late 2009 with this same head sculpt (preview pictures HERE) which I'd used for a Obadiah Stane kitbash in December 2009. Well, better late than never I guess.
So head on down to Suntec Singapore when the show (i.e. STGCC 2010) opens from 10-12 December 2010 if you are keen on these.
All I can say is WOW!!! Are these exclusives sold only in the Singapore expo or are these available for retail online? Ma in suit is a definitely must have for me. Thanks sir for the link!!!
ReplyDeleteTo quote a fellow collector: "I am sure the overseas dealers will get this eventually. Makes no sense to make a very small production run just as an exclusive."
ReplyDeleteDamn..
ReplyDeleteNow I dunno if I shud get the SFG figure or the new marines figure...
@Alex do you think the release date for the 2 figures will be fairly spread out.. then again these 2 figures are somewhat similar..
dilemma lah...
cheers
WL
Wow!! I am keen on the Jeff Bridges figure. The suit is nice..U-toys is the official dealer for Soldier Story, that's why they can bring in this..
ReplyDelete@WL: one is ARMY and one is MARINE - you gotta get both LOL real dilemma indeed CHEERS
ReplyDeleteI really like the man in suit. Looks well with my HT Ironman collection. If I may ask sir alex, how much does this cost in the Singapore convention?
ReplyDeleteThe Man in Suit was selling for SGD99.90 CHEERS
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteDoes this men suit come with Jeff Bridges head sculpt and hands? I see the painting of Head sculpt is a bit difference from PMC instructor.
Thank you
