Remember when I mentioned about STIKFAS in my earlier post on FLEX champion HERE? Well, it made me go and dig up my STIKFAS figures from the store room so here's my first post on them.
The debut of STIKFAS was through a successful co-branding in 2001 with the computer game publisher, Electronic Arts. This collaboration provided a proof of concept and Stikfas Pte. Ltd. was incorporated in August. Work began on the first mass production model of the STIKFAS Action Figure Kit, which was made available to public through online sales at www.stikfas.com in December 2001. [source: wiki]
This Indiana Jones inspired STIKFAS figure was a result of combining parts from the Beta Female Safari with Jungle Cat set and the basic Alpha Male figure.
The Beta Female Safari STIKFAS figure was basically a female Indiana Jones figure although she came with a Jungle Cat. All the accessories could go onto a basic STIKFAS figure and voila, instant Indy.
Accessories included fedora hat, whip, revolver, backpack with water bottle and machete knife PLUS holy grail (identified as a cup in the third Indy film of 1989 "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade")

Other accessories included a Mayan Indian Aztec Inca looking totem, kerosene lamp (or paraffin lamp) and detonator plunger, all very authentic and Indy-related.
The first STIKFAS figure was the Classic Alpha Male Military figure. The product line subsequently expanded to include a whole host of products that really showed off the designers' imagination.
The design principle behind a STIKFAS is that all of the joints are ball/socket, and offer exceptional poseability, interchangeability and articulation. They are 3.25 inches (8 cm) tall model assembly figures / toys. Once built they can be customized with stickers (packaged as Stikers) and different pieces.
The news about the company's demise only confirms all the more that everything's temporal in this world. STIKFAS started out strong with lots of positives. STIKFAS was awarded the title of "Best Original Concept" in "Best of the Best 2002" by Wizard's Toyfare magazine and came in second for "Most Fun and Innovative Toy" in a consumer's poll by Toyshop Magazine. But all that is history now. The company may be gone but their product is still here, a legacy of their time in the sun.
Haha ! Didn't saw that Indiana Jones Stikfas figure yet. Really cool. These toys are very nice to animate too when beginning stopmotion. They are customizable, you can put them in nearly any possible positions and they are cheap.
