Soldier Story USMC 2nd MEB in Afghanistan's Helmand province PREVIEW

Soldier Story will be releasing another 1/6 scale USMC 2nd MEB (Marine Expeditionary Brigade) 12-inch military figure, supposedly based in Afghanistan's Helmand province but you could easily mistake it for USMC Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz from the movie "World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles", a 2011 military science fiction war film directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and starring Aaron Eckhart as USMC Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz, along with Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Peña, Ne-Yo, Ramon Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan. The film is set in modern day Los Angeles and follows a platoon of U.S. Marines during a global alien invasion, who are joined by an Airman and some Army infantry.

Having missed getting the first released Soldier Story USMC in Afghanistan: 1st Battalion 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade 12-inch figure - see PREVIEW pictures HERE (you can only have so many Marines), I tried kitbashing a 1/6 scale Aaron Eckhart as USMC Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz 12-inch figure (see my post HERE) but I think Soldier Story did a GREAT job here and I'm not going to let this one go again. In fact, I much prefer this later version.

This is a pretty good non-licensed 1/6 scale 12-inch Staff Sergent Nantz from Battle Los Angeles figure. The M16 is sweet too (there're too many M4s floating in the market already). The reason for placing the carry-handle forward when using an ACOG? Some soldiers do that to allow for easy carrying; it's just personal preference where they'll mount it. There are pictures of them mounted on the side rails.

Soldier Story's new 1/6 scale USMC 2nd Marine Expeditionary Battalion 12-inch military figure wears the desert MARPAT issued uniform, plus the LWH helmet with MARPAT camo cover. Scroll down for more pictures of this excellent figure.

Overall, a pretty well kitted out US Marine. Soldier Story is still up there in terms of quality and worksmanship compared to VeryHot so this will definitely make a very fine addition to the other 1/6 troops residing in Toy Haven :)

From what I gather, that vest is an MTV (Modular Tactical Vest) - a bulletproof vest adopted by the United States Marine Corps in 2006.

Set includes: T-Shirt, USMC MCCU Shirt & Pants, Belt, AN/PRC 343 Radio Pouch, USMC MTV Vest, Double Mag Pouch, Single Mag Pouch, 200-round Pouch, Triple 40mm Grenade Pouch x2, Single Frag Grenade Pouch x2, Dump Pouch, Utility Pouch, M127A Signal Flare Pouch x2, Hydrapak With Tube, Boots, Gun Sling, Gloves, Combat Application Tourniquet, LWH Helmet with MARPAT Cover, NVG Mount, PVS-14 NVG, Googles with Cover, AN/PRC 343 Radio With Headset, USMC Combat Knife, M16A4 + M203 Rifle, AN/PEQ 16 MIPIM, Grenade Launcher Leaf Sight, ACOG TA31 RCO 4x32 Scope with Doctor Red Dot, Filter, Carrying Handle, Rail Sling Mount Adapter, M4 Mag x6+1, 40mm Grenade (Metal And Plastic) x6, CQC M1911 Holster, CQC Pistol Mag Case x2, M1911 MEU Pistol, M1911 Pistol Mag x2+1, M67 Grenade x2, M127A Signal Flare (Metal) x2, Handcuffs x2, Climbing Buckle, Carabiner (Metal), S2 Body

1/6 scale Aaron Eckhart as SSgt. Michael Nantz headsculpt, most recently seen in "Battle: Los Angeles (2011)"

  10. I didn´t know about this figure!!!

I love that movie, though the head sculpt this figure presents is not very accurate, is it?.

Also the rifle he uses in the movie is not that one.

Maybe it is too late for me to get one, I will do some research anyway.

great review by the way Alex.
