Steve Rogers is a sickly young man who is enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. He is chosen as the first in a "super-soldier" experiment. There is no spoiler since all the official movie trailers pretty much show us how Steve Rogers gets transformed and become Captain America.
Since the Hot Toys 1/6 scale Captain America 12-inch figure has not been released (all we've seen are PREVIEW pictures), I guess this 9-inch tall version will have to do.
This is the 2007 Hasbro released "Spider-Man Origins Signature Series" 9-inch cloth-costumed Captain America action figure similar in vein to Toy Biz's "Famous Covers" line of the 90s.
This is the Captain America I've come to know growing up reading all the Marvel comics. For nearly all of the character's publication history, Captain America was the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a sickly young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with an indestructible shield that can be thrown as a weapon.
Captain America uses several shields throughout his history, the most prevalent of which is a nigh-indestructible disc-shaped shield made from an experimental alloy of steel and the fictional vibranium. This alloy was created by accident and never duplicated, although efforts to reverse-engineer it resulted in the discovery of adamantium.
Hasbro's "Spider-Man Origins Signature Series" 9-inch Captain America action figure is WAY WAY BETTER than Toy Biz's version. IMHO This figure is almost perfect in representing Steve Rogers as Captain America, from his head sculpt, to his costume and shield. He has a far less exaggerated physique than his Toy Biz counterpart.
Well, that's it then :) It's off to the movies for "Captain America: The First Avenger"
i like this one a lot- yes the physique was much more natural with the Hasbro figures, though i do really love my Famous Covers toys
