Y is also for Yamato i.e. Space Battleship Yamato

The Americans have their Star Trek Enterprise and Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer. The British has their Space 1999 Eagle transporters. The Japanese also have their own - Space Battleship Yamato!

Space Battleship Yamato (宇宙戦艦ヤマト, Uchū Senkan Yamato) is a Japanese science fiction anime series featuring an eponymous spacecraft. It is also known to English-speaking audiences as Space Cruiser Yamato; an English-dubbed and heavily edited version of the series was broadcast on North American and Australian television as Star Blazers. Set in the year 2199, an alien race known as the "Gamilas" ("Gamilons" in the English Star Blazers dub) unleash radioactive meteorite bombs on Earth, rendering the planet's surface uninhabitable. Humanity has retreated into deep underground cities, but the radioactivity is slowly affecting them as well, with mankind's extinction estimated in one year.

The inhabitants of Earth secretly build a massive spaceship inside the ruins of the Japanese battleship Yamato, the Space Battleship Yamato for which the story is titled. Using blueprints given by Queen Starsha of the planet Iscandar, they equip the new ship with a space warp drive, called the "wave motion engine", and a new, incredibly powerful weapon at the bow called the "Pulse Cannon" ("Wave Motion Gun").

This is the Nomura 1/1300 Die-cast Space Battleship Yamato (October 1978) which is over 20cm long and comes with 3 Cosmo Tiger Space Fighters.

Next to the Nomura 1/1300 Die-cast Space Battleship Yamato is the Bandai Space Battleship Yamato Mechanic File Set

The Bandai Space Battleship Yamato Mechanic File Set is made up of eight different sections that come separately in individual boxes and measures approximately 36cm long when put together as a complete ship. Most impressive are the highly detailed parts and cross-sectional views offered with this amazing toy model.

There's also the Bandai Soul of Popynica Star Blazers / Space Battleship Yamato which measures approximately 420mm in length and comes with movements (Lazer Bazooka can rotate around), Sounds (Engine Sounds, Bazooka Sounds, Horns) and Lights (Back Fire, Bazooka, Warning Lights etc.) I want ONE!

A live action film adaptation of the original 1974 Space Battleship Yamato anime TV series titled "Space Battleship Yamato" debuted at number 1 on the Japanese box-office when it opened on December 1, 2010, ousting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1). Zac Bertschy of the Anime News Network rated the film a B, calling it "a thoroughly modernized adaptation, one that hits the gas pedal right out of the gate and doesn't stop for a moment, unashamed to just try and entertain the hell out of you."
