This is the Playmobil 4804 set consisting of a Giant Crab with Ghost Pirate. The Playmobil giant crab comes with functional pincers / adjustable claws. And the Ghost Pirate glows in the dark. The Playmobil Giant Crab has ridges on its back to allow the Ghost Pirate to ride on it.
True crabs are decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura, which typically have a very short projecting "tail", or where the reduced abdomen is entirely hidden under the thorax. Many other animals with similar names – such as hermit crabs, king crabs, porcelain crabs, horseshoe crabs and crab lice – are not true crabs.

Crabs are 10-legged animals that walk sideways. There are almost 5,000 different species of crabs; about 4,500 are true crabs, plus about 500 are hermit crabs (hermit crabs don't have a very hard shell and use other animals' old shells for protection). Most crabs live in the oceans, but many, like the robber crab, live on land.
The biggest crab is the Japanese Spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi), which lives on the floor of the north Pacific Ocean; it has a 12 ft (3.7 m) leg span. The biggest land crab is the Coconut crab (Birgus latro), which lives on islands in the Pacific Ocean; it has a leg span up to 2.5 ft (75 cm). So this isn't really a giant crab if you compare it with the largest crabs in the world.
Crabs are invertebrates, animals without a backbone. They have an exoskeleton (also called a carapace), an outer shell that both protects them from predators and provides support. These crustaceans have ten jointed legs, two of which have large, grasping claws (called pincers or chelipeds). They have a flattened body, two feelers (antennae), and two eyes located at the ends of stalks.
Crabs are mostly active animals with complex behaviour patterns. They can communicate by drumming or waving their pincers. Crabs tend to be aggressive towards one another and males often fight to gain access to females.
The Ghost Pirate comes with a flintlock pistol and axe.
Introduced at the beginning of the 17th century, the flintlock rapidly replaced earlier firearm-ignition technologies, such as the doglock, matchlock and wheellock mechanisms. It continued to be in common use for over two centuries, replaced by percussion cap and, later, cartridge-based systems in the early-to-mid 19th century.
With the immense success of "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series starring the brilliant Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, pirates are making a comeback in all shapes, sizes and forms. In "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" which was released in 2003, the crew of the Black Pearl, captained by Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) were all cursed and can be described as being Ghost Pirates.

I always enjoy your occasional digressions into these kinds of "educational" posts. I'm willing to bet that this is probably the longest piece ever written on crabs AND Playmobil in the history of the internet.
