Review 2: BBICN ThreeA Popbot exclusive: Pathfinder Ono Tomorrow Kings Oyabun

Having already seen the box packaging and the 12-inch figure as it looks straight out of the box in the previous post HERE, these are pictures I took of the BBICN ThreeA Popbot exclusive: 1/6 scale Pathfinder Oya (Oyabun) TK (Tomorrow Kings) Ono 12-inch figure.

In this post, I chose to pose the 3A Pathfinder Ono figure without his hooded camouflaged jacket so that it would not obstruct his movement. The hooded jacket would have also blocked the figure from view. Here are pictures I took of Pathfinder Oya TK Ono drawing his sword / katana

Because there aren't any cumbersome clothing to restrict his movement, you can get some nice poses out of this 12-inch figure :) Skin-tight rubber outfits look mighty fine but totally restricts movement, as in the case of Hot Toys 1/6 scale Black Widow 12-inch female action figure from the Iron Man 2 movie.

In the previous post, I removed the multiple pouches to show the T-shirt and 3/4 pants that come with this BBICN ThreeA Popbot exclusive: 1/6 scale Pathfinder Oya (Oyabun) TK (Tomorrow Kings) Ono 12-inch figure. In this post, everything except the hooded jacket is put back on to show off the almost complete figure that is produced by 3A.

According to threeA wiki: Tomorrow Kings are male clones, from the Popbot Universe who were created by Luthor Bean Jr. originally used for corporate takeovers. These "Elvis ronin" were created to slay all monsters & ghouls with Luthor Bean Sr.'s Ion Engine that escaped Earth. They are also used to fight the Mortis.

Tomorrow Kings Oyabuns are a more agile and skilled type of Tomorrow Kings. In the Popbot books, they have only been mentioned once, but the figures have seen great demand. They are most distinct because they sport a large puffed coat and two katanas.

The world of Popbot and all its characters including Tomorrow Kings were created by award winning illustrator Ashley Wood. In 2008, Ashley Wood and ThreeZero's founder Kim created threeA, a Hong Kong based production house for designing, developing and manufacturing toys, posters, prints and clothing based on characters created by Ashley Wood.

The Oyabuns also come with a Lasstranaut t-shirt and BBICN ThreeA Popbot Exclusive Pathfinder Ono is no different.

Path•find•er is defined as "A person who goes ahead and discovers or shows others a path or way." Also "One that discovers a new course or way, especially through or into unexplored regions."

After drawing both his swords / katanas, Pathfinder Ono makes a dramatic leap to gain an aerial advantage over his opponents. Do note that the transparent display stand that helps in achieving this pose does not come with the figure. The clear figure display stand came with Medicom 12-inch figures and I opted to use it here to enhance the look further ;)

If “the clothes make the man”, then the accessories make the clothes. Or at least, they help turn them into a proper outfit. In a world without pockets, the pouch was the pockets, purse and “fanny-pack”.

Pathfinder Ono comes with quite a few pouches / bags (three of those regular military issue bags with double buckles / clips and two ammo-type pouches plus two wooden sheaths for his swords.

I've seen some other 3A Tomorrow Kings figures that come with the rather large kidney pouches that the UK soldiers used to carry. Personally I didn't fancy those because they appear too big on the figure and don't look as cool.

Everything in Popbot seems to happen in a post-apocalyptic world. Post-apocalyptic stories often take place in an agrarian, non-technological future world, or a world where only scattered elements of technology remain. There is a considerable degree of blurring between this form of science fiction and that which deals with false utopias or dystopic societies.

And it seems that this post-apocalyptic world is survived by Asians, as is obvious with the 1/6 head sculpt of this BBICN ThreeA Popbot Pathfinder Ono 12-inch figure.

This may not be a Hot Toys Movie Collectible 12-inch figure but I really had a lot of fun with it and there are MORE posts to follow of this BBICN ThreeA Popbot exclusive Pathfinder Oya TK Ono 1:6 scale figure. What can I say? I'm lovin' it ;p
