Here's the third part review of the stunning figure that is Kaustic Plastik's 1/6 scale "Celadus" Thraex Roman gladiator 12-inch figure. Having looked at the box packaging HERE, the newly developed 12-inch figure HERE and the ultra detailed die-cast helmet and armored greaves HERE, now's the time to show you pictures of how all the parts come together to make the whole: a complete Thraex Roman gladiator 12-inch figure! Verdict: It is EXCELLENT!
Even with the 1/6 scale die-cast metal Thraex Gladiator helmet and die-cast armored greaves, the newly developed Kaustic Plastik 12-inch Realistik Muscle Body stands steady and upright without any problem, able to take the full weight of the die-cast metal armor parts without falling over :)
Scroll down to see the fully equipped Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale "Celadus" Thraex 12-inch gladiator figure as he would have looked in Pompeii, Italy, circa 79 A.D.
The Thraex (pl. thraeces), or Thracian, was a type of Roman gladiator, armed in the Thracian style with small rectangular shield called a parmula (about 60 x 65 cm) and a very short sword with a slightly curved blade called a sica (like a small version of the Dacian falx), intended to maim an opponent's unarmoured back.
His other armour included armoured greaves (necessitated by the smallness of the shield), a protector for his sword arm and shoulder, a protective belt above a loin cloth, and a helmet with a side plume, visor and high crest.
The creature on the crest of the Thracian is a GRIFFON. The Griffon was the symbol used in all the Thracian helmets. Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale Thraex Gladiator Helmet that is made of die-cast bronze metal.
This Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Thraex "Celadus" Roman gladiator comes with newly developed muscular "Realistik Body" KP01A, "life-like" head sculpture with "state of art" paint (The Thraex's head sculpt was inspired by UFC Fighting Champion Randy Couture which you can see HERE), Thraex Gladiator Helmet based on Pompeii (Italy) original model (Die-cast Metal), Armoured leg protections "Ocrae" based on Pompeii original model (Die-cast Metal), Thraex curved Sword "Sica" (Die-cast Metal blade), Fabric Cushion gaiter and shoulder armor pad, Leather-like Arm guard "manica" and belt, and Thraex Shield "Parmula" (plastic).
This Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale "Celadus" Thraex Roman gladiator 12-inch figure is AWESOME to say the least and although I try to show how good it is and how GREAT it looks, nothing beats having one in your own hands to marvel at the design and eventual production which is on par with some of the best in the market today :)

The close attention to details and desire of the producers to be as authentic as possible to the actual original parts found in Pompeii makes this figure an almost exact replica of the roman era gladiator. It is stunningly good and can most easily pass off as a museum piece for its historical significance.
Without any doubt, this has to be one of the BEST 1/6 scale roman gladiator 12-inch figures we have seen in a while and what's even better is that there's MORE to come from Kaustic Plastik!

ReplyDeleteI made a mistake....I picked up the other Gladiator from ACI Toys, he's going to get the picture treatment as soon as there is a break in the weather! I do want this one as well though. *wink wink*
ReplyDeleteThe other one is just as good :) I'll be posting pictures as well. Mine's all indoor shots though, no appropriate terrain in an urban jungle LOL
