This is the exclusive action figure of the early Batman that came with the "The Batman Masterpiece Edition: The Caped Crusader's Golden Age" classic boxed set from the year 200. I really like the 9-inch tall "First Appearance" Batman action figure with his cloth costume / outfit, wire-frame cape that's pose-able and batarang. This figure was based on the first appearance of Batman in 1939. Note the historically accurate purple gloves. Batman has come a long way since then.
"The Batman Masterpiece Edition: The Caped Crusader's Golden Age" classic boxed set from the year 2000 captured the golden age of the Caped Crusader with an exclusive action figure of the early Batman (complete with utility belt, wire-framed cape, and a Batarang); the first-ever facsimile reprint of the first Batman comic book (Not his first appearance, which was Detective Comics #27, which the figure is based upon); and a lavishly illustrated, full-color hardcover book by best-selling author Les Daniels detailing Batman's early years.

While Kotobukiya's First Appearance Batman by Bob Kane Limited Edition ARTFX+ Statue is nothing but a stiff statue which just stands there with scalloped cape draped over his shoulders, this Batman Masterpiece Edition: Golden Age Caped Crusader "First Appearance" Batman exclusive 9-inch action figure is fully pose-able and shows off his costume with better effect. He also can perform the cape draped over shoulders look with ease and also spread his cape out like the wings of a bat (see the pictures posted below). Reasons why I much prefer costumed and articulated action figures over statues any time.
Although comic book artist Bob Kane has always been credited with the creation of Batman, writer Bill Finger played a large part on how Batman looked because it was Finger who suggested that Bob Kane make him look more like a bat and put a hood on him, and take the eyeballs out and just put slits for eyes to make him look more mysterious.
Chronicle Books produced a series of Masterpiece Edition sets that included a hardcover book and exclusive figures / statues of the character being featured. Besides The Batman Masterpiece Edition, there were also Superman Masterpiece Edition and Wonder Woman Masterpiece Edition. Not only that, Chronicle Books also released three Star Wars Masterpiece Editions: Anakin Skywalker – The Story of Darth Vader came with a 14-inch Anakin Skywalker action figure as he appeared at the end of Return of the Jedi, when his spirit form stood alongside fellow departed Jedi masters Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda (see post HERE). Star Wars Masterpiece Edition: Tales of the Golden Droid came with fully articulated 12-inch C-3PO that features a realistic silver leg and blaster residue, and comes complete with detachable limbs recalling his close call in The Empire Strikes Back and a replica of the net Chewbacca used to collect his scattered parts (see pictures HERE). Star Wars Masterpiece Edition: Dawn of the Bounty Hunters came with an exclusive figure of Aurra Sing (see figure HERE). There were also the G.I. Joe: Masterpiece Edition action-figure-and-book set packaged by Chronicle Books, Masterpiece Edition G.I. Joe Astronaut Book & Figure set.
