This is the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Deathstroke 10-inch (25.5 cm) tall figure. This is the Deathstroke who appears in Batman: Arkham Origins video game, voiced by Mark Rolston. He is among the eight assassins hired to kill Batman by the Joker.

Deathstroke the Terminator (also known by his name Slade Wilson, originally called simply the Terminator) is a comic book supervillain, and sometimes antihero, who appears in books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans (vol. 1) #2 (1980).

I remember Deathstroke from my much younger days when I followed the adventures of the Teen Titans in the DC comic books. George Perez's art was a treat! Deathstroke re-emerged recently on The CW's Arrow television series and in the series, Slade (played by Manu Bennett) is of Australian descent and a former ASIS agent. Slade would feature strongly in Seasons 1 and 2.

Being an assassin, Slade would be able to identify somewhat with the figure I posted previously in my toy blog - The Winter Soldier (see my reviews and pictures HERE and HERE). I doubt there'll be a 12-inch Deathstroke figure anytime soon so this 10-inch Slade Wilson should suffice for now. Plus he makes a very nice companion to Play Arts Kai Square Enix "Batman: Arkham Origins" Batman 10.5-inch action figure (recently posted HERE and HERE)

I wasn't a fan of Square Enix Play Arts Kai action figures until this year. I liked the look of Deathstroke in the preview pictures (posted HERE) and they were enough to make me pre-order this even though I had never picked up any figure before. I've seen Play Arts action figures at the retail shops and the head sculpts always threw me off because they were usually too anime / manga looking for my liking. This Deathstroke figure, and the Arkham Origins Batman, looked really good.

Everything is in the top tray: the figure, the weapons. There's a figure display stand at the bottom. You can see what the figure stand looks like HERE. The inner flap reads: "Deathstroke is a mercenary rumored to have contributed to the assassinations of dictators and other prominent people."

Weapons and accessories include: a rifle, a pistol, staff and sword plus additional hands

Deathstroke's distinguishing characteristics include an impaired right eye, graying hair, and orange accented black body armor. His unique mask reveals only his left eye, and the ninja look are trademarks that make Deathstroke instantly recognizable. Formerly having served in the military as an accomplished member of the special forces, he was subject to a covert experiment from which he gained superhuman healing power and physical capabilities after being subjected to extensive mental and physical augmentation. The procedures left him with increased mental function, as well as enhanced speed, strength, and stamina.

Following his military service, Wilson worked for various private military contractors before striking out on his own – and allegedly becoming one of the highest paid contract killers in the world, specializing in high profile assassinations.

Highly skilled in explosives, close-range combat, high level ambush strategies and all weaponry, Deathstroke proves to be a deadly and formidable foe that challenges Batman like no other before.

His unique weapons and abilities include regenerating health and super strength, a rifle-staff with a built-in grapple, a sword, explosives, and firearms.

Deathstroke carries his sword in a sheath on his back. He looks pretty equipped to fight a small war.

Close-up pictures of Square Enix Play Arts Kai Batman: Arkham Origins Deathstroke 10-inch (25.5 cm) action figure. I like the overall design of Deathstroke's outfit / costume with all the pouches and gadgets he carries on him. He would certainly make a formidable opponent to Batman.

  1. Oh Snap! Looks like I'm getting myself an early Christmas present. I told you this before, Alex, but your photos do a better job of selling these companies products than they do.

  2. Thanks for the compliments, Bill :) I like the size / scale of these Play Arts Kai action figures as they are much bigger than the 3.75-inch and 6-inch figures. Because of the size, more details can be added. They are not 12-inch but until one does surface, these should do nicely. Cheers

  3. Rad! I also wasn't initially sold on these Play Arts Kai either, but have recently ordered a couple Batman figures- seeing these photos cements my belief I made the right choice. The unusual scale doesn't bother me too much because of their unique aesthetic- they really stand out!

  4. Great to hear you are in with these as well, Colin :) I've already got three Play Arts Kai action figures with Hawkman on pre-order. FUN times!

  5. That's a pretty awesome Deathstroke action figure by Play Arts Kai. The only thing I want Play Arts to fix is the size and scale issue between each of their figures. I don't know why they can't have everything on a 1/6 Scale like Hot Toys!

  6. I think these are meant to be 1/7 scale. I still prefer 1/6 figures with their fabric outfits and removable accessories but sometimes the price can be a major factor so these are nice alternatives. Plus variety is the spice of life, right?
