Smith Baker, a county sheriff from Philadelphia who has been through a major accident, was saved by a cyborg surgery. He was very fortunate to survive because of the technology, but that also became the nightmare of his life. Through a rescue operation requested by his best friend, he will eventually find a door to salvation for himself.
The Ax2: 1/6th scale BOOM! #3 - Smith Baker 12-inch action figure seems to come from a future similar to that seen in "Blade Runner", a 1982 American neo-noir dystopian science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. It was a modified film adaptation of the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick.
I also see Jude Law in the 2001 American science fiction film "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" written, directed, and produced by Steven Spielberg, and based on Brian Aldiss's short story Super-Toys Last All Summer Long. Except in "A.I.", Jude Law was Gigolo Joe, a male prostitute Mecha programmed with the ability to mimic love.
This will be Ax2's second 'mass' produced figure (limited to 400 pcs) from the BOOM! series after #2 Rei 12-inch figure (reviewed on my toy blog HERE, HERE and HERE). While Rei appeared to be from a post-apocalyptic future, Smith Baker seems to come from a dystopian one.

It actually looks pretty good to me!
ReplyDeleteMaybe slightly overdone 'Sheriff' motif, with all the stars and the "County Sheriff" on the back, but I like it. I liked the look of their TK knock off as well.
Alex as usual doing a good job to introduce me to figures I don't normally think I need!
Pleasure's all mine, Kaido haha. Just helping to spread the poison... no, I meant passion LOL
