Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant 1/7th scale Batman figure by Tetsuya Nomura

Pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles

Tetsuya Nomura is a Japanese video game artist, designer and director working for Square Enix. He designed characters for the Final Fantasy series, debuting with Final Fantasy V and continuing with various later installments. He received the "Excellence in Visual Arts" award by the International Game Developers Association for his work on the first Kingdom Hearts game, alongside Shinji Hashimoto. (source: wiki)

This is Tetsuya Nomura's version of Batman. This re-imagined version of Batman looks more demon than bat, more final fantasy than comic book and more manga / anime than he has ever been. The very long and large ears does remind one of Zoltar, the main villain of the series "Battle of the Planets", an American loose adaptation of the Japanese "Gatchaman".

Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant 1/7th scale Batman figure by Tetsuya Nomura looks very heavily armored and instead of a cape, he has wings like a bat's, with extra arms that fold when the wings are retracted and extend when the wings are open. It's definitely something that I can see coming out of an anime but not very DC; more of a Japanese type of thing than a Western influence. With his wings, this re-imagined Batman obviously has no need for a Batmobile, Bat-plane or Bat-pod because any one of his vehicles / transport would have to be massive to accommodate his wings.
