continued from previous toy blog post...
Everybody's getting in on the action!
These are Mattel Barbie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1:6 scale Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman dolls that have been revealed and I can clearly see the difference in terms between "dolls" and "action figures". Dolls are traditionally seen as a girl's toy, although they are also collected by adults (usually of the fairer sex and then some). Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959.
Definition of Action Figure from Wikipedia - Ac•tion Fig•ure: An action figure is a pose-able character figurine, made of plastic or other materials, and often based upon characters from a movie, comic book, video game, or television program. These action figures are usually marketed towards boys and male collectors. The term "action figure" was first coined by Hasbro in 1964, to market their G.I. Joe figure to boys who wouldn't play with dolls.
Let me state again here that "I collect Action Figures!" So don't call them dolls because it's a rather sensitive topic LOL You can check out my earlier toy blog post HERE where I posted quite a number of pictures of my action figure collection (and some dolls haha) :p
It's most interesting that most action figure companies choose to only show pictures of their Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman figures from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" whereas a doll manufacturer / company shows off all three figures, starting with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. So far this is the only 1:6 scale Wonder Woman figure from the upcoming film that we've seen.

Awesome post! I love action figures but I don't collect them because of price and often have to admire them from other collector's posts. I am a Barbie collector and was super excited about the Batman vs Superman collection...particularly because it's a Barbie product. So, I just knew we'd have handsome action/Ken's with rooted hair. I'm super disappointed in what was produced. The figures do not come with extra hands, so they're stuck with fists or black hands and that plastic hair...ugh. The good thing is...I save money but I'm slightly bummed. Oh well...maybe next movie, Mattel will do a little more.
ReplyDeleteI'd wait for some in hand pics to decide, but WW comes with the new articulated body, which is tempting. And the likeness is not bad for Batman(this is the only unmasked Batman revealed so far too) & Superman, the eyes are their weak point.
ReplyDeletepanienka WW to moje lalkowe marzenie :)))
