October Haul: 2000 AD x ThreeA 1/6th scale Judge Dredd & Marvel Legends Captain Britain

It's a British invasion! I got the 2000 AD x ThreeA 1/6th scale Judge Dredd 12-inch Collectible Figure and Hasbro 2016 released Marvel Legends Captain Britain action figure. One was a rather long wait and the other was just an impulse buy for the fun of it :)

2000 AD is a weekly British science fiction-orientated comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue and was first published by IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February. 2000 AD is most noted for its Judge Dredd stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon.

In the dystopian post-apocalyptic future of the 22nd century, crime runs rampant in Mega-City One. Here the people are policed by the Judges, elite cops prepared to do whatever it takes to keep the peace, even if it means sentencing criminals to death on the spot. And the most feared of all the Judges is Judge Dredd.

2000 AD x ThreeA 1/6th Scale JUDGE DREDD Collectible Figure Stands 12.3-Inches (31.2 cm) tall and Features 29 Points of Articulation. Judge Dredd includes: 2x Interchangeable Faces - Standard Scowl and Gritted Teeth Expressions, 4 Sets of interchangeable hands, 1x Lawgiver Mk1 features removable ammo magazine, 1x Lawgiver Mk2 features removable ammo magazine, 1x Lawrod features removable ammo magazine and shoulder stock, 1x Daystick.

I quite like the 2000 AD x ThreeA 1/6th Scale JUDGE DREDD Collectible Figure box design, very faithful to the comic magazine with drawings of Dredd splashed on the front and back. There's also an extra band that keeps the box closed. The black band has the words JUDGE DREDD in red on the front and Justice Dept on the back. It also has line drawings of the weapons included under the header ARMORY.

The box contents are all laid out in one tray. No figure stand is included because it isn't needed. I usually don't like to use the figure stands when displaying my figures as they take away the realism of the figure unless the figure requires a stand because it just cannot stand on its own. Case-in-point: the Hot Toys MMS352 Terminator Genisys 1/6th scale Endoskeleton 33 cm tall Collectible Figure reviewed earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE.

Close-up of ThreeA 1/6th scale 2000 AD Judge Dredd, the only true comic version now realised in three-D. There have been others, namely the movie versions so this is the FIRST comic realization 12-inch Judge Dredd figure.

Captain Britain (Brian Braddock) was initially intended exclusively for the British comics market. Endowed with extraordinary powers by the legendary magician Merlyn and his daughter Roma, Captain Britain is assigned to uphold the laws of Britain. He first appeared in Captain Britain Weekly #1 (October 1976), the beginning of a serial best-remembered for runs by writer Chris Claremont, artist Alan Davis, and writer Alan Moore.

This is the Hasbro 2016 released Marvel Legends Captain Britain action figure. The last time Captain Britain appeared as an action figure was in a Walmart exclusive wave by Toybiz over a decade ago. This is the first 6-inch tall Captain Britain and he's wearing the modern Captain Britain costume from New Excalibur. I like the bulkiness of this figure because it's how Captain Britain looks like - big and beefy!
