More Ultraman Monsters (Kaiju)

Some more Ultraman Monsters from the Sound Battler Series released by Bandai. These are the ones without a tail and are more humanoid. From left to right: Zetton (ゼットン) or sometimes spelt "Z-ton", Baltan, Powered Baltan or Alien Baltan (バルタン星人 Barutan Seijin - which is an oxymoron since Baltan is already an alien), Zamu and Powered Zetton or Alien Z-ton (ゼットン星人 Zetton Seijin).

Baltan Kaiju is probably one of the first monsters Ultraman battled with and looks very much like a crustacean (prawn)

That's not piles (haemorrhoids) on its backside but the speaker from which the battle sounds are projected outwards when interacting with Ultraman Sound Battler.

Ultraman versus Baltan

Ultraman's most recognizable weapon - Specium Ray (スペシウム光線 Supeshiumu Kōsen) is executed when Ultraman crouches slightly forward and crosses his wrists together, with his right forearm vertical and left forearm horizontal in front of it, and the thumb edge of his hands facing his body, to shoot from the outer edge of his right hand a particle/light-ray that kills most opponents. The effect is either an explosion or a fatal burn. The Specium Ray is perhaps Ultraman's most powerful single weapon and few creatures are immune to it.

Zetton (ゼットン) or Z-ton

Ultraman and the monsters he fought would tower over everyone else as Ultraman is 40 metres tall and weighs 35,000 tons while the monsters he fought sometimes weighed a lot more than him. In all the shows, scale cities and landscapes were put in for the battle scenes and this required economy of movement and meticulous planning to prevent excess damage to the props. Initially, simple wrestling moves were used but this evolved into more complex fighting in later episodes.

Powered Baltan or Alien Baltan (バルタン星人 Barutan Seijin) - still very prawn-like. In our local context, there's a saying,"Bo her, hey arh hoh" translated literally "No fish, prawn also can" i.e. to make the best of a situation.

  1. Are they in scale with that ultraman?
