Sideshow Collectibles G.I. Joe Dusty 12-inch Figure Preview

This desert specialist of the Joe team is the newest member of Sideshow Collectibles’ G.I. Joe 12-inch Figure line. He'll be reporting for duty next year 2011. The line is certainly expanding and growing pretty fast Hoo-Ah! ("Heard, understood and acknowledged")

The Sideshow Collectibles Dusty 12-inch Figure features: Pro Body 1.2 with over 30+ points of articulation, Dusty portrait, Detailed desert combat uniform, Y-Harness, MOLLE belt, Riggers belt, Tactical Drop Leg Holster, First aid pouch, Helmet with Cover and Havelock, Goggles, Dog tags, .45 cal 1911 Pistol, Five (5) .45 cal Pistol Magazines, Three (3) Frag Grenades, Vertical Foregrip, Red smoke grenade, Yellow smoke grenade, Two (2) canteens, Canteen pouch, FAMAS Rifle with bipod plus scope & silencer, Five (5) Magpul(tm) P-MAG Magazines, Rifle sling, Triple Aught Design FAST Backpack, Knee pads, LMF Combat Knife with sheath, Generous assortment of switch-out hands, Two (2) pairs switch-out boots, standing and action, Shoulder Patches and Name-tape, XMLR-3A Laser Rifle

From the PASGT / MICH helmet with back flaps (proper name - Havelock, named after General Sir Henry Havelock, is a light covering for the head and neck, worn as a protection against sunstroke) to the French FAMAS rifle, Dusty seems pretty authentic. Always wonder why a true blue American soldier would be carrying a French-made weapon? He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, grew up in the desert and became intimately familiar with it. He then worked as a refrigeration repairman while studying the ecology of the desert and finally went through basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. Anybody got answers?

The Exclusive Dusty 12-inch Figure will include an AC58 Anti-Armor Rifle Grenade accessory.

  1. Man, the exclusive has sold out.. I was lucky enough to get one.. I hope I won't wait too long.. BTW.. At 1st.. I thought that the AC58 Anti-Armor Rifle Grenade was some kind of joke.. But it really does exist.. And it is even used with the FAMAS.. Now, about the question.. After playing Call of Duty.. I think it's a pretty effective rifle.. I love using it than the usual M4s, AKs and CARs.. It's accurate and less recoil.. Anyway.. It's just my opinion.. I also thought that most elite forces use whatever equipment that they feel right for their mission..

  2. Hi Marq, glad you got the exclusive. Sideshow did say that this is slated for 2nd Qtr 2011 (that's April - June period). I just felt that if the FAMAS was just as reliable and less prone to jamming or problems in the field, the Special Forces would be using it more; instead it seems to be exclusive to the French forces.

Also, although elite forces get to pick and choose their choice of weapon, I think they still have to decide as a group so that they can support each other with the same type of ammo instead of having to carry so many different loads.

    just my two cents ;P

BTW, I believe the fake weapon is the XMLR-3A Laser Rifle

  3. Hello Alex..
Yup.. Weapon assignments should be done.. And yes.. The XMLR-3A Laser Rifle is based on the cartoon.. I really don't like this weapon.. It's a waste of plastic.. They should have converted/replaced it to/with a gas mask (just like the POC Dusty 1:18 figure).. Plus.. A dropleg pouch..

I was just lucky that I never hesitated picking up the exclusive.. The preorders at sideshow placed both the exclusive and non-exclusive @ $129.99.. Thanks again.. And nice reviews..

  4. Hi Marq

Good to see we both agree that the XMLR-3A is a waste of plastic; would have much preferred other more interesting accessory since he already has his primary weapon (FAMAS) and sidearm.

Glad you snag the exclusive at no extra cost & thanks for the compliments
