Size Matters! Comparing Hot Toys War Machine with Iron Man Mk III

Here are some pictures taken of the recently released Hot Toys Masterpiece Series MMS120 "Iron Man 2" 1/6th scale War Machine Collectible Figure (reviewed earlier HERE) standing next to the Hot Toys 12-inch Iron Man Mark III figure (reviewed HERE in January 30, 2009 - yup! it has been that long)

Since the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark IV has yet to reach our shores (still being assembled in some factory in China perhaps), the Mark III will have to do for now for size comparison purposes. How does the War Machine look next to the Mark III and even Mark I version? Scroll down and see for yourself :)

Hot Toys War Machine besides being bulkier, is also taller than the Mark III which is pretty accurate since all that reverse engineering and added armor is bound to increase the overall mass of War Machine! Now that I've placed them side by side, the difference in size and height is telling and it is a good differentiation :) and I like it!

Now Hot Toys Iron Man Mark I joins in the fray and that makes THREE iron suits

The GREAT thing about the Mark I suit is that a 1:6 scale Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is actually under all that armor i.e. if you are actually crazy enough to dismantle the suit of armor, there's a 12-inch tall Tony Stark right under it; not so for the other Iron suits. They are basically an "armor" body (no figure underneath) with a 1/6 head plonked on, that's the difference.

Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III with light-up eyes, chest and palms!

AND the most recent Hot Toys "Iron Man 2" War Machine, all bulked up!

And here are the 1/6 scale men in suits from the "Iron Man" film

12-inch Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane, Tony Stark's 2nd-in-command but overcame with greed and a lust for power, he stole the plans for the Iron Man armor to create the Iron Monger armor. There were some sightings of a 1/6 scale Iron Monger figure but alas, that has not come to pass :( The company that was promoting this has completely gone quiet on this SIGH! me thinks it has to do with copyright and licensing issues.

And of course, one mustn't forget the man responsible for it all - Tony Stark (portrayed by the brilliant Robert Downey Jr.) - cocky, arrogant and so full of himself but hey! that's how Stark is, so true to character and so fun to watch :) This is the FIRST 1/6 scale Stark head sculpt that came with the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series Iron Man Mark III boxed set.

And here's a picture of all the men in suits, IRON and cloth (you know the drill :> click on the picture for a bigger and better view)

  3. Hi guys,

Does anyone have problems with the neck area for War Machine? When I was taking out the batteries, I discovered the rod for the ball joint on the neck of the body is misaligned, but apparently there were no white stress marks on either of the sides, I was thinking of adding some 4WD Tamiya oil over, any other suggestions to rectify the problem? I have taken pictures but I have no idea how to post them.

    Cheers!
    Edwin

  4. hi edwin, as this is a personal blog site and not a forum, i'm afraid there is no option to post photos, hence not very sure what your problem is. i'd removed the head also (see my blog entry post: http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2010/11/hot-toys-war-machine-collectible-figure.html) but didn't notice any misalignment as you mentioned.
