Hot Toys 1/6 Superman Collectible Figure PREVIEW

Amid high anticipation, Hot Toys is proud to present their Movie Masterpiece series MMS152 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure from the classic superhero movie "Superman" in 1978. The movie-accurate Superman collectible is specially crafted based on the image of Christopher Reeve in the movie, highlighting the authentic head sculpt, movie-accurate costume and detailed figure stand imitating the Fortress of Solitude.

Superman is always portrayed as a brave and kind-hearted hero with a strong sense of justice, morality and righteousness. He is an American cultural icon, a fictional personality and a movie character. But Christopher Reeve (the actor who played Superman / Clark Kent in the movie) was a true SUPERMAN and that is why this 12-inch collectible is long overdue! And this 1/6 scale version by Hot Toys far exceeds in quality compared to the 12-inch Mattel Superman they tried to sell us some months ago. I'm so glad I waited :)

The 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure specially features: Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Christopher Reeve as Superman in the Superman movie, Real-like facial expression with detailed wrinkles and gesture, Detailed hair sculpture, Stands approximately 30 cm tall with Newly sculpted muscular body that has over 30 points of articulation with extra forceful upper body as in neck and chest, Three (3) pairs of interchangeable palms including: One (1) pair of relaxed palms, One (1) pair of fists, and One (1) pair of palms for fighting. Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted

  3. Somehow, i feel that HT is going to have more versions of Superman-Reeve coming up. This version doesn't have Clark Kent. N is the first sculpt by new guy Arnie Kim, maybe juz a market try-out for him.

  4. Can someone enlighten me as to why this figure, which is considered 'bared' compare to other hot toys products, is almost as expensive as a DX figure? :p

  5. Yes, very expensive indeed!! May be HT knows there will be lots of preorder, no matter how expensive they offer, collectors are still paying to get it..

  6. I think this is the reason: "A portion of this collectible figure’s sales benefits will be donated to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation by Hot Toys Limited." actually we are all paying for it. that's why HT took so long to come up with this and originally it was supposed to be DX (note DX pricing) but now it's just MMS. You can bet this figure will be HOT and prices will skyrocket once it is released.

  7. I have the Mattel Superman- it's closer what I'm willing to spend on a figure. Although at 1/4 of the price of this one, there is definitely a reason! This one is a work of art! It will fit your amazing collection much better, Alex :)

  8. hmm, i don't know.. i think the sculpt is a bit off but not sure where. Maybe the face is a bit thin.

  10. This is an amazing figure and I quickly pre-ordered one already. I agree with many predictions that Hot Toys will probably make another figure and I am predicting the obvious, either a Clark Kent figure or an actual DX figure.

  11. Just pre ordered this @ £159 and that's a lot because let's face it this figure is good but very basic for the cash....
P.s. Alex I blame you and your site for my addiction. lol
    Many thanks Joneefubar ; )

  12. Sorry, im a newbie here. What is the difference between a DX and MMS?

    ReplyDelete
  13. For Hot Toys, MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series) is the usual priced figurine. DX (Deluxe) is more expensive, due to improved head sculpts, more accessories etc. By the way, AC pre-order price of Superman-Reeve is cheaper than TFH!

  14. Do you know if the cape is poseable? I can imagine so many awesome poses if it is...

  15. Hi Alex,
I'm sure you know this one:
do you what type of head/neck this piece uses?
I'm not expert, I can't tell from the "official" pics if this is a neck/head piece (like Joker bank robber) or something else.
    thanks

PD: the print is on its way. keep me posted

  16. Hi Marcos,
I believe the head will be the same as all the rest that hot Toys has been releasing i.e. ONLY the head without the neck, unlike what HeadPlay has been releasing. This is so that the neck and chest has no joint lines and makes the figure look more realistic. Also the head can then turn without having to move the neck as well, more real-like.

CHEERS & thanks for sending the print :) I'll let you know when I get it

  17. Regarding the cape, Hot Toys doesn't mention any hidden wire in the specifications and description of the product although it does look to be pose-able from the pictures.
