Hot Toys T-800 Terminator Figure (1984) REVIEW 1

The Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800 Terminator (T-800) was sent by Skynet in 2029 to Los Angeles in 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, the future mother of John Connor, the leader of the future human Resistance. It was the first Infiltrators sent back on assassination missions by Skynet, and is arguably the single most significant Terminator unit as it inadvertently "fathered" Skynet in its journey through time, much like how Kyle Reese fathered John Connor in his.

This is the recently released Hot Toys MMS136 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale T-800 12-inch Collectible Figure from "The Terminator" movie. "The Terminator" is a 1984 science fiction action film directed by James Cameron, co-written by Cameron and William Wisher Jr., and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Michael Biehn. It topped the American box office for two weeks and helped launch the film careers of James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The silver slipcase cover slides upwards to reveal a window box showing the tray with the figure and accessories inside. No twisty ties and everything is nicely laid out and easily taken out without any hassle or fuss.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? The head sculpt is top notch and the resemblance to Arnold Schwarzenegger is simply amazing. The likeness is all there and there's no mistaking the "Governator" (he has recently stepped down as California “Governator” after two terms in office) in his younger days.

The 1/6 scale weapons that are included with this Hot Toys MMS136 (Movie Masterpiece Series) T-800 12-inch Collectible Figure box set - an Ithaca 37 standard police model 12-gauge shotgun, an AMT Hardballer Longslide .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) with laserlock sight (with moving slide and removable magazine) and an IMI Uzi 9mm Carbine.

Other accessories: one medical pincer, one medical knife (scalpel) and four pairs of medical scissors

This is the Hot Toys 1/6 scale MMS136 (Movie Masterpiece Series) T-800 Terminator 12-inch Collectible Figure with authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator T-800 sans his dark gray colored jacket, wearing just the black colored patterned sleeveless T-shirt / vest, khaki colored pants and black colored boots with studs on left side. He has the relaxed gloved hands on him.

I took the jacket off to show the Hot Toys muscular body which is identical to the Hot Toys MMS117 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" 1/6th scale T800 collectible figure reviewed earlier HERE. Check out the link for topless pictures of Arnie ;p

Not including overdubbed lines where The Terminator speaks in the voice of others, Schwarzenegger only speaks 18 lines in the film. James Cameron noted that "Somehow, even his accent worked... It had a strange synthesized quality, like they hadn't gotten the voice thing quite worked out."

Arnold's catch phrase "I'll be back" was voted the 37th greatest movie quote by the AFI. [source: wiki]

And here's the Hot Toys 1984 T-800 Terminator 12-inch figure with alternate head (with damaged left eye) and damaged right forearm.

In the car chase that ensued after The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) almost killed Sarah Jeanette Connor (Linda Hamilton) in the "Tech Noir" nightclub (James Cameron coined the term) save for the intervention of Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), the Terminator was injured in a car crash, damaging its arm. The damage appeared to be confined to a single part that had become jammed in a fixed position, but the machine was able to re-adjust the part, putting it back into its original position without any further problems.

Kyle scored a lucky hit to the T-800's face, a shard piercing its left eye. The T-800 had to remove the gellatinous covering, but its optical receptor was undamaged. After removing the useless flesh eye and revealing its cybernetic eye, the Terminator wore sunglasses to hide its features.

  1. Again, it is a great HT figure, I got one, but it is not the final one, and not the best, the T800 II is still better. It is because I noticed, my opinion, few flaws: small boots, small pants with wrong collor, and the main mistake (ohhh God), the jacket is not close enough to the original showed in the movie, these parts could be much better. It looks HT was in a hurry to get some $$$ in the market. The body chest was improved, no doubdt. And, both heads are great. The tee is quite nice. The rest is forgetable.

  2. yeah, i also noticed lately that HT is becoming more commercialized and there have been quite a few cases of quality control issues with some collectors.
