Ethan Hunt, Impossible Missions Force (IMF)

This was one of Hot Toys Famous Type figure, before Hot Toys was HOT and everyone wanted a piece of whatever they were dishing out. This was an unlicensed figure but the resemblance was so obvious no guessing was required. This is Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt from the "Mission: Impossible" films (most likely "Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)" or M:i-2 because of the hair; he had a short crop for "Mission: Impossible" released in 1996). Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is an agent of an Impossible Missions Force (IMF) team, an unofficial branch of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) and implied to be a black operations division of the Agency.
Hence the famous line "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves (fill in the mission) and should any member of your team be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in five seconds." Cue theme music.

Looks better with the shades

In line with this series, there was also George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars and Keanu Reeves as Neo from "The Matrix (1999)". Next up: Tom Cruise as LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell from "Top Gun (1986)".

  2. quite perceptive aren't you? i didn't want to pay the full price for the figure coz i didn't feel that it was worth that much (Hot Toys not so HOT then) so i only bought the head sculpt. George Lucas and Neo are complete tho'.

  6. i saw the likeness right away, but maybe that's because i'm into movies. me thinks the likeness is better with the F-14 Tomcat aviator by Hot Toys

  8. i think he looks more like Tom Cruise if he has his shades on - the eyes not helping plus the face is a little too long. Looks more like him with the shades, even the box he came in had him with shades and you could tell right away from the box.
