Top Gun (1986)

In "Top Gun (1986)", Tom Cruise plays LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a young United States Navy F-14 Tomcat aviator aboard the USS Enterprise who is sent to the Navy's elite "TOPGUN" fighter-pilot school (US Navy Fighter Weapons School) at NAS Miramar in San Diego, California. This is the movie that propelled Tom Cruise to international stardom. With callsign names like "Goose" (Anthony Edwards who plays Tom Cruise's character "Maverick's" Radar Intercept Officer (RIO), "Iceman" (Val Kilmer), "Jester" (Michael Ironside) and "Viper" (Tom Skerritt), the Top Gun soundtrack and the amazing dogfight scenes, the movie took in $177,030,000 in the US alone for a worldwide box office total of $353,816,701.

Hot Toys released this F-14 Tomcat pilot figure (their very first pilot/movie figure) "Jack Carter" alongside F-18 Hornet Pilot (Will Smith as CPT Steven Hiller in the movie "Independence Day (1996) or ID4") "Alan J Nance" in 2000 (Hot Toys have come a long way since)

Looks like Tom Cruise (note the plastic shades - the 1/6 industry have seen much improvement over the years) except scale wise, he's taller than the actual person - ha! ha!

He wears flight suit, anti-g pants, LRV-9/P life preserver, SRU-21/P survival vest and kit, AN/PRC-90 radio, angle torchlight and aviator boots

"Jolly Rogers" patch - Fighter Squadron 84 (the Jolly Rogers) or VF-84 was a Fighter Squadron of the United States Navy flying the F-14 Tomcat from early 1976 and was based at NAS Oceana until its disestablishment on October 1, 1995 due to the downsizing of the Navy after the Cold War.
