Continuing from my earlier post on Toys City 1:6 scale SBS (Special Boat Service) 12-inch UK military figure, now we look at the fully kitted out figure with all his gear, accessories and weapons.
The Royal Navy's Special Boat Service (SBS) is the lesser-known sister unit of the British Army's Special Air Service (SAS) regiment. Whilst the unit specialises in water-borne activities, they are also highly skilled on dry land. Recent operations have taken place in the mountains of land-locked Afghanistan and deep in the deserts of Iraq. [source: special boat service]
Having switched the Toys City Sean Connery head for a much younger headsculpt as I felt that the SBS wouldn't have such an old operator in the field of operations, the fully kitted SBS wears a black skull cap with hands-free forehead mounted head light, LBT (London Bridge Trading) 1961G Chest Rig over his black smock (combat jacket) and Green T-shirt, Combat Field Pants (MARPAT desert camouflage) with Rescue Harness, knee pads, Black Diamond gaiters, and Hiking Boots.

SBS with headset connected to his radio kept secured in his radio pouch. Also comes with Union Jack patch worn on the left sleeve of his black hooded parka

In this picture, you can see where the SBS stores his radio on his chest rig as well as the pistol magazines.
Note the additional pouches added on the sides of the rig. These are for storing the HK417 magazines which are chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester) round. This is because the HK417 is intended for use as a designated marksman rifle, and in other roles where the greater penetrative power and range of the 7.62mm round are required.
The black drop-leg twin pouch is also used for keeping his additional HK417 magazines, a total of 5 rifle magazines are provided
The LBT 1961G Chest Rig is not designed to hold HK417 magazines so additional pouches are added. The drop-down holster stores his Para Ordnance P14-45 pistol (an improved version of the Colt M1911A1 .45 pistol) with tactical light and additional spare magazine as well.
The Hydration Pack I got wasn't very well produced and has a crushed look to it

The HK417 is similar in internal design to the HK416, but the receiver and working parts are enlarged to suit the larger 7.62mm round. The HK417 is designed more for use as a "designated marksman" rifle than an assault rifle, with its increased cost, accuracy, penetrative power and effective range weighed against decreased rate of fire and magazine capacity (although fully automatic fire is selectable). The Toys City 1:6 version also comes with sound suppressor attachment.
There's also the 1X4 tactical scope for sniping purposes. The personal GPS tracker is attached to the butt of the HK417.
The world is full with Seals, Marines, Rangers etc.
ReplyDeleteI think this is one of the coolest figures ever,
different than others!
