The Dark Knight Rises movie is coming in just two weeks and it shall be the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Celebrating the launch of this highly expected The Dark Knight Rises movie, Hot Toys is proud to present the most movie-accurate 1/6th scale DX Batman / Bruce Wayne Collectible Figure from this movie.
The Batman / Bruce Wayne collectible is newly developed and highly detailed, specially crafted based on the image of Christian Bale as the iconic character Batman / Bruce Wayne, highlighting the movie-accurate head sculpt, Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) on Batman’s head, specially made fabric costume with armor based on the costume design in the movie, weapons and accessories.
The costume isn't new. Hot Toys MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series - Deluxe) DX02 "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Batman 12-inch collectible figure already featured this costume in 2010 (see my REVIEW). The technology for making it in 1/6th scale probably has improved since then so this latest DX12 should be better than the older version. No oil leakages please!
This is the THIRD 1/6th scale Dark Knight Batsuit that Hot Toys has done. Check out my earlier post HERE for comparison pictures of the MMS Dark Knight vs the DX02 Dark Knight.
The Hot Toys DX12 The Dark Knight Rises 1/6th scale Batman / Bruce Wayne 12-inch Collectible Figure specially features: Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Batman / Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises movie with Two (2) interchangeable heads including: One (1) Batman head with patented Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) and three (3) interchangeable lower part of faces capturing his classic facial expressions AND One (1) newly developed head sculpt of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the movie with accurate facial expression, detailed wrinkles and skin texture. Figure is approximately 32 cm tall. 12-inch Batman body has 32 points of articulation. Three (3) pairs of interchangeable gloved palms including: One (1) pair of fists, One (1) pair of relaxed palms, One (1) left open palm, One (1) right palm for holding batarang
What's new in the third film is Batman's latest gadget, the EMP gun. EMP being the acronym for ElectroMagnetic Pulse. The abrupt pulse of electromagnetic radiation usually results from certain types of high energy explosions, especially a nuclear explosion, or from a suddenly fluctuating magnetic field. The resulting rapidly-changing electric fields and magnetic fields may couple with electrical/electronic systems to produce damaging current and voltage surges.
Weapons: One (1) grapnel gun, One (1) transformable sticky bomb gun, One (1) light-up electronic gun, Two (2) batarangs, Two (2) mini mines
Costume: One (1) newly developed complex Batsuit featuring fabric costume covered with armor, One (1) cape, Two (2) interchangeable belts including one (1) detailed utility belt with cell phone and accessories and one (1) magnet featured utility belt attaching to the sticky bomb gun. One (1) pair of forearm gauntlets, One (1) pair of black boots
Hot Toys DX12 The Dark Knight Rises 1/6th scale Batman / Bruce Wayne 12-inch Collectible Figure offers collectors yet another 1/6th scale Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne head sculpt, each new release being better than the previous. Hot Toys has managed to turn head sculpting into an art form by recruiting the best in the field of 1/6th head sculpting and head painting but with each new recruit / sculptor Hot Toys hires, the price of each figure just keeps going UP and UP :( Someone's gotta pay the sculptors and it sure ain't Hot Toys - it's us collectors. You want it, you have to PAY for it.
Personally I can do without the head sculpt but there isn't such an option. Bruce Wayne should come in a suit when he is not in costume and Batman always has his face masked with his Bat cowl anyway
No, the Bat Pod is NOT included with the DX12 but they are just showing where you can stow Batman's Electronic Gun with a new adaptor previously not made available with the first released Bat-pod (pictures of the original Bat-pod HERE)
No, the Batwing is NOT included either. Hot Toys is just showing where you can stow the Batman when he's not posing on the display shelf or cabinet. Put him in the humongous Batwing and hang the gigantic monstrosity from the ceiling if you must for greater impact. Both vehicles sold separately. And if you want Batman on both vehicles at the same time, then you have to get TWO 12-inch Batman figures or you hope Hot Toys actually does a 1/6th scale Anne Hathaway Catwoman figure which means you can then put her on the bike (Bat Pod).
So what do you get for the Hot Toys DX12 The Dark Knight Rises 1/6th scale Batman / Bruce Wayne 12-inch Collectible Figure? Check out the picture below for the other accessories (One (1) adaptor for connecting Batman and Batpod, One (1) deluxe stone-like light-up figure stand with steps, Batman / Bruce Wayne nameplate and the movie logo) included with this set.

The Christian's head would be perfect for a custom Patrick Bateman figure.
ReplyDeleteYour site is the BEST!! I live it as much as my toyz!!! Now for my opinion, I think I'll be passinh on this, can't justify getting a 3rd HT Dark Knight, I think will agree. If I can get my claws on the TASTY EMP RIFLE through some auction or something I'll be satisfied! Oh, and one more time your site is AMAZING, l found it 3 years ago by accident and I check it EVERYDAY!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the compliments :) and thanks for the support. CHEERS
ReplyDeleteGot refunded back on DX02 due to oil leak,,been waiting for it for almost 2 years now. Hell yeah...it's here ;)
ReplyDeletegood for you ethan :) looks like this one's a keeper
ReplyDeleteThe sculpt on Bruce's head is awesome! They even did the mole on his nose.
ReplyDeleteYikes. Don't like the faceplate or the cowl at all. They just few out of place. Bale headsculpt looks spot on though.
ReplyDeleteCostume looks loads better I've gotta say, material seems better and the long neck's gone.
Sure glad I was convinced to get a DX02 whilst sifting through your blog before I made my decision.
After closer observation of the pictures it seems they have gone from a full rubber suit, to a Spandex suit (similar to Spiderman's) with rubber panels, this should vastly improve on poseability and it still looks OK. I'll be honest though 2 Dark Knights are enough for me, and I'm not crying over this POTENTIALLY being their least reincarnation of Batman. Show us BANE CATWOMAN or AMAZING SPIDERMAN's The LIZARD..... Lets not forget HULK or The MACH VII :)
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us are feeling the same towards Hot Toys. Enough with the repeats and do overs, time to pick up on the other neglected figures and increase the range of figures, NOT more of the same.
ReplyDeleteHot toys has 2 much on their plate, alot of their new releases are scheduled for December which means their gonna roll over til 2013.
ReplyDeleteI think Hot Toys is definitely riding on the success of the Dark Knight movie. Look at how aggressive they are with the figures... So far we have the Dark Knight, Bane, Lt Gordon, Batpod, Tumbler and soon we will have "The Bat" and the Selina Kyle figure.... That's really alot considering that Avatar has only one figure and they almost never finish their other lines...
ReplyDeleteBatman, Iron Man, Predators and Terminators are their cash cows ;p always ringing in the sales for Hot Toys
ReplyDeleteShame this one doesn't come with sonar...
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,

Thanking in advance for the help.
Hi Alex,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to kit bash the DX-12 bruce wayne head. I'm wondering which body true type should i get? The TTM22 slim body or TTM21 regular body?
Hi Ethan
ReplyDeleteGo for the regular body. It should be good enough. The slim body is too small. It was built for MJ because he was scrawny looking ;p The slim body won't look nice wearing a regular suit. Cheers
Great Alex. Thank u so much for ur advise :) time to hit the store tomorrow...hehe
