Ultraman Taro by Marmit

Other than Medicom's 1/6 scale 12" RAH Ultraman Taro and Takara's Henshin Cyborg Ultraman Taro, there's also Marmit's Ultraman Taro. Marmit's Ultraman Taro came with a body that had no head, hands or feet and a suit with helmet/Taro head and gloves plus boots in box which you had to suit up.

Marmit's Ultraman Taro's head is a whole piece connected to his neck and chest piece, much like the original Batman costume. This meant no neck articulation nor turning of the head without turning the entire chest - LOL

Also, Marmit's Ultraman Taro doesn't fit nicely onto the body, there's a slight gap

Comparisons of the three Ultraman Taro

Part of the theme song had the words "Taro! Taro! Taro!......" (not "Tora! Tora! Tora!" as that's a 1970 film that dramatizes Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor)

There's also Marmit's Ultra Seven.

Medicom Ultra beings covered so far: Medicom Ultra Seven and Medicom Ultraman Ace

Ultraman related figures: Medicom's Anne Yuri, Medicom's Dan Moroboshi, Limited Edition (only 100 pieces produced) Dan Moroboshi by 5 Star and Takara Anna Yuri

  2. hi desmond, medicom's is the best by far but the suit is sewn so tight that i'm a bit concerned about extreme poses for fear of splitting the suit at the seams.

  3. Ya, guess all collectors know this. Medicom 12inch is not allowed for extreme poses and also its nude body is the weakest as compared to other brands. Must be very carefull when moving the joints.

  4. hi desmond, actually i was referring more to the suits medicom did for their Ultra series, which are very tight and looks like they could tear if you stretch them too much :( I love the suits Medicom did for the entire Kamen Rider series plus Ghost in a Shell Motoko Kusanagi and MGS4 Raiden, not to mention their Star Wars troopers. IMHO their nude bodies are actually quite good compared to Sideshow's which SUX BIG TIME, perhaps a tad small in scale only.

  5. Oic..I understand liao..I also like the entire series for Medicom kamen riders. Due to pricing, I go for smaller scale SIC series..Haha!! Cheaper mah..If you compare Medicom nude body against Sideshow, you are right..SS bodies are the worst..very loose esp their joint areas..

  6. The SIC line is very well done and I have some of them too BUT my preference is still 12" figures with their costumes because the costumes or clothes hide their joints but not their posability and makes them look very realistic. That's why I've been a 1:6 junkie all these years because 12" figures can have very nice 1/6 scale accessories and weapons :)

  7. Yes, agree..I also started collecting 12inch around the year 2000. Medicom SAS is my first 12inch and followed by Dragon SDU :)

  8. Great start, desmond :) Medicom SAS is one of my all-time favourites and my Dragon SDU set is still in their boxes - LOL
