HERE IT IS! Now let's see how the Sideshow Collectibles Firefly 12-inch figure looks with the grey camouflage hood and all his accessories in his backpack as well as his suitcase bomb. This would make it the complete figure loaded to the hilt. And I LIKE it!
First: a shot of the Sideshow 1/6 scale Firefly alternate headsculpt i.e. the grey camouflage hooded portrait. As mentioned earlier, this wasn't listed in the original features list as only one Firefly portrait was mentioned. This Gray camouflage hooded portrait was a result of Sideshow listening to G.I. Joe fans' suggestion.
Sideshow Collectibles has been improving on their headsculpts too. As you can see in these close-up photographs taken, this is a really great sculpt of Firefly. You can read his intentions in his eyes and the gray tones paintwork on the hood (balaclava) isn't too bad either.
And here's Firefly with his backpack loaded with all the accessories (two M-48 Stun Grenades or Flash bangs, two Mk-18 Smoke grenades - one red smoke and one yellow smoke, five M-67 Fragmentation Grenades and four CS-50 Blast Mines plus radio detonator in pouch) and suitcase bomb - just another day at the office.
Sideshow Collectibles COBRA (enemy of G.I. Joe) Firefly is armed with the Austrian Steyr TMP (Taktische Maschinenpistole / Tactical Machine Pistol), a 9mm SMG (Sub-Machine Gun) with foldable stock, M68 close combat optic sight, suppressor and four 30-round magazines (one loaded in the weapon and three in his drop-down triple magazine pouch); HK (Heckler & Koch) Mk 23 SOCOM (Special Operations COMmand) pistol with AN/PEQ-6 Laser Aiming Module (LAM) and a removable suppressor in drop-down holster + three extra 12-round pistol magazines in magazine pouch on his chest; Tanto fighting knife in sheath secured to his right boot.
The new Sideshow body (Pro Body 1.1 with over 30+ points of articulation) is great for posing and holds the poses well. All joints are tight and there are no issues of weak ankles and wobbly limbs. No complains here.
Two of the M-67 Fragmentation Grenades are kept inside the two Compass / Grenade Pouches provided.
No soldier in his right mind will carry his grenades exposed openly in this manner as it is an accident waiting to happen - a rather explosive one too! But it just looks more COOL in pictures :)
The grey backpack is also very well made with fine stitching and is rather current, with cross shoulder strap unlike the older haversacks with typically two carrying straps.
The drop-down holster holds his Mk23 pistol with the detached suppressor stashed in the front pouch. Tanto knife is kept in sheath strapped to his right boot for easy reach.

As you can see, I really enjoyed taking pictures of this 1:6 figure and Firefly certainly went beyond my expectations. After picking up Sideshow's Firefly figure at my favorite shop, I actually took another look at the Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 scale 12-inch G.I. Joe Duke which was also in the shop BUT Duke just didn't do it for me. Why is it that the bad guys always look more COOL and bada$$?! So this is still the one and only figure from Sideshow's G.I. Joe line that I own and DAMN, he's looking GOOD!

ReplyDeletetoo bad Firefly's goggles are only just painted on with red paint and not colored lens - that would've been a nice touch
