Oct 2015 Haul: Hot Toys Star Wars 1:6 scale Han Solo, Chewbacca; Jango Fett, Black Storm Guard, Samurai Darth Vader & Rogers' uniform

Looks like October 2015 is Star Wars month for me LOL

Among the items I got as part of my October 2015 haul are the recently released Hot Toys Star Wars 1:6 scale Han Solo and Chewbacca collectible figures, Sideshow Collectibles Exclusive Star Wars 1/6th scale Jango Fett Bounty Hunter 12-inch Figure, VTS Toys (VM-011) 1/6th scale Catton Lewis Black Storm Guard Team Leader 12-inch figure, Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm action figure and POP TOYS 1/6th Style Series X19 WWII Captain military uniform (Model A) for 12-inch figures.

The POPTOYS 1/6th Style Series X19 WWII Captain military uniform (Model A) was designed to be worn by a 12-inch Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) action figure as seen in the Captain America films released by Marvel Studios, most notable during his World War II days before he was frozen and revived later to join the Avengers. The military uniform Steve Rogers wore had fictional insignias not based on actual WWII military uniforms, since the story is also fiction and not real. The preview pictures released by Pop Toys (posted HERE) showed off the fine stitching and quality materials used by Pop Toys for their product and I really wanted a smartly dressed WWII Steve Rogers in military uniform standing next to the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS156 1/6th scale Captain America Limited Edition 12-inch Collectible Figurine from the blockbuster movie "Captain America: The First Avenger" which I had reviewed earlier HERE, HERE and HERE.

I finally got my hands on the Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader 18 cm action figure which I had previewed on my toy blog back in September 2014 HERE. This figure was not released in great numbers and there was a shortage in supply to retailers which caused the price to skyrocket but thanks to the very resourceful guys at TFH (The Falcon's Hangar, my go-to place for all my toy and action figure needs, and #1 toy shop in my book, has been since I knew them back during the good old Clark Quay Flea Market days!), I finally landed this fella at the original retail price without having to pay any extra dollar for it :)

I had already gotten the Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization 7-inch tall Ashigaru Stormtrooper action figure which I reviewed HERE and HERE) and thought I had missed out on this figure due to Bandai's shortfall in supply but the guys at TFH never fail to deliver.

This is the packaging for the VTS Toys (VM-011) 1/6th scale Catton Lewis Black Storm Guard Team Leader 12-inch figure. This figure is inspired by the 2012 American-Canadian-German science fiction action horror film "Resident Evil: Retribution". When I saw the preview pictures (posted on my toy blog HERE), I was attracted to the whole getup which looked quite futuristic so I pre-ordered this.

The 1/6th scale head sculpt bears a likeness to actor Oded Fehr who plays a pair of clones of Carlos Olivera, a former Umbrella commando and love interest of Alice, who was killed in a sacrificial explosion in "Resident Evil: Extinction".

Another thing that made me want this figure is the 1:6 scale TAR-21 (or simply Tavor), an Israeli bullpup assault rifle designed to maximise reliability, durability, and ease-of-maintenance, particularly under adverse or battlefield conditions.

I pre-ordered this Sideshow Collectibles Exclusive Star Wars 1/6th scale Jango Fett Bounty Hunter 12-inch Figure way back in May 2014 and it has taken that long for the figure to be released (more than a year of waiting). I had pre-ordered this figure directly from Sideshow Collectibles only because the exclusive version comes with the 1/6th scale Jango Fett head sculpt (portrait) with pilot headgear. The regular version doesn't come with the exclusive head sculpt and since both costs the same, I figured it was more worth it to get the Sideshow exclusive. You can check out the preview pictures released by Sideshow Collectibles HERE.

Here's a peek at the Sideshow exclusive 1/6th scale Jango Fett head sculpt (portrait) with pilot headgear. More will be revealed in my action figure review posts later.

This is a figure that's been long overdue. Harrison Ford as Han Solo from Star Wars has been made into a 12-inch figure many many times over, mostly by Hasbro and then by Sideshow Collectibles - check out my toy blog post HERE. Even Medicom Toy tried their hand at it (see my action figure review HERE and HERE) but somehow, the 1:6 scale Han Solo figures seem to fall short of the standard we expect. It seems no company could accurately capture Harrison Ford's likeness. So can Hot Toys do it?

Box packaging for Hot Toys MMS261 Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure features their Han Solo figure on the box cover and inside flap.

Here's a first look at the Hot Toys MMS261 Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope 1/6th scale Han Solo head sculpt.

Han Solo and Chewbacca. You cannot mention one without the other. From the very beginning when we first saw them on the big screen, they have always been partners and they did everything together, good or bad. I think Chewbacca is one of the hardest 1:6 scale figures to produce because of his fur and I certainly applaud Hot Toys for their brave attempt to produce a 1/6th scale Chewbacca 14-inch figure. Other than Hasbro, no other 12-inch figure company has attempted to release a 1:6 scale Chewbacca until now.

Hot Toys MMS262 Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope: 1/6th scale Chewbacca Collectible Figure comes in the standard shoe-box packaging style box Hot Toys has adopted for all their movie-related figures, with a flap covering the main tray where everything is kept.

Here's how Chewbacca looks, as interpreted by Hot Toys
