"Blade Runner" came out in 1982, was directed by Ridley Scott (who had just directed "Alien") and starred Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Daryl Hannah. The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in November 2019 in which Harrison Ford as Blade Runner Rick Deckard must hunt down and "retire" a group of replicants, the renegade Nexus 6 androids led by their sinister leader Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer). Blade runners are special division police officers who are trained to identify, hunt down and "retire" (kill) replicants. Replicants are genetically manufactured beings used for dangerous and degrading work on Earth's "off-world colonies" and have become illegal on Earth following a small replicant uprising. Replicants are visually indistinguishable from adult humans.
This 1/6 scale 12-inch figure called "Android Hunter" was sculpted by Master Ozawa of Japan. Although no mention is made of the movie, there is no mistaking who this really is - Rick Deckard, Blade Runner. I got this figure because of the highly detailed clothing that sets this figure apart when it was first released. Came with movie accurate colorful shirt and tie, pants and belt, suit jacket and most importantly, the Blade Runner overcoat to complete the look. It included a die-cast metal LAPD 2019 Blaster complete with holster!
Harrison Ford is hiding inside there somewhere
Toy Syndicate would release a second version with a better head sculpt, one closer to Harrison Ford in the movie than this one. Since I don't have that, I decided to use an alternate head - watch for it in the next post.

I already covered this figure in a much earlier post, albeit briefly (see link here) where I also covered the Police Spinner that was made by Medicom for the Kubrick "Back to the Future" series - go figure!
I love this one, Alex. Isn't there a 1'6th Roy Batty out there too?
ReplyDeletehey dash, i've only seen Roy Batty on e-bay and not only is he very expensive, he doesn't look as good nor value for money :(
