Toys City has their 2010 X'mas Special - a SEAL Team 5 Mountain Ops SpecWarrior (see previous post) AND Dragon In Dreams (DID) also has their own 2010 X'mas Special which is a French Resistance fighter "Pierre", available March 2011
DID's 1/6 scale French Resistance fighter "Pierre" has an uncanny resemblance to Brad Pitt as First Lieutenant Aldo Raine in the 2009 war film "Inglourious Basterds" written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.
DID French Resistance "Pierre" 12-inch figure comes with grey sweater, white scarf, brown leather-like jacket, MP40, belt with MP40 triple magazine pouch, two German stick grenades, classic American Bowie knife in hard leather sheath (Machete), brown pants and ankle boots.
"Pierre" (part of the Maquisard or Maquis - french for rural guerrilla bands of the French Resistance) even comes with a beret. The modern beret is derived from the traditional hat of Basque shepherds and was first mass-produced in 19th century France, with which country it remains associated.
The set will come with a Super Realistic 1/6 scale metallic Bicycle with working pedals and bicycle chain!
DID 2010 X'mas Special: French Resistance "Pierre" boxed set will also have a wooden crate and Molotov cocktails!
The Molotov cocktail, also known as the petrol bomb, gasoline bomb, Molotov bomb, fire bottle, fire bomb, or simply Molotov, is a generic name used for a variety of improvised incendiary weapons. Due to the relative ease of production they are frequently used by non-professionally equipped fighters and others who cannot afford, manufacture, or obtain hand grenades. They are primarily intended to set targets ablaze rather than instantly destroy them.
The name "Molotov cocktail" is derived from Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, who was the Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (i.e. Soviet Prime Minister) and the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union during World War II. The soldiers of the Finnish Army successfully used Molotov cocktails against Red Army tanks in the two conflicts (Winter War and Continuation War) between Finland and the Soviet Union, and coined the term to mock Molotov.
What is most interesting is that the garb /outfit DID French Resistance "Pierre" is wearing is much closer to what Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski wore in the 2008 World War II era film "Defiance", set during the occupation of Belarus by Nazi Germany than what Brad Pitt wore as LT Aldo Raine in "Inglourious Basterds".
Other 1/6 scale French-related figures:
Action Man French Resistance Fighter, part of the Action Man Soldiers of the Century series, first introduced during 1967 / 1968 when the 1:6 scale 12-inch Action Man figure was just beginning to take England and Europe by storm.
Polistil Action Man French Officer, released 1970s
1/6 scale Hot Toys Lt. Aldo Raine Collectible Figure or 12-inch Brad Pitt in full resistance fighter gear, and standing alongside Hot Toys German SS Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) from the "Inglourious Basterds"
X'mas spacial available in March...
