Hot Toys MMS DX01 The Joker REVIEW V

And finally we come almost to the end of my review of the 1/6 scale 12-inch Hot Toys MMS DX01 The Joker (but you must admit, the figure is AWESOME and deserves this much attention - I certainly enjoyed taking all the pictures ;>)

Hot Toys MMS DX01 The Joker accessories not featured so far (I'd covered the Joker as police officer in the previous posts and all the accessories in my first review post) but didn't get to take a picture of all the accessories out of the box so here they are: five extra gloved hands for various Joker trademark poses (not including the pair he comes with), tutone Glock 17 pistol (fitted with a chrome slide) converted to full-auto with removable Glock 18's standard 33-round magazine, retractable knife, safety pins, stack of 1/6 scale Joker playing cards and five grenades (one Mk 2 hand grenades and four M26 hand grenades) rigged to a pull ring.

The safety pins really work and I was wondering what these were to be used for

The answer is in the USER GUIDE. These safety pins are meant to be used as pinners to pin the grenades down so that when the safety rings of the grenades are pulled, the grenades will stay tucked in the jacket so that they will go off. Otherwise, the grenades will just slip out of the jacket when the safety rings are pulled. Kudos to Hot Toys for paying such attention to details (we don't really get to see the grenades and how they are rigged very clearly in the movie because it all happens rather fast so this is really a nice touch)

And here are the pins pre-positioned for the slotting in of the grenades

We'd seen the Joker's grenades before when he robbed the bank (see pictures in my post HERE) but these are all tied together.

The Joker (Heath Ledger): "If we don't deal with this now, soon little, uh, Gambol here won't be able to get a nickel for his grandma."
Gambol: [explodes] "Enough from the clown!"
[He rises to his feet; Joker does too, opening his coat to reveal a cluster of grenades, attached to a string around his thumb]
The Joker: "Ah-ta-ta-ta! Let's not *blow* this out of proportion."

If you examine closely, you can even see the little hook for putting the pull ring of the grenades rig at the top of the Joker's modified jacket - Hot Toys covered everything :)




And here are the DX Jokers side-by-side. NOTE: The cop Joker only comes with the head sculpt, white gloved hands and dress shoes. To complete the look, you have to get yourself the Hot Toys True Type body with Narrow shoulders (see my post HERE). Otherwise, you have to strip the DX Joker, switch heads and outfits.
