Hot Toys MMS DX01 P.A.R.S. Joker REVIEW IV

Continued from a previous post

After covering the Gotham City cop Joker from "The Dark Knight", I now present to you Hot Toys MMS DX01 P.E.R.S. (Parallel Eyeball Rolling System) Joker Review.

This is the classic Joker outfit/costume as worn by the late Heath Ledger in his portrayal of the Joker. The Joker apparently bought and paid for the outfit with the mob's money which he had stolen earlier. Hot Toys had already released this outfit with the first version Joker released in August 2008 (see my post HERE) but this is supposed to be the new improved and more movie-accurate Joker costume which consists of an overcoat, sport coat, vest, shirt, tie, suspenders, pants, socks and shoes.

I'll be posting comparison pictures between the two similar outfits in a later post but for now, let's check out Hot Toys new P.E.R.S. (Parallel Eyeball Rolling System). Since the first Joker release, Hot Toys have been improving on each head sculpt as they pushed the envelope and gave us better and better head sculpts of Heath Ledger as the Joker. For the Bank Robber Joker, Hot Toys had improved on the first version and gave us two head sculpts which were better than the first. And now they've improved on the head sculpt further and included the cool P.E.R.S. with Colored Translucent Iris for a totally new look

Now the eyes follow you wherever you go - pretty creepy if it really does. You still have to manually adjust and move the eyes around. Moving eyes are not new; Action Man did it back in the late 70s with their "Eagle Eye" action figures and Enterbay did it most recently with their Bruce Lee figure before ZC did something similar with their 1/6 Rosanna Biker Chick female figure. So now it's Hot Toys' turn. Hot Toys' Colored Translucent Iris even has the veins coming in from the sides.

By "translucent", it means they are miniature glass eyes. The new head sculpt and paintwork is exceptional! Excellent job by Yulli and JC Hong from Hot Toys

And here's how it works. You remove the hair part from the back of the head and move the control stick to rotate the eyes. A full 360-degree range of eye movement can be achieved BUT do be careful with the stick as it is quite delicate - it's not your regular joystick if you know what I mean.

The hair attaches back easily via magnets located at the neck region (the square looking patch) and inside the hair portion

Hot Toys has included a user guide for operating the P.E.R.S. in English and Japanese

And for my next trick, I'll make the grenades magically appear inside his overcoat.

"WHY SO SERIOUS?!"
